NUC5i5RYK Low memory when disconnected from AV receiver

I have an Intel NUC5i5RYK

Memory: Kingston Hyper X 8GB (2x4GB modules) (DDR3L - 1600 CL9)

...same memory reviewers have been using.

Storage: Samsung 850EVO M.2 256GB (magician software 4.6)

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro

Graphics card driver is .4080

My average memory usage is about 46% (running just IE and plex server)

My NUC is connected to an Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver via HDMI and outputted to a 55" Vizio E series TV.

When the receiver is on (TV can be on or off) I never see a low memory warning.

However, if the receiver has been off for a few hours I'll see a low memory warning after the receiver/TV are powered on...yet my main memory still hasn't exceeded 46%.

Does anyone know why this happens only when the AV receiver is off?

Is it a paging memory issue? (mine's at 2GB)

I would be grateful for any advice.
