Hello,

I have just bought NUC8i5BEK. Installed RAM & Disk.

Installed windows 10.

On idle state, cpu temperature about 37 degress, 0% CPU used.. and fan is still running.

It is not the highest speed, but i can hear ist very well.

I had tried to setup quite and even fanless mode in BIOS, but without success..

Can you please help?

This is kind of useless for me.

I have another (older) NUC at work, also with i5, bought half year ago.. and it is really quite.

Fan is running only on heavy load.

Thanks,

Lukas

Hi all

I would like to know which temperature values are "normal" for the different NUC models NUC8i3, NUC8i5 and NUC8i7. I would be happy if you would share your values with me. It would be great if the values in idle and load are separated.

I have a NUC8i5BEH.

ConditionTemp
Idle~35 °C
light use (browsing, text editing, music playback)up to ~55 °C
full loadup to ~82 °C

Replacing the standard fan with a more efficient one?

Hi all,

I find the NUC8i5 too loud (here).

Now I consider whether the problem can be solved by replacing the standard fan with a more efficient one. Does anyone already have experience with this or can tell me what to look out for with the new fan (dimensions, connection ...)?

Hi,

i wanted to install the ITE Tech Consumer Infrared (CIR) Driver for Windows 10 64-bit for my NUC NUC8i7HVK.

When doing so I get the message:

There is a mistake when installing the Driver : 0xe000020b .

Abort this Installation .

Please reboot and try again .

Rebootet several times but always got this message.

In device manage under Human Interface Devices I also don’t see any infrared device.

NUC7i3BNK - No sound through HDMI to a LG BH9530TW

Hi

I've bought some time last year a NUC7i3BNK. Everything was all nice and working until I updated my Windows 10 to the latest version earlier this year.

The issue now is that I somehow lost my audio to the BH9530TW. Video is still all fine but my NUC doesn't even display any output sound device anymore.

When I directly connect it to my TV, the audio is correctly recognized. The issue persisted through any updates I did (BIOS, HDMI, further OS updates, Graphics / Sound driver).

Any idea what I can do to bring my sound back? I've attached the detail report from the intel software.

Thanks

NUC8i7HVK HDMI signal problem

Hello,

I have a quite annoying video problem with my NUC8I7HVK, the video signal keeps refreshing randomly (the TV detect the NUC as the HDMI cable was just plugged)

Le nuc is connected to the TV using a HDMI cable..(HDMI 2.0 Câble, gold contacts, Ultra HD 4K rés 4096 x 2160p (60Hz), 32 cannals, Ethernet Speed 100MB/s, 4K 3D Support, Retour Audio (ARC), 18Gbps)

I tried using a Mini Diplay- HDMI cable but the resolution is only of 1080P (this is surely due to the cable limitation.. i will try with a new high-end cable soon)

My config is as follows:

NUC8I7HVK

RAM 16 Gig 3200, HyperX HX432S20IB2K2/16 Kit (supported&tested by intel..)

Samsung 970 EVO 1to

Windows 10 pro 64x with update1803

Latest Bios 0049 (08/01/2018)

Latest Radeon driver 18.7.1 (08/10/2018)

Latest IntelHD driver 24.20.100.6229 (08/8/2018)

TV Sony Z9D with last update..

Tks for your ideas/support

Intel NUC i3 - second HDMI output does not detect monitor

I have an Intel NUC i3 with 2 x HDMI connectors.

Both are connected to a corresponding monitor with a pure HDMI cable.

Usually this works without any problems.

From time to time we have the problem that both monitors don't show a picture after booting.

If we then change the monitors, then all of a sudden one goes.

But the second monitor remains black.

Even a restart of the system has not changed this, the second monitor is no longer recognized.

If I connect the monitor to another PC, it runs.

I can't find any errors in the Windows log either.

Does anyone know the problem with 2 x monitors via HDMI on an Intel NUC?

HDR10 on NUC7i5BNH

Windows 10 Home 64, current insider fast lane build 18262(same problem experienced on earlier builds)

Graphic drivers tried, win64_24.20.100.6286, win64_25.20.100.6323, win64_25.20.100.6326(currently installed)

Latest BIOS

I have a TCL 65" 4K TV capable of HDR10.

When I enable HDMI 2.0 on the TV it runs 60Hz 3840x2160 (also 4096x2160) with no problem whatsoever .

BUT when I enable HDR in Windows the screen becomes unstable, sometimes everything seems OK but then a thin white line will appear at the bottom

of the screen sometimes this white line will flicker and other times not. Ones the line appears its the to stay until I run Iris display settings(that crashes occasionally) and just apply

standard setting and the screen will go back to normal for a while.

Also the screen becomes sort of milky white'ish when using browser to stream and from what I can gather that's normal when none HDR content is displayed.

But it's that irritating white line that's the issue. I don't think it's a CABLE issue since 60Hz is working fine and I have also tried a few different HDMI2 cables.

Is this a problem with the graphics driver, win10HDR or a combination of the two? Early days issue?

I'm not a gamer so I'm quite happy to run at 60Hz 3840x2160 but I want to know why I have this problem.

BIOS update from 0040 to 0051

Hi

I have a NUC8i7HVK with BIOS ver 0040. I just ran the Intel Driver and Support Assistant and it told me that ver 0051 was available for download and install.

Should I do that or should I install the versions before that starting at 0044 and then install 0051?

Thanks

Performance problem with Samsung 970 EVO on NUC7i7DNKE

I have a new Intel NUC7i7DNKE and Samsung 970 EVO 250GB NVMe SSD. The advertised speed of this is 3,500 MB/s for read, and the most I can get is half of that, i.e., 1.8GB/s. Supposedly, BIOS version 52 was made to resolve this issue.

The NUC came with BIOS V44. I read the release notes for V56, and downloaded DNi70056.bio and applied it via the F7 bios update method. Nowhere did I see a note that said apply one BIOS update at a time to get from V44 to V56 either in the release notes or the read me. The update went fine, reset BIOS settings, set machine up, and, was disappointed to see 1.8GB/s speed. I started reading on this site, and found several with the same issue, a few threads were here:

Performance problem with Samsung 970 Pro on NUC7i7DNKE

NUC7i7DNK not achieving proper NVME speeds

But there were others as well. The solution was BIOS V52 apparently, which was long before I even had said machine. Later BIOS versions said nothing about needing to use the jumper recovery method. The notes for V52 say:

Fixed the issue where M.2 PCIe SSDs would run at Generation 2 speeds. and

To fix the M.2 issue, the BIOS must be installed using the jumper recovery method.

But no later BIOS have those notes. So, I thought I would simply go back to V52 with a jumper recovery method, but, it appears this is not possible as V53 says:

Due to the Intel® ME firmware update in BIOS version 0053, you can’t downgrade to version 0052 or earlier.

In case the jumper method still worked, I decided to use the jumper method for V53, it worked, and then I updated back to the more recent V57. Speed was still 1.8GB/s.

I inquired in the other thread about this but was told to make a new case so here it is. I was certainly unaware that only V52 could be used as it was not stated anywhere, nor was I aware of this defect.

Surely there is some sort of method to still update the NUC to get the M.2 SSD fix? Otherwise, all NUCs sold that have an older BIOS and people not realizing this will be permanently defective.

So, what I am wanting is a path to get my NUC7i7DNKE fixed as far as the M.2 SSD speed issue goes.

Random Shutdowns

Starting yesterday afternoon, my 6i7KYK started randomly rebooting. At first I thought it was an issue with a Windows 10 update, but it will randomly reboot even if running an OS off a flash drive so it seems to be a hardware issue. Is there a known problem for this, and a possible solution? Thanks.

NUC Showing old USB devices in Boot Menu

I can't boot from my USB drive anymore.  It shows a device I had used once, then re-imaged and changed the name but is still persistent in the boot menu.  I have seen another thread about it but the question wasn't answered.

I don't currently have a bootable SSD/HDD in there so I can't go into Windows/Linux to rewrite the UEFI and the recommendation was to clear the UEFI from a hex dump and rewrite it, however I didn't get any addresses or anything.  I tried to unload the device driver from the EFI shell but upon reset it is still there with its old name.

Any ideas?

NUCi3BN HDMI flicker/blank

$

Hey Intel,

I have a NUC7i3BN connected to a Denon AVR-S730H to a Sharp LC-60LE550U via HDMI

Running Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic) using the i915/modesetting driver. (all xserver-xorg-video-* have been purged)

Resolution: 1080p (1920x1080x60)

I, too, am experiencing the flicker/blanking problem. What I have noticed is this: it occurs during high-white or very dark (90%+ black) screens. It can be triggered using the Test Patterns that are included with Kodi v17.x

Also, the Kodi test patterns do not always display correctly and exhibit banding/moire when the test pattern should be uniform across the entire screen. This behaviour is inconsistent.

I am using the latest firmware (70), my AVR firmware is up-to-date, the only thing I cannot do is apply the HDMI firmware from your site as I am not running Windows on this machine.

I've had semi-occasional success mitigating the issue by disabling "Limited colors (RGB 16:235)" in Kodi (or sometimes enabling it?), however my TV is not capable of displaying Full RGB, so Limited is the mode I need to use if I want to see correct black levels. I am not sure if i915 itself is outputting Full or Limited, xrandr only shows "Automatic" and not what the actual chosen mode is.

If you are not capable of reproducing this problem, then I will have to chalk it up to a faulty unit and I would like to have my NUC replaced. It was purchased from Newegg on 09/26/2018 and should still be under warranty. Please DM me with warranty/RMA instructions if that is the route we need to take. PS. It does not matter if I use xserver-xorg-video-intel -- the problem continues to exist.

Prior to using a NUC I was running a Raspberry Pi and never experienced this issue, so it's definitely an issue with the NUC.
