Hi:

I am planning on using NUC with a wireless power supply. What should be the battery specifications for NUC5i7RYH?

Thank you.

New NUC6i5SYH has Died?

Hello,

I've had a NUC6i5SYH up and running Windows 10 for just over 2 weeks now.  It was configured with 16GB Micron 2133 memory and a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB SSD.  Nothing was installed in the SATA HDD bay.  It has been working fine until today.

I walked in the room, and the Blue LED on the front of the unit was stuck on.  No video output (HDMI monitor in use).  Monitor was in standby mode.

     - I tried taking out the SSD.  When the unit boots, the Blue LED blinks twice, then stays on.  No video.

     - I tried moving the memory around, trying each module in each slot, and separately (one at a time).  Every boot resulted in the same thing Blue light blinks twice, then stays on.  No video.

     - I get no video output at all during POST.  No messages.

I can't find evidence of what this "beep code" means.  What should I try next?

Thanks,

James

Using Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) on NUC5i3MYBE/NUC5i5MYBE

Hello,

I have a project trying to use the eDP port on a Maple Canyon NUC. I would like to test it using a panel with no EDID, ideally using one of the "predefined panel types". Looking in the BIOS I have found

Advanced -> Devices -> Video -> Basic Flat Panel Configuration

This setting is set to "Disable" and the control is also disabled so I can't change it. The "Technical Product Specification" seems to suggest this is the expected default

Support for flat panel display configuration complies with the following:

1. Internal flat panel display connectivity is disabled (and all parameters hidden) by default.

2. Internal flat panel display settings are not exposed through Intel® Integrator Toolkit or Intel® Integrator Assistant GUIs

How do I go about enabling the settings in the BIOS or alternatively can the settings be changed through some other Intel tool?

Thank you, regards,

Richard.

What driver do I need?

I have BIOS 0033 installed.

Does Windows need a separate driver for the m.2?

Is there anything else that I need to get Win10 on this thing?

After Windows 10 upgrade monitor with MiniDisplayPort not working properly

$

I've had the NUC5i5RYH since Christmas. It was running Windows 7. This past weekend I upgraded it to Windows 10.

I have two ASUS VG248 monitors. One connected via HDMI and the second by MiniDisplayPort. Before the upgrade everything was working great. Since the upgrade anytime the NUC goes to sleep the monitor with the MiniDisplayPort will not connect. If I unplug the MiniDisplayPort cable and plug it back in to the same monitor it will still not connect. I can however move the cords around and plug the cord MiniDisplayPort that was in monitor 2 and plug it into the monitor 1 and unplug the HDMI from monitor 1 and move it to the monitor 2 and everything is fine. The next time the NUC goes to sleep I have to switch the cords around or only use the monitor connected via the HDMI cable.

Has anybody ran into this? I've upgraded Intel Graphics Driver and that didn't seem to help. There is no updated driver from ASUS.

Thanks,

W. H.

black KVM screen on NUC 5i5 running headless

We have found that if a local monitor is not plugged in to the NUC 5i5  the remote KVM screen remains black( in Bios and windows).

However Keyboard and mouse clicks remain active, we can see this on windows when running remote admin screen.

If we plug in a local monitor or emulate a local monitor, the remote KVM screen works well as expected.

This is rather frustrating we assumed that the built in KVM would work headless, mainly because the NUC unit itself has been designed to run headless as stated in the manual.

The Nuc in general fantastic compact unit. Our current solution is to use a modified mini display port to VGA adapter, which is around 1/4 the size of the NUC pcb which is a real shame.

Does anyone out there have a better solution, or is there already some sort of a firmware solution out there already.

NUC6i3SYH with Samsung 950 Pro NVMe AND Samsung 840 EVO SATA - running win10 - no boot

Hi all,

I have searched the communities for my problem and found some similiar but none quite the same unfortunately....

My system is a NUC6i3SYH with a SAMSUNG 950 Pro M.2 NVMe 256 GB installed as system-drive, RAM: 2*4 GB Kingston HyperX.

After some challenges, I was able to install windows 10 and it runs fine with the 950 Pro as boot-drive.

As I learned from other discussions in the web - only afterweards I inserted my SAMSUNG 840 EVO (SATA) as additional data-drive.

unfortunately afterwards Win10 isn't booting up anymore (Win 10 trying to repair keyboard - but at the end still no boot)

removing the SATA EVO 840 - Win10 works fine again.

Then I did insert a spare old technology Fujitsu MHV2120BH PL 112 GB harddrive from old laptop - works fine. Samsung 950 Pro AND Fujitsu harddisk are recognized and win 10 is booting up.

replacing the harddisc with my 840 EVO SSD - unfortunately again Win10 no boot.

Bios is on version 033, UEFI AND LEgacy boot enabled (after reset to default etc etc etc ...)

any idea (related to the mentionned bios-problems ???) ?

thanks

Intel NUC 6th Generation HDMI Blank Screen

I have an Intel NUC6i3SYH with GX driver 15.40.13.4331 connected via HDMI to a Onkyo AV receiver and my issue is same as the one below

When changing input sources on the receiver and then coming back to the NUC's HDMI source, a black screen appears.

The only way to regain a signal is to reboot the NUC but this is not desirable - I wish to leave the NUC running and be able to switch back and forth to other sources

As other people have mentioned it seems that is not an uncommon problem and some other NUC models are suffering from the same HDMI sync/handshake problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, perhaps a revised driver or BIOS is required?

NUC NUC5CPYH Does not Boot/Reboot on Ubuntu 15.10 (linux-image-4.2.0-19)

I have an Intel NUC NUC5CPYH. This is the unit: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/nuc/nuc-kit-nuc5cpyh.html

When I try to boot with linux-image-4.2.0 (Ubuntu 15.10) on the latest PY0044 BIOS version, it freezes on boot almost every time. If I downgrade the BIOS to PY0043, it boots most of the time, but when I run "reboot" it freezes almost every single time. This is what I see on the screen when it freezes: Dropbox - IMG_1489.jpg

More details and log files:

  1. Reboot issue: Bug #1522201 “NUC NUC5CPYH Does not reboot on Ubuntu 15.10 (linu...” : Bugs : linux package : Ubuntu
  2. Boot issue: Bug #1521749 “NUC NUC5CPYH Does not boot on Ubuntu 15.10 (linux-...” : Bugs : linux package : Ubuntu

I have tried several things:

  • Booting with acpi_osi="Windows 2013" as well as Windows 2015 and Windows 2009, that did not seem to make any difference.
  • I tried adding GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nomodeset" (also: noacpi noapic)
  • I tried disabling devices in the BIOS like audio
  • Tried selecting "Ubuntu, with Linux 4.2.0-19-generic (recovery mode)" from the list, it does not boot into the recovery console either
  • I tried installing a clean 15.10 version on a blank hard drive to rule out any configuration issues
  • I tried cold booting/rebooting and warm booting/rebooting (+5V standby), it does not seem to make any difference

Any ideas?

Intel NUC NUC5i5RYH with Intel Core™ i5

16 GB Ram

Windows 7 64 Bit SP1

Montior is DELL 3007 WFP-HC

DVI-D (dual link) with HDCP

Cable to convert from MiniHDMI to DVI:

Mini HDMI to DVI-D Cable 19 Pin HDMI (C) Male to DVI-D Male - 1920 x 1200 Video

As you can see in title I'm only getting 1280 max res, which is very pixilated on a 30" monitor.

I downloaded the latest graphics drivers from Intel.

What could be the issue? The cable? The monitor? Intel Motherboard won't support?

Thanks for any help.

HD6000 3D Blu ray performance issue

Using PowerDVD 15 I am seeing inconsistent playback of 3D blu ray. When I start a 3D movie (TV is a Vizio M801D-A3; 1080p/24Hz; frame-packing), the image may distort frequently and cause an image that appears to almost look like its viewed underwater. Depth of the image is also incorrect for seemingly random parts of the image. If I then pause the movie for a few seconds, or back up to the beginning of the chapter, the issue so far resolves itself, but sometimes it takes a few tries to do so.

This seems like a driver bug. I did not have this issue using PowerDVD 15 with Nvidia graphics on my previous build. Attached is my Intel system profile and dxdiag report if that helps. I'd appreciate any assistance.

NUC5i3RYH issue TPM

Hi,

I've bought this NUC5i3RYH and installed on W7 Ultimate x64, everything is fine.. till I've tried to enable Bitlocker!

I've updated the BIOS to the last version 2049 and enabled Trusted  Platform Techionology, but in Device Manager I always seen "Unknown Device" with HW ID "ACPI\MSFT0101". I've downloaded the entire bundle of driver (may 2015) but there is no clue of a TPM dirver. SO i did a little bi searching and I've foud this: Intel® NUC Boards and Kits — Error on Unknown Device in Device Manager in Windows 7*

Now, is it possible that the only solution proposed from intel is to disable(!!!) TPM?

I've setup a lot of pcs with W7 Ultimate and Bitlocker and always everything was perfect, I cannot understand why Intel doesn't provide a driver.

Anyone can help me?

NUC5i3RYH Freeze

Hello,

I recently buy a NUC5i3RYH and today I installed Windows 10 Pro N on it. But when I transfer a big file or when the SSD is heavily used, the NUC freeze, the HD LED remains on, and the SSD usage on task manager remains 100%. I can't do anything, even Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't respond, I need to force shutdown with the button.

My system is completely updated, BIOS and all Intel NUC drivers including the chipset driver.

Have we got an idea where it came from ? Do I need to secure erase my SSD and reinstall it ?

Thank you

NUC6i5SYH + Samsung 950 pro 512 GB maximum read - write speed?

$

Hi,

Not that I am really dissatisfied with the speed of above mentioned combination as it is faster than anything else in my office, I still have a question about this.

AFAIK the NUC Skylake series has a PCIe 3.0, 4x M.2 interface. The Samsung 950 pro drive should be able to use that interface to the max, resulting in a sequential read speed of around 2500 MB/s, and a sequential write speed of around 1500 MB/s. I have seen this drive do this on an Asus H170 motherboard.

On my NUC Samsung Magician reports 1706 MB/s read and1558 MB/s write. So the expected write speed is met, but the read speed lags behind. It does not look like a temperature throttling issue, as the measurement is taken right after a cold boot. Another performance measurement tool like CrystalDiskMark gets numbers in the same area.

Is there anyone who could shed some light on this? And is anybody getting the maximum speed out of this (or a like) combination?

The setup I use:

- NUC6i5SYH

- Samsung 950 Pro 512 GB attached to the M.2 interface

- 16 GB Kingston HyperX 2133

- 500GB Crucial MX200 attached to the SATA interface

- BIOS 0033

- Windows 10 Pro, booting from the 950

- Latest updates / drivers installed, the driver for the 950 is downloaded from Samsung

- Over provisioning enabled on the 950 for the full suggested 47GB (10%)

Paul

NUC6i3SYH Windows 10 32bit drivers not working for NIC and WiFi

Windows 10 32bit Home installed. (both first win10 and latest build)

latest 32bit drivers for this type downloaded,  also tried with the automatic download app from the site.

Latest network drivers say:  no intel adapters are present in this computer.  (see screenshot)

Windows update not detecting any new drivers either.

Manually selecting the wifi drivers for the AC-8260 seems to work.  Can't find any docs about what NIC is in the 6i3SYH tried a couple, but nothing is stable.

Seems a problem with 32bit drivers.

USB Audio Failing

Hello,

I am using a NUC as a room PC for video conferencing.  The issue that is being experienced is that when a restart is performed the USB audio stops working and is pushed to the display, which is connected via HDMI. In order to get the USB device to pick back up we are having to shut down the NUC and power back on.  Is there a setting or something that I am missing that could prevent this from happening?
