Amanero USB audio issues

In May I purchased a NUC7i5BNH to use as a media server. Initially it was fine. I have a large high resolution music library that I play though an external DAC using Amanero USB Audio. I switch between that audio output device and the Intel Display Audio, which I use to play video through my home theater receiver.

Lately I've had a lot of issues with the Intel Display Audio device malfunctioning, disappearing from my computer, or simply failing to perform. Right this minute the Intel Display Audio is the only one that will play audio, however. The USB audio output is now the one malfunctioning. Are these two devices in conflict with one another? Can I only have one or the other on this device? I didn't have any of these issues with a friend-built PC from 2012. Only with the brand new NUC.

I have run the audio device troubleshooter more times than I can count. Sometimes it finds an issue, but usually it doesn't. Sometimes rebooting works. But today it isn't working. At the moment I have the Amanero USB device selected for playback, but sound is continuing to issue from my home theater receiver, not the two-channel system it is supposed to play through.

One possible lead today was this error code I received prior to a forced reboot: "Stop code: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"

The computer said it would reboot after gathering the necessary information. That never happened, and I had to reboot manually with the power button.

I can't believe I'm having so many more problems with a new computer than I did with one from 2012. But I am. Not happy.

Hi,

Seen Intel NUC unboxing from old versions where US and EU plugs for the power adapter includes.

Is it same for generation 8, or does it only includes the plug for the country its bought?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I am seeing a large number of temperature warnings on my new NUC which I am using as a Plex server running CentOS 7.5.

Is this a common thing on a NUC?

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Cheers,

Random Reboots with NUC8I5BEK

I have the following configuration:

- Intel NUC8I5BEK

- Samsung EVO 860 500GB M.2

- Crucial 16GB SO-DIMM 2400Mhz (single module installed in slot 1)

The BIOS is updated to the latest version (0048). I did not alter the bios configuration, so it is running with default settings.

I am running Ubuntu 18.10 Desktop with Docker and a couple of containers (HASSIO). The SSD is formatted as ext4. When I am using the NUC, there are no issues. However, when the device is idle, it randomly reboots, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 2 hours, but it has not been running 3 hours idle without rebooting. There is no crash report, no special errors logs.

I also tried running Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop LTS, but this has the same effect.

Partial output from "last reboot":

reboot   system boot  4.18.0-10-generi Sun Oct 21 16:34   still running

reboot   system boot  4.18.0-10-generi Sun Oct 21 15:56   still running

reboot   system boot  4.18.0-10-generi Sun Oct 21 08:03   still running

...

I did a benchmark on the SSD using the Disk application, and this executed without any issues. I also did some memory testing (with the command line tool as memtest86+ is not supported with UEFI), and found no errors.

I have no clue where to start looking, and the device is unusable as server this way. Any suggestions what I can try? Are they any BIOS settings I should be looking at?

I have been reading a lot of topics about similar problems (random reboots with Intel NUC). Often, it is due to a hardware fault (faulty adapter), and some people have suggested to reduce the memory speed to 2133 MHz - how can I achieve this?

My NUC8I5BEK with INTEL 760P 256G SSD is connecting to Sony Tv as media center. However, once the screen off, i will never be able to wake it up by any means except to power it off and turn on again.

Here are what i did, but still cannot resolve this issue.

(1) Update all drivers and windows 10 update (1809)

(2) Disable deep sleep in BIOS

(3) 3 mins screen off

(4) never sleep

It is really annoying now as i have to set screenoff and sleep to "never"

NUC7i5BNH-Intel Graphics UWD 25.20.100.6444 release

Starting today, upcoming releases of Intel Graphics drivers will be UWD, and they will replace your Current Drivers, which are now considered legacy. While it is possible to roll back to legacy drivers if necessary, you will need to manually uninstall the modern driver through the 'Apps and Features' page in Windows.

To start things off, Intel is releasing version 25.20.100.6444 of its graphics driver suite, which is a UWD and is only available for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and later. It's also only available in a 64-bit flavor.

I just installed this version on my NUC7i5BNH running windows 10 insider build 18290(released today) and I am pleased to say everything is looking Good.

DC3217IYE: Constant crashes with GPU acceleration

Hello,

I bought an used DC3217IYE, relatively cheap and out of warranty. Works fine except one thing: I get constant crashes/lockups with screen flashing whenever I install the drivers for the integrated GPU (HD 4000).  Tried different drivers versions, different OSes, BIOS versions... No luck. However, when a basic display driver is installed, everything's fine.

In my opinion, that part of the hardware is faulty but it's sad to put it in the trash and I have enough servers to use it that way. Any ideas that could prevent the GPU from crashing ? Crazy ideas are accepted !

Laurent.

NUC7PJYH: BSODs and hangs after BIOS update - 45 and 46

The first BSOD (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED) happened soon after BIOS update from 44 to 45.

After updating to 46 they became quite frequent. The last one said "SYSTEM_SERVICE-EXCEPTION".  Sometimes the PC just hangs typically, while in browser.  Once it hang at "Welcome" screen.

Before updating to 45 the system was rock solid.

Has anyone else experienced such problems after updating the BIOS?

Thanks,   Peter

Cant install Win 8.1 on NUC 5i3RYH whats wrong?

My NUC was replaced under warranty and I am trying to get going again and having all kinds of problems.

1) I prepared by downloading all the 8.1 drivers and held them aside

2) I erased the HD by right-clicking the drive and then format with NTFS the non-quick way.

3) I tried to install 8.1 using a plug/play DVD-ROM and hit errors, including that Windows couldnt find a partition to install on.

4) Using the link "Repair Windows" on one of the DVD installation screens, I went to Advanced options and using the Command prompt and DISKPART, partitioned and then formatted the HD.

5) Before and after that step, i had two repeating errors. 1) "Boot Configuration Data" file is missing or broken. I didnt have such an error on my first NUC, why now? Where is such a file, anyway? Cant be on the HD or DVD, so does it mean one has to created for the first time? How to do that? I googled the problem and followed the Command prompt steps to repair the file but that didnt work. I also read about downloading a creation program that runs off of a flash drive but, im not sure, the instructions for that seem to repeat the Command steps that already didnt work. Need guidance here. 2) After about 2-3 minutes of Windows installing, it pauses and asks for the Media driver (for USB, DVD, HD). But in my folder of drivers there isnt any such driver, only for Graphics and Audio. Wouldnt these be ordinarily on the Windows installation disk? Yet they are not.  Looking at the driver list for this NUC and 8.1 on the website, there isnt a Media driver. I also had no such request on my first 5i3RYH.

What can i do? Thank you!

NUC8i7HVK + LG 38WK95C-W HDMI signal issue

The NUC8i7HVK running Windows 10 Home is unable to sustain an HDMI signal to the LG 38WK95C-W ultrawide monitor. HDMI works perfectly when I use an older 24" Dell display, but on the LG panel the result is what you see in the attached video.

What I've done:

  • Updated all drivers and BIOS.
  • Tested all the HDMI ports (on both the NUC8i7HVK and the 38WK95C-W).
  • Obtained new HDMI cables - specifically, HDMI to HDMI and mini DisplayPort to HDMI.

None of the above help. The only way I'm able to get this to work is by using a USB-C to USB-C cable or a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. This is sub-optimal, because the whole point of this setup for me was to use the LG's PBP feature to have the Windows box output to half the screen via HDMI and for my MacBook to charge and output via USB-C. Unfortunately, the 38WK95C-W has only one USB-C input and the PBP feature doesn't work with DisplayPort.

Intel: can this be fixed?

New LG monitor not working with NUC8i7HVK over USB-C

The monitor is a LG 32UD99-W that accepts USB-C, HDMI, & DisplayPort inputs.  This is my second monitor.  I sent the first one back because of this problem.  Sadly, the new monitor exhibits the same unacceptable behavior.  Both monitors work just fine with HDMI.  No issues.  But if I use USB-C, the monitor cycles on and off about every five seconds.  All Intel, Windows10, and LG drivers are up to date.  This is driving me crazy.  HELP!

Performance problem with Samsung 970 EVO on NUC7i7DNKE

$

I have a new Intel NUC7i7DNKE and Samsung 970 EVO 250GB NVMe SSD. The advertised speed of this is 3,500 MB/s for read, and the most I can get is half of that, i.e., 1.8GB/s. Supposedly, BIOS version 52 was made to resolve this issue.

The NUC came with BIOS V44. I read the release notes for V56, and downloaded DNi70056.bio and applied it via the F7 bios update method. Nowhere did I see a note that said apply one BIOS update at a time to get from V44 to V56 either in the release notes or the read me. The update went fine, reset BIOS settings, set machine up, and, was disappointed to see 1.8GB/s speed. I started reading on this site, and found several with the same issue, a few threads were here:

Performance problem with Samsung 970 Pro on NUC7i7DNKE

NUC7i7DNK not achieving proper NVME speeds

But there were others as well. The solution was BIOS V52 apparently, which was long before I even had said machine. Later BIOS versions said nothing about needing to use the jumper recovery method. The notes for V52 say:

Fixed the issue where M.2 PCIe SSDs would run at Generation 2 speeds. and

To fix the M.2 issue, the BIOS must be installed using the jumper recovery method.

But no later BIOS have those notes. So, I thought I would simply go back to V52 with a jumper recovery method, but, it appears this is not possible as V53 says:

Due to the Intel® ME firmware update in BIOS version 0053, you can’t downgrade to version 0052 or earlier.

In case the jumper method still worked, I decided to use the jumper method for V53, it worked, and then I updated back to the more recent V57. Speed was still 1.8GB/s.

I inquired in the other thread about this but was told to make a new case so here it is. I was certainly unaware that only V52 could be used as it was not stated anywhere, nor was I aware of this defect.

Surely there is some sort of method to still update the NUC to get the M.2 SSD fix? Otherwise, all NUCs sold that have an older BIOS and people not realizing this will be permanently defective.

So, what I am wanting is a path to get my NUC7i7DNKE fixed as far as the M.2 SSD speed issue goes.
