I need to be able to shut the machine down when power goes off in an automated manner. My UPS can *only* send IR commands. I would like for the UPS to be able to shut the NUC down when it needs to. On my old machine, the IR port worked fine, I used Eventghost to capture a IR code, and, when it got it, it forced a shutdown. I cannot get eventghost to recognize the IR port and get any signal from it no matter what remote source.
So, is there some trick to this consumer IR port? I just want to be able to receive some IR command to some program which can then shut down the machine. Nothing else. I do not have nor do I want MCE. Port is enabled in the BIOS. Driver is loaded.
