This is the fifth time that this has occurred where after the computer has gone to sleep, the computer fails to wake up with the power light blinking.
Pressing the power on does not turn it back on.
Holding the power button does not turn the computer off.
Input devices (keyboard / mouse) do not turn the computer on.
Pulling the AC power and plugging it back in leaves a faint green light that can be seen. At this point, the power button does not work.
Opening up the device and shorting the red pins on page 40 of the manual has no effect.
The only way to solve this problem is to open up the device, remove the board and pull the CMOS battery. This is a cumbersome solution that will eventually lead to the failure of the device (something will break). Currently, my system is configured as follows:
D54250WYKH
Ubuntu 14.04.1
BIOS upgraded to BIOS Update [WYLPT10H.86A]0032 11/19/2014
OCZ Vertex 460 240GB
Kingston 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz
Intel Network 7260 Wireless-N
I have not upgraded to BIOS update 0033 as the notes indicate no significant changes.
Is this a software issue relating to the OS power management or is this a hardware (BIOS) issue?
