Hello,
I have just purchased an Intel NUC NUC5i5RYH
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/dsktpboards/nuc5i5ryh
https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/nuc/nuc-kit-nuc5i5ryh.html?wapkw=nuc5i5ryh
I looked at which RAM was compatible in the list on Intel's website here:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-034982.htm
I see two listings for Crucial memory:
Crucial* CT8G3S160BM 8 GB 1600 MHz
Crucial CT51264BF160BJ 4 GB 1600 MHz
With this in mind I made the following purchase from Dabs in the UK a couple of days ago:
NUC5i5RYH Core i5 5250U 1.6GHz LAN WLAN BT HD Graphics 6000
Quicklinx: B3ZMAW00 | Mfr#: BOXNUC5i5RYH
and
16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600MHz PC3-12800 204pin SODIMM CL11 Mac 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600MHz PC3-12800 204pin SODIMM CL11 Mac
Quicklinx: 891MAW00 | Mfr#: CT2C8G3S160BMCEU
Is this RAM compatible? Further Googling after clicking buy has lead me to believe I might have made a mistake.
I have received my order today but before I unwrap the boxes (and make it harder to return) I wanted to check...
I have just run the compatibility check on Crucial's website (thought I had already done this pre-purchase) but it actually shows up as incompatible
The memory I received from Dabs has this on the inside of the plastic box:
8GB DDR3L - 1600 SODIMM MAC
CT2C8G3S160BMCEU
6000043752
243810
barcode: 6 49528 76213 9
the invididual RAM sticks inside have this printed on the Crucial sticker on them:
CT8G3S160BM.C16FER
8GB DDR3L - 1600 SODIMM MAC
FH114DV.5L
201443
235043
Dabs own sticker on the outisde of the plastic box says:
16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600MHz PC3-12800
204pin SODIMM CL11 Mac
M Code: CT2C8G3S160BMCEU Crucial
TL:DR
It looks like the individual code for each RAM stick (CT8G3S160BM) matches up with Intel's compatibility list, but Crucial's own checker says it wont work. Who is correct?
I haven't opened up the NUC or the memory yet so any advice would be appreciated
(ps. I searched the forum and found the following comment from sylvia_intel in reference to a different NUC (D54250WYK) - "Guys the memory that was tested in our labs, but it did not pass was the Crucial CT8G3S160BM. It was already removed from the list." I don't know if that comment is relevant as it is regarding a different NUC model but thought I'd mention it anyway
