Nuc skull Model Screws With broken sockets, the new items have recipients

In order to install ssd / ram on the intel nuc skull model, you have to turn four screws.

However, there are problems with these four screw sockets.

I have two nuc skull models

One is that two of the four screw sockets are damaged and two have fine cracks.

The other has no damage, but there are marks that are cracked finely.

(Perhaps it seems that you can loosen and tighten the screw a number of times.)

It is a chronic problem Will other users have such a case?

Or I am not lucky ??

Why can't Intel RST see either NVMe drive - "No disks connected to system"

$

I just got a nuc6i7kyk and I'm trying to set up a RAID through BIOS. I have two identical Toshiba OCZ RD400 SSDs installed. BIOS can see both of them.

I followed the directions (RAID Setup Procedure for Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK ) and set up the two drives initially:

Advanced -> devices -> SATA ->

     "Chipset SATA Mode" -> RAID

M.2 Slot 1 RST PCIe Storage Remapping -> checked

M.2 Slot 2 RST PCIe Storage Remapping -> checked

Then saved, quit, and re-loaded BIOS. I then entered the Intel Rapid Store Technology Add-in config:

Advanced -> devices -> Add-in Config -> "Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology" -> configure

And then all it shows is:

Intel (R) RST 14.8.0.2377 RAID Driver:

No disks connected to system

BIOS can see the drives, they're both "remapped to RST," but Intel RST can't see them to build an array out of.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Feature Request: UHS-II / UHS-2 SD Card Reader

Intel's decision to run the SD reader over PCI is great; but the lack of UHS-II support defeats the purpose. Could you please add UHS-II support to future NUCs.

Thunderbolt 3 HDD missing after reboot

My Intel NUC NUC6i7KYK, running Windows 10, seems to not see my Thunderbolt 3 external HDD after a reboot. I have all drivers up to date as is the bios.

The external drive is the Akitio Thunder3 Duo Pro. If I go to device manager and scan for hardware changes it picks up the device and it appears as normal in Windows Explorer.

Anyone else seen this before and if so any way to resolve this.

Thanks - Tony

NUC6i5 video decoder display mosaic

Hello,

My NUC6i5 with graphics driver V15.45.2.4481 displays 64x64 pixels mosaic when all the following conditions are matched:

1.  Use hardware video decoder (DXVA), and,

2.  The video file is H.265 8-bit encoded format, and,

3.  The width of the video is 1920.

The issue is also found in previous driver versions.

The issue is not found for H.264 format, nor 10-bit H.265, nor 720p, nor 4K video.

Here is a example video: http://video.h265files.com/video-h265.mkv

Skull Canyon HDMI colour issue.

Hi there

Issue:

  • when I switch to my Samsung Series 9 75 inch KS9005 4K SUHD through the HDMI port, the TV keeps auto detecting it as HDMI/DVI and not as PC. I can manually change it to PC but I have to keep doing this each time. My old PC setup with NVidia 960GT was always detected as PC.
  • Then when I try to enable YCbCr, the colours are all pink or green. If I then flick back to pc monitor and then back to TV it usually fixes the colour.
  • With YCbCr enabled, half the time when I switch to TV I get the same colour issue, then have to switch back and forward to get it right.

I have UHD enabled in TV as well as using the HDMI/PC input. Had absolutely no issues with old PC with Nvidia 960GT with YCbCr 4:4:4 enabled. Using same HDMI cable which is supposed to be 2.0 compliant. I tried another cable (which was same brand) but same issue.

Skull Canyon is brand new and installed with Win10 64bit, latest 0042 bios, latest 4542 graphic divers. I also did the HDMI firmware update when connected to my TV. It already had the latest version but updated again.

TV running at 4K 3840 × 2160 at 60Hz.

Does this NUC support YCbCr at 4:4:4, because even with YCbCr enabled I seem to be getting a bit of black crush compared to nvidia?

Any thoughts on the weird colour as well? I've attached a couple of pics which illustrate the problem?

Intel BOXNUC6i7KYK1  with Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM

Everything installed and worked fine…but after about 5 minutes, the NUC6i7KYK turns off then re-starts.  After it turns back on by itself, it asks to edit the BIOS.  Answering NO, the system re-boots and is stable with no issues.

Same result with Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2133 SODIMM, part #CT2K16G4SFD8213, DDR4 PC4-17000 • CL=15 • Dual Ranked • x8 based • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR4-2133 • 1.2V • 2048Meg x 64

Same thing happens with DDR4-2133 memory, which is completely compliant with the NUC6i7KYK memory specification.  The NUC6i7KYK shuts down after the first 5 minutes then restarts.

Please advise on how to get the Intel NUC6i7KYK to operate without the very annoying automatic restarts!

Thank you very much!

Intel NUC5i7RYH WiFi performance due to Bluetooth

$

Hello I just want to share my experience with this curious issue on Intel NUC5i7RYH.

Running Ubunutu 16.04 with TPLINK AP getting the 2.4Ghz signal of WIFI access, after some troubleshooting on why the ICMP time response to AP is above 2 secs and having bad performance of navigation, I turned off my embedded bluetooth in the NUC (the way I was listening my audios) and the issue was fixed completely.

Based on that we noticed NUC systems always will have two challenges that impacts negatively in 2.4Ghz WiFi connection: Bluetooth and USB3.0 ports also, NUC is a good system but having those two components inside the same WiFi antennas, you potentially will be affected in WiFi performance. Some threads refers to WiFi performance  so it probably is the first stage to resolve it.

Hope it helps to the community of NUC,

Edgar M.

Hello I can't manage to run 3840x2160 at 60hz from my NUC.

I have a converter from mini DP to HDMI 2.0 and then a HDMI 2.0 cable to my tv.

60 hz works with this setup if I use my laptop instead (which has a mini DP).

Both are running pretty much identical systems of Arch Linux.

Any clues to why this fails?

How to buy SSD for Intel NUC Skull Canyon?

$

I'm getting a mini PC - Intel NUC Skull Canyon, but I am not what I should look for when buying a SSD for it.

I found these couple of SSDs below but not sure they are the right one for Intel NUC Skull Canyon:

1.

SanDisk Z400s SD8SNAT-256G-1122 M.2 SATA 2280 256GB Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

2.

Intel 600p M.2 2280 256GB SSD PCIe NVMe (Read:1775MB/s, Write:560MB/s)

3.

Samsung 950 PRO NVMe M.2 256 GB Solid State Drive

SanDisk Z400s is the cheapest but it has no NVMe. So is it good or not? What is Z400s?

Which is better among these 3 options?

USB Camera issue on Intel NUC NUC6i7KYK

I have four NUC6i7KYK NUCs using the Intel SSD 600p series drive & the G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8 GB pn: F4-2133C15S-*GRS ram.

I am using an Aver CAM520 USB PTZ camera. The issue is I lose good video when I connect the camera with a USB Extender. The camera works fine with a short 10 ft USB cable.

The system is Win 10 Pro with the latest Intel BIOS & Drivers.

Does anyone know of a USB Extender that works?

The USB Extender works fine using an older computer.

Thank you
