NUC5i7RYH CIR problems

I've got an RC-6 compatible remote (HP: TSGH-IR04) and enabled all CIR functions in Bios.

The Remote successfully switch on my computer, yet it does nothing in Windows 7 (64-bit).

I had the Infrared: Nuvoton* Consumer Infrared (CIR) Driver for Windows 7* for Intel® NUC (Version: 2.7.1005) installed, upon failure to response to the remote, I tried uninstall it and reinstall it, but then the installer prompt me an error saying the the CIR device is not found.

So my questions are:

1. How can I remove / reinstall the Nuvoton driver? (I've uninstall, restart, but in Device Manager, it shows an unknown device)

2. How can I make my remote working in Win 7 (e.g. in Windows Media Centre)?

Thanks a lot.

P.S. The unknown device is: Mobile 5th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Premium SKU LPC Controller - 9CC3 <-- this is the device that I cannot remove (it stays there upon restart).
Error code is 28.

Hello,

My NUC6i5 with graphics driver V15.45.2.4481 displays 64x64 pixels mosaic when all the following conditions are matched:

1.  Use hardware video decoder (DXVA), and,

2.  The video file is H.265 8-bit encoded format, and,

3.  The width of the video is 1920.

The issue is also found in previous driver versions.

The issue is not found for H.264 format, nor 10-bit H.265, nor 720p, nor 4K video.

Intel NUC5i3 + Microsoft Designer Bluetooth® Desktop (HID/GATT/Low Energy) + Windows 7

Hello Community,

i have a NUC5i3RYK with Windows 7/64 installed. All Drivers are up2date. I connect the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop (Keyboard + Mouse) via Bluetooth to the NUC and all works perfect (almost no latency, can do internet, music, keyboard and mouse simultaneously via BT)! Only one little "problem": After reboot, only mouse works/keyboard doesnt. So i have to use screen-keyboard to login. Status of keyboard in BT-manager is authenticated/connected after reboot but i cant write. After deleting the device and pair it again, all works fine again. Have already done some experiments with BT-services (google search) but no luck. Do you have some ideas?

Thanks & cheers, Chris

Nuc's (5PPYH) crashing with RDP if dual monitor are used

Hello,

at the office of one of my clients I have replaced all old PC's (Old Dell's with 1GB of ram and single core Pentium CPU's) with NUC's. Since they work 'in the cloud', as in they work on a virtual desktop remotely hosted on Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter, I figured the 5PPYH should be more than plenty powerfull for them.

Setup:

- Intel NUC5PPYH
- 4GB DDR3 Crucial (CT51264BF160BJ)
- Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD

- Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

- Dual HP E232 Elite displays (one wired to VGA, the other to HDMI)

Using RDP with two monitors connected results in multiple random freezes a day. The only way to get the NUC going again is to reset the NUC (forced shutdown and reboot), after which I can log in to the RDP session and resume work as if nothing happened... until it crashes again, sometimes in minutes, sometimes after a few hours.

Two other workstations that have been replaced earlier don't have the issue that the NUC's have, (They are HP Prodesk's running Windows 7). If I log the users in on those machines with  multi monitor setup, there are no crashes.

The whole machine freezes, not just the RDP session. CTRL-ALT-DEL no longer work (they are mapped to the local machine, not the remote) and the mouse cursor freezes up. No BSOD, no error message, nothing... I have left the machines in frozen condition for over half an hour, in the hopes a BSOD or error code would show up, but nothing. The Windows log also contains no errors after the crashes. I wished it gave a code so I could give more information, but allas...

Please help, I'm pulling my hair out...

Skull Canyon Random freeze while shutting down.

Hi,

I have a concern related to my PC.

This is a random issue. Till now, i have experienced it thrice and am VERY concerned now, because these machines have only SSD's and any power loss could potentially kill the SSD with all data in it.

OS: Windows 10.

Issue: When the machine is shut down. The display goes off, but the PC actually doesn't shut down.

The PC keeps running and there is nothing on the display. Keyboard doesn't work, probably because the OS has already initiated shutdown. not sure.

The PC's power switch keeps glowing. i wait for ~10 minutes and pull the power plug, so i could restart it. Everything works normally after reboot.

Any advice on how this could be fixed?

skull canyon random freezes while gaming

Received my skull canyon last week with

Installed the intel driver utility and updated all drivers, also flashed the latest bios.

Its attached to a 1080P Samsung TV via HDMI and is primarily used as htpc with HD Homerun Tuner, NextPVR and Kodi.

It randomly fails to wake up when turning on the TV, so I changed the power options and that seems to happen less.

I also play Deus X mankind divided ad 1280 x 720 with Graphics set at High (have tried medium and low with same issue).  I have also tried it at lower resolutions with same problem.

I'll be playing the game for 10 - 20 minutes when it just locks up and emits a loud persistent sound and the only solution is to pull out the power plug, restart it and play again only to lock up again a few minutes later.

I really like this NUC, its really fast and everything else seems to work well.

I want to play games on it and if I can't get it resolved I will RMA it to newegg.

Advice for powering multiple devices including the NUC6i7KYK from a single power source

$

Hi all, just some newbie question to any makers out there or even intel - I would like to stay minimal and power 3 devices from a single power source. I assume the only vector of action here is tapping the power supply that comes with the nuc and using regulators to provide 2 more connections for the devices I need and if the math works, so should the circuits.

The only power header I see on the board is the 5v on the front panel, and that doesn't seem to have a ground. I assume all the other pins there are communicating to the nuc so they must not be used for powering devices.

It would probably help those who have done this before to see what power is required for the other 2 devices I have.

First device states it needs 7-18v (12v recommended) and power supply rated up to 8w

2nd device i dont have the details for but im guessing its some typical 9v thing.

What is the name of the software that is on the orange piece of paper in the box?

Hello,

I decided to replace linux with windows on my DC3217BY. I was installing the drivers then I remembered that there was an SSD management software on an orange piece of paper in the box. I don't have that paper anymore. I probably don't need it but I will install it just for the fun of it. Does anyone know what the program is called?

no sound on brand-new nuc NUC5PGYH Pentium N3700

Our brand-new NUC is connected to our stereo receiver via a brand-new HDMI cable; everything about getting it up and running worked beautifully -- nearly flawlessly -- except the sound.  Well, it does work through earbuds only.  Checked that the HDMI cable passes sound to our speakers on another computer; it does.  Checked that we had the latest drivers; we do.  This is the NUC that comes as a more or less complete computer with Windows 10 pre-installed.  We haven't yet upgraded the RAM or added an additional internal hard drive.  We'd prefer to get it working before opening it up.

Is there anything else we need to do to get the sound working, or did we get a lemon?

NUC6i5SYH Windows 10 ntoskrnl.exe System and compressed memory high CPU using SD reader

I have another thread on a similar issue using Ubuntu but I have since moved to Windows 10 and am having a similar issue. As soon as I insert an SD card I get System and compressed memory ntoskrnl.exe using 20-40% CPU and nothing will stop it short of a reboot. I have tried multiple SD cards with no change in behavior. Can anyone else here running Windows 10 64 bit try and see if they have the same issue? The OS is fully up to date and I have installed the latest Chipset, RST, Lan/Wifi, and Graphics drivers from the intel site.

Recently purchased the Nuc 6i7KYK. Loaded windows 10 home. Used the utility from Intel to install all updates. Tried a thumb drive. Speed was ridiculously slow-less than 1mb for data. Is there a fix for this?

Intel NUC6i7KYK freezes

I have recently purchased an Intel NUC6i7KYK with the following configuration:

  • Samsung 950 PRO M.2, details here
  • 2x (SO-DIMM HyperX Impact, HX421S13lBK2/32 CTHM1681663, 1.2v), details here

For about a week it worked flawlessly and since yesterday the system has started to freeze randomly (the video is ON, but it does not respond to any input, mouse or keyboard). The device is connected to a 21:9 Dell monitor (with a resolution 3440x1440) through DisplayPort.

For troubleshooting I have performed the following:

  1. Updated to the latest BIOS
  2. Latest video drivers
  3. Removed memory sticks one by one
  4. Left the case open
  5. Changed the FAN settings to maintain a lower temperature

Nothing helped.

Looking at the tested memory configuration I don't see the type that I have. Does anyone know if this is supported?

I have requested and exchange from Amazon and it is arriving on Monday, but I am wondering if I have a defective unit (not sure how it can become defective in a week) or there is something else wrong and I will be experiencing the same issue with the new unit. Anything else that I did not try that I should?
