Hi All,
I'm a first time NUC-owner, so I may be ignorant to certain aspects, however I've been putting together tech for many years. NUC-Pros: your advice is appreciated here!
My configuration is:
NUC5i5RYH
2x8 GB DDR3 1600 (no problems)
M.2 SATA Drive*
2.5" 2TB Samsung SATA Disk
My problem:
Since first unboxing, the NUC's bios will not detect anything in the M.2 slot. By this I mean: in the visual bios, in advanced, devices, SATA, the NUC lists under M.2 "[Not Installed]", when an M.2 stick is in place (also the sae in the PCIe menu, although they are SATA M.2).
*I have tried the following M.2 sticks:
ADATA Premier Pro SP900 M.2 256 GB SSD (22x80 M-key, SATA)
Samsung 850 EVO, 250 GB SSD (22x80 M-key, SATA)
Both should work, but after the ADATA was not detected, I thought perhaps I had acquired an incompatible M.2, so I looked through the boards here and noticed people had been successfully using the Samsung EVO SATA SSDs. I picked up an EVO, but I have the same result - neither are detected/listed in the visual bios.
Other information:
The 2.5" drive is detected correctly by the visual bios. Only M.2 is never detected (whether or not the 2.5" is connected).
No errors are reported anywhere during power-up.
What I have done:
Read through every related forum post I could find on here.
Powered on the NUC 'naked' (just memory), powered off, reinserted the M.2 and powered on again - no joy.
Reset the visual bios settings to default (F9) - no joy.
Upgraded the bios to the latest version - no joy.
What I'm considering:
I can't think of anything else I can change/tinker-with to affect the configuration, so I'm wondering if the NUC is just not functioning correctly. Hence, I'm considering returning it for a replacement.
I'd love to hear some comments and feedback first though!
Michael
