I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 from a USB flash drive onto a SSD in a D54250WYK. The SSD (Intel 530) currently has Windows 7 already installed on it, so I am trying to re-install the OS.
Before booting from the USB flash drive, I have to do a manual power cycle (pull the power cord from the wall, wait several seconds, and then plug the power cord back in) or else the USB stops working when the initial Windows 7 "Install Windows" screen comes up. The activity light on the USB flash drive goes dark, and the keyboard stops working. This happens with both firmware 0024 and 0025.
Why is the manual power cycle needed for the USB to work?
