I've bought a Intel NUC Kit DC3217BY, to use as a linux box remote server (alfresco 5)
Updated the bios to the latest available version.
I added the following HW componets:
- SSD 250GB Samsung 840 Evo mSATA,
- RAM SO-DIMM DDR3 8GB/1600Mhz CRUCIAL Ballistix Sport [2x4GB] KIT CL9 1.35V / 1,5V rt
- Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
- Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard K400
- FIRST TEST - Ubuntu 14.04 kernel panic & freeze
I've installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Intel(R) Graphics Installer 1.0.6 for Linux. The system installed flawlessly.
Then I experimented repeated system crash (with kernel panic dump screen) or system lock (with desktop freeze)
This happened either during navigation on web, either during video decoding of some personal video mjpg on a usb key.
- SECOND TEST - Fedora 20 system freeze
So I installed Fedora 20 and Intel(R) Graphics Installer 1.0.6 for Linux
The system installed flawlessly.
There was no system crash with kernel panic dump screen, BUT there was some desktop freeze. The system was in some way more stable, but froze/crashed sometimes
- POSSIBLE SOLUTION - Help Needed
I would like to contribute to fix this problem. It is not clear if the freeze depends because the of video, the network or something else......
Could it be possible to get help for a kernel memory dump and provide it to Intel for a technical analysis ?
Any ideas or help ?
I would prefer to fix it under Ubuntu 14.04.....
Best regards
