NUC6CAYH video shuddering problem

I have a NUC6CAYH for a couple of weeks, installed 4gb x 2 module RAM (they are same brand same model and listed in compatible rams given by Intel) + 120 gb SSD + Windows 10 pro.

 

Even though I installed the last version of all drivers and bios, in 4k resolution all videos including even 1080p ones shudder a lot which is not convenient for watching the content. I use MPC-HC and k-lite codecs.

 

I have tried different hardware acceleration types, also software decoding and changed even television settings, tried almost everything but no luck.

 

In 1080p resolution, everything is just fine including 4k videos.

 

It is very annoying, because I was waiting it for a long time for its 4k support, so your help will be very much appreciated.

Possible to upgrade 5i5MYHE BIOS from v31 to v34?

My 5i5MYHE BIOS has BIOS version 31.  Trying to upgrade through all methods (express, F4, F7, security jumper) just boots back into Windows 10.  The BIOS is never upgraded.

 

Is there a way to upgrade past BIOS version 31?

How do I disable hyper-threading on the NUC6i3SYK?

My system frequently freezes every few days -- OUCH! The mouse arrow gets stuck and the keyboard is unresponsive. This article acknowledges the freeze issue:

 

Skylake bug causes Intel chips to freeze under 'complex workloads' - ExtremeTech

 

The recommended work around is to disable hyper-threading. Rummaging around the bios settings didn't reveal anything obvious.

 

So how do I disable hyper-threading?

 

Bonus question: what performance degradation would I expect? I typically run 2 virtualbox machines (one is windows and another is linux) at the same time, in addition to various loads in the host os which is LInux Mint.

NUC 6i5SYH Chipset Driver 10.1.1.42 Not Working Windows 10Pro

I was loading a new Nuc, manually added drivers and the chipset driver does not work. It gives an error to check with the publisher about it contents/software and will not accept/run the driver. This is a single order nuc where I add the drivers manually in audit mode, so in nuc as administrator when doing this. I have never had this problem before when adding drivers in audit mode. I have tried with current bios of 51 and flashed to 59 and no change. Anyone else running into this error or heard of it?

NUC6i5SYH reboots when choosing shutdown

Every time i choose shutdown (windows leftdownsign->on/off-sign->shutdown) when the office closes, my NUC reboots and after a while i see the windows logon screen.

When i choose shutdown again from this logon screen, shutdown is performed well.

 

My configuration:

  • NUC6i5SYH
  • Samsung 850 EVO - M2 - 500GB
  • Seagate Spinpoint M9T, 2TB ST2000LM
  • HyperX Impact - DDR4 2133Mhz CL13 SO-DIMM Kit - 16GB HX421S13IBK2/16
  • Bios SYSKLi35.86A.0059
  • Fast Boot is Off
  • OS Windows 10 Pro

 

Sometimes i have an other problem when starting my NUC:

  • I short press the on/off botton on top
  • I see bios boots en the blue light on the NUC
  • My screen goes black en stays black
  • I short press on/off to shut down
  • I short press on/off to boot
  • Most of time then logon screen appears

 

These problems did not exist when I started using this NUC, but came on moment i can’t remember.

I wonder if both problems are related and if more people have those problemens.

NUC5i5RYH Dual screen = Projector

I've got three issues with these NUC's, I'm presently deploying hundreds of these units across multiple sites with Windows 7.

I will only address my first issue today: On start-up with dual monitors attached, I've tried both: mini display port to full display port or mini DP to DVI on the first screen and mini HDMI to DVI on the second. The system boots but all I can see is the white mouse curser on a black background - extended desktop works on both screens as the mouse is able to move between both screens, if I disconnect the MDP and reconnect it (straight away) - Windows login appears. Please note it doesn't do it all the time.

How disable power button led

I have nuc6cayh and I want to disable the amber power button led when unit is off. Also is there a way to disable the ring led completely? I find the ring led distracting even with lower brightness setting. Also the power button led when it is off is annoying because my NUC is at my bedroom.

nuc7 windows 7 boot menu, no keyboard/Mouse response?

While I dont know that Windows 7 is not officially supported on the NUC 7, I am trying to get it loaded.

For the only purpose is to have WMC. I have been running the Win10 WMC hack but its not solid.

 

I get Win 7 ISO to USB to boot to the install language screen but no response from keyboard or mouse.

 

Is there a driver issue or maybe I should try win8.1

New NUCs capable of passing through Atmos?

I'm trying to figure out if the NUC7i3BNH is capable of passing through an Atmos signal? In the specs of the NUC it reads "7.1 digital". So I'm not quite sure if this includes a 5.1.2 channel for example. My setup consists of a Denon Atmos-Receiver and I want to run Kodi Krypton.

NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK Bluetooth vanished

Hello

 

24 hours ago, the bluetooth functionality on my NUC6i7KYK vanished mid sentence whilst typing.  I figured the keyboard was flat, so plugged it in for charging.  Later that day I came back unplugged the now fully charged keyboard, turned the NUC6i7KYK back on and still no keyboard.  I clicked the cortana button down the bottom, typed bluetooth thinking that the keyboard must of unpaired somehow.  Well there was no bluetooth in the results, only a picture of a plane (enable flight mode).   Flight mode was not no by the way.

 

Alright so next port of call, the Control Panel to check out Bluetooth options there.  There were none.  Head scratching begins.  Go into Device Manager, no bluetooth in there either.  Strange.  Ok, so I update the Intel(R) Driver Update Utility to version 2.7.2, and then run it as Administrator and update everything thinking that will solve the issue.  Still nothing. 

 

For clarity the version the installer installed was BT_WIN10_64_19.40.1702.exe Curiously it said the install failed, but when I ran it again, it came up with current version as 19.40.1702

 

Ok so still no joy.  I reboot and go into the BIOS, yes Bluetooth is enabled.  Reboot still no bluetooth.

 

Now I check out available BIOS updates.  I was running version 42 i think from memory.  I download and successfully install BIOS update [KYSKLi70.86A] from the Intel website. 

 

Still nothing.  I google and come across this website.  I find a bit of advice posed by Intel Corporation in regard to another user that was having a similar issue.  The advice suggested to go into Device Manager, click on Show Hidden Items, then uninstall the Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth.  I did this, still no bluetooth.  Now that no longer displays in Device Manager. 

 

So my conclusion is that the Bluetooth component is faulty.  I'll happily try any other options.  Please help.  I had to go out an buy a wired keyboard to type this message!

Unknown I/O error on boot

Intel NUC6i3SYB version H81132-504 will load a disk image OK but produces unknown I/O error on boot.

Error message states Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.  No devices are (or have been) connected.

File: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Status: 0xc00000e9

Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured

 

Seems to be a hardware failure?  Any ideas?

audio issue with NUC5i5MYHE

We have an external mic feeding a mixer and plugged into one leg of a Y cable (TRRS) going into the audio port of the NUC5i5MYHE (running Ubuntu) and the other end of the Ycable feeds an amp/speaker.  The issue is when the unit has a power interruption, or the NUC is rebooted, there is a loud thump and then the unit just continuously makes unacceptable noise that continues.  We tried adding a noise filter but then the NUC doesn't sense the mixer/mic.  Any suggestions.

Crucial MX300 275gb M.2 2280SS SSD not recognized by NUC7i3BNH in UEFI boot

Hi,

 

I have an issue with my new NUC7i3BNH. When I turn it on, it seems like it is not recognizing my ssd (Crucial MX300 275gb M.2 2280SS) in UEFI mode. It does in legacy mode. I would like to solve this issue before installing any OS on this computer (linux mageia and windows 10 in dual boot).

 

This ssd and this nuc should be able to work together in uefi mode, is there any option I need to turn on or anything I can do (update) to make them working together ?

 

I have the last version of the bios. And the memory I use is corsair DDR4 2 x 4GB. It seems to me that I am not the only one facing this issue with a NUC.

How to make LAN with connected ethernet and WLAN both available

I would like to use the NUC5i3RYK connected the my LAN via ethernet cable and establish an AP. this is not possible with this configuration because in case of availabe LAN connection the WLAN adapter is automatically disabled. I think by the BIOS. Is there a way to make both connections simultanesly available?

No USB Post Win 7 install.

I bought a Skull Canyon NUC intending to run Win7 Pro unaware of the
issues involved. After much research and trial and error, I’m to a point where
windows 7 pro finishes the initial install and upon rebooting displays a screen
prompting me for a computer name and a user id. Unfortunately now, as with my
first attempt to install win7, I’ve again lost USB connectivity to the kb and mouse.

Any ideas?

I believe the above both ultimately boot on the legacy bios, not UEFI.
All attempts at a forced UEFI boot have failed. Another work around I looked at
talked about preparing the bootable usb drive on a win 8 pc with an SMBIOS
version of 2.7 or higher. It was somehow ties to UEFI and underling win 8
support. The guy is British and had kind of a heavy accent. Any validity to
this?

NUC6CAYH loses sound via HDMI passthrough every few seconds when 4K resolution is set

I've got the following problem:

NUC6CAYH - latest drivers. HDMI firmware v1.65

Receiver: Yamaha RX-V681

TV: Sony KD65X9300C

Windows 10 x64

 

NUC is connected to the receiver via HDMI. Video playback apps are configured in HDMI audio pass-trough mode.

 

When the screen resolution is set to 1920x1080 everything is good and there are no issues with the sound.

 

If I set desktop resolution to 3,840 x 2,160 which matches the resolution of of the TV the following problem occurs:

 

If a movie is played with Kodi, every 20-30 seconds, sounds stops for a second or so. When this happens receiver shows that no sounds is coming via HDMI.

If a movie is played with Plex, the same issue occurs, the only differences is when the sound stops, the receivers still shows icons for the incoming sound channels.

 

The issue is extremely annoying and pretty much makes it impossible to watch 4K (in the native 4K resolution).

 

Does anyone experiences a similar issue?

restart fail with NUC 5CPYH

I'm working with NUC 5CPYH, with last bios version PYBSWCEL.86A.0056.2016.0901.1751.

I should use this machine in production in an always on enviroment (24 hours on each day), and for more stability I need of a midnight restart, but often the nuc fails to restart and hangs in a strange situation:

  • The screen is black (No Signal)
  • The power led is on.
  • As soon as I press the power button the system shutdown.
  • On the next power on there aren't errors in ths sys op.

 

 

I'm facing this error on Ubuntu 14.04/16.04 both in 32/64bit versions with all the NUC that I bought (20+).

 

For check the problem I have added in /etc/rc.local this code:

sleep 60 && reboot

and the system fails to restart after a random number of times.

 

 

Anyone else have found a solution for this?
