Hello all

I have 10 new nuc kits and need to install windows 7 pro, office 2013, drivers and other on all.  I have valid licenses for my software but each one has a separate product key ? Does Intel have a OEM tool kit ?st

Is there a way to automate this installation on all 10 kits ?

Thanks

NUC D34010WYK - HDMI outputs intermittently cuts when Ethernet cable connected

Many times I get no video through HDMI.

Lately I noticed that this problem disappears when I disconnect the Ethernet cable, but I obviously need that one

I bought a DisplayPort cable to try to workaround the problem, and the video is stable that way. Unfortunately - get no sound with that output

Use Lubuntu as OS

Intel NUC When I hit f7 nothing happens

Hi there,

I'm trying to update the BIOS but when I hit f7 nothing happens. It has vmware esxi on it so I cannot update the BIOS from windows. It has version 17 on it and I'm trying to update it to the latest version which is 30.

I bought 2 NUC's for my vmware lab. I bought two DC53427HYE. I was able to update the BIOS on one of the NUC's but not this other one because again when I hit f7 to update it nothing happens.

Please advise.

NUC BIOS freezes/lock up when using some menus

I have a D54250WYK. Entering the BIOS everything works fine for a few minutes. Once I navigate to CPU, memory or other performance settings, simply accessing some drop-down lists causes the BIOS to freeze. The BIOS clock and diagnostics continue to run; however, it no longer responds to keyboard presses, except for Ctrl+Alt+Del, which does restart. I can reproduce the behavior every time.

I have tried using different RAM modules. I even returned the NUC for a new one. Same behavior. The RAM is a 2x4GB 1.35V DDR3 PC3-12800 SODIMM kit. I tried upgrading the BIOS to the latest version, and it also has the same problem.

D34010WYK Sensor Map/Labels???

I tried several Sensor Monitoring software solutions for Ubuntu 13.10 including, but not limited too, psensor, and sensors-indicator. I use psensor for my desktop because it correctly picked up and listed all my available sensors, and the reason why I wanted to use that for the NUC is because it also has a psensor-server package that works by installing an app on your phone/tablet and the psensor-server on NUC will send the readings to the phone app. But in this case of the NUC sensors-indicator provides may more sensor readings . Here is an picture of my readings, and this is where my question/inquiry comes to light:

sensindi.pngpreff.png

As you will see everything looks great except for "SYSTIN= 253F" now I am assuming that has to be incorrect for one reason or another, it is not specific to this app, no matter what sensor app you use SYSTIN is listed with that highly absurd number.

So I put this out there to see why that is happening?

And if possible get the sensors that are listed with generic label identified with specific info?

D54250WYK - speed of processor limited by system firmware?

Is anybody getting these messages in their event logs:-

The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for xxx seconds since the last report.

The speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for xxx seconds since the last report.

The speed of processor 2 in group 0 is being limited by firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for xxx seconds since the last report.

The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for xxx seconds since the last report.

Where "xxx" varies from 71 to 86399 seconds.

This machine is essentially sitting idle on my desk (waiting for the USB3 fix ...hint hint) so its workload is negligible. I have noticed these since day 1 but because I had so many other things to sort out it was low on my priority list. I can't see any pattern as to how often they occur but it is at least 3 times every 24 hours. A quick Google search talks about turning off Speedstep in the BIOS but that sort of defeats the purpose of having speedstep doesn't it?

Any thoughts?

DN2820FYKH DTS-HD?

I've setup my 2820 NUC kit, and under supported audio formats in windows 8.1 DTS-HD is not listed. I've installed all the drivers provided in the NUC driver bundle at Download Center , and attempted to install the ME driver at Download Center , but I'm still unable to do DTS-HD passthrough. Is there a driver available for the 2820 that allows this?

The product spec at http://downloadmirror.intel.com/23417/eng/DN2820FY_TechProdSpec01.pdf lists DTS-HD as a feature of this kit.

Thanks for any help!

NUC HTPC Sound issues

$

Hello everyone,

Really hoping you can help.  I have recently purchased an Intel NUC system (i3, dual HDMI) and while I love the form factor and design I am having issues using this as a HTPC.  The system sets up flawlessly and I can use it to view and listen to whatever in a browser or via XBMC for streaming stuff from my NAS.  However, when I turn off all my components and come back to the system later there are no Audio devices detected.  The speaker in the task tray will show a red X and when I try to auto detect issues it doesn't find any audio devices.  The only resolution is to reboot the system.  I am running Windows 8 Pro and have tried both HDMI ports on the back.  Again, this only occurs when I turn off my other components and come back later to use the system.

My setup is the Intel NUC is connected to an HDMI port on the back of my Yamaha receiver.  My Yamaha receiver is then hooked up to my Samsung Plasma television.  It seems when the HDMI signal from the NUC to the receiver is lost, the audio device issues occurs when the receiver starts back up.  This isn't an issue with the receiver as I have tried the other 4 HDMI ports and all other devices work, and when I try the NUC on those the same issue occurs when I come back.  I am also positive of this as I have a Windows Home Server hooked up to the same setup via HDMI and the issue doesn't occur.  The Windows Home Server is 2011 and is running an i3 as well.

I looked through the BIOS on the NUC and couldn't find anything that would SEEM to cause this issue.  I am running the latest video HD4000 driver found on the intel NUC downloads site.

I am really at a loss, and unfortunately this is very frustrating.  Now, Windows 8 does reboot quickly, but I shouldn't have to do this each and every time I use the system.  I really hope you guys an help, otherwise I'll need to offload this great little device and try something else.

Intel Boot Agent GE - How to avoid exiting

$

I am testing the NUC for use in a setup, where a number of devices are mounted in closed environments, that is not easily accessed.

They are using PXE to get an image from a bootserver, and does not have mouse or keyboards attached

But, in some situations (due to power drops), they are rebooted when the boot server is not available

In this situation, the Intel Boot Agent GE (v1.4.04) exits, and the only way I have found to get it to retry is to connect a keyboard and press a key (or cycle the power again)

Does anyone know a way to get the Boot Agent to continue retrying, instead of quitting ?

What's the cause of some unexpected results during build of a D54250WYK ?

I have just installed Win7 Pro 64-bit onto a new NUC.  Had a few unexpected results, so would appreciate advice on likely source of problem, NUC, or what other component.

After installing the OS from a USB-DVD drive, I installed NUC drivers and App software from a USB3 pendrive.

I bought the Integral pendrive new for this purpose.  Although it works without causing an error message in 2 other PCs, whenever I plug it into the NUC I see a message "USB device not recognised" - but Explorer on the NUC is able to read and copy the files apparently without problem.  I see same message at coldstart even without a pendrive plugged in.  As the 2 front USB ports are used by the KB & Mouse, I tried the pendrive in both rear USB ports with same result.  I dont want to bootup without KB & Mouse as it may require a unrecommended hard switch-off.   I then installed the HWinfo64 utility to inspect the USB ports.  It lists 13 USB ports, most shown as 'Unconnected', but Port 7 "Device failed enumeration".   It lists Port1 as the front inner USB, Port2 as front outer USB, Port 12 as rear lower USB, and Port 13 as rear upper USB.  So I am wondering if Port7 is faulty, or connected to some faulty internal device ?   My only internal additions are RAM, SSD, & Wireless-AC 7260.  Externally, (apart from KB & Mouse on USB Ports 1 & 2), I have connected a 3.5mm audio lead to external HiFi, and a 'Cable Matters' miniHDMI to VGA adapter cable.

Second unexpected behaviour, although Windows installed using default 'Balanced' power profile set at 10 minutes screen blanking, the Dell M992 monitor, often but not always, screen blanks twice briefly in quick succession after only a few minutes of idle.   (It blanks normally after the Windows 10 minutes idle time).  The monitor has no power-save option in its setup menu.  I don't remember it doing that before but have no another pc to hand to check if repeatable with another PC.  The monitor hasnt been used for a few years so may be the cause, but thought to ask if this could be a NUC issue.

Thirdly, I see many posts on subject of noise (and heat).   This NUC is quite noticeably louder at idle than my previous miniPC the Acer Revo R3610 which is almost inaudible in a quiet room.   The NUC noise (the fan) is like a quiet whine, a bit like a jet engine starting up when I switch on - sorry about the comparison but I couldnt think of another noise to compare with.    This is from a cold start where room temperature 18c, and HWinfo64 reports a fan speed of 2,900RPM at cold start.   Yesterday it reported 3,600RPM after many hours at near idle.  I have not altered any BIOS settings.

Fourthly, boot time is 18 seconds to the F2 prompt, 45 seconds to when the mouse cursor becomes responsive.  Is this to be expected ?    This is my first SSD based system, and I read boots from SSD are much faster than HDD.

Rest of my hardware is 2x4GB Crucial CT51264BF160BJ,  Sandisk X110 256GB,  Wireless-AC 7260.  I have installed only a few Apps so far, so SSD shows 86.1% free.

Having installed Win7 Pro SP1 64-bit, I searched Intel Download Centre for correct drivers Desktop>D54250WYK.  It listed 10 files.   However, as executing the WYK-WYB-Win7-64bitDriver-Bundle EXE caused an unpack into 1 subfolder with many subfolders called: Audio, Chipset, Consumer Infrared, Graphics, Intel ME, LAN, Rapid Start Tech,  Rapid Storage tech, Smart Connect Tech, USB3, I just executed the Chipset file followed by all others from that bundle, which seemed to COMPLETE all of the required driver install, excepting WiFi, I thought no point running the remaining 9 files from that initial list of 10.   Once I had executed the 7260 Driver + PROSet install, no yellow exclamation marks remained in Device Mgr.    As I saw no advice on the D54250WYK Win7 64-bit Driver install procedure, can you confirm if the above procedure is correct ?

Thank you.

D34010WYK memory - 8GB or 16GB?

I've just ordered a NUC D34010WYK and I think I can just use 1 memory slot? I was thinking of getting 8GB now and the other 8 later if I think I need it.

The question is: do I need 16GB? Any advantage in the real world?

I notice a lot of the reviews are done using just 8MB, usually in pairs.

Anybody got any experience of just using one slot?

Thanks

d54250wyk problem with stereo sound

Hi all,

I have my NUC connected through my AVR (Denon AVR-1910) to my TV with HDMI, and almost everything works flawlessly. Except when I play video content with stereo sound, for instance YouTube.

In example if I open the browser, go to YouTube, and play a video, this usually works. However, if I watch one clip, and then want to watch another just a few seconds later the sound disappear. I can solve this problem by changing the source back and forth, or just toggling between a stereo/direct mode. Sometimes it also works to enable any random equalizing effect on the AVR, and then just turn it off. But toggling stereo/direct mode is the most reliable. The problem also occurs if I pause the video for more than about 4 seconds.

Dolby/DTS or any other HQ/HD sound works every time.

All my drivers are the latest, but I do not think my BIOS is the latest. Did not want to this unless it would be considered necessary.

DC53427HYE hangs at Intel bios logo when USB 3.0 DAS is connected

DC53427HYE with latest RKPPT10H.86A 0030 Bios

8GB memory

120GB Intel msata SSD

Windows Server 2012 R2

This is a manifestation of the same issue described here.

Re: D34010WYK does neither boot from USB 3.0 nor boots with plugged USB 3.0 drive

The DC53427HYE NUC will hang at the Intel bios logo and not successfully boot from cold or from a reboot when a USB 3.0 disk is attached to the USB 3 port.

I have tested and confirmed the issue with both an unpowered Iomega EGo USB 3.0 hard disk and an externally powered WD Essentials external USB 3.0 hard disk.

Extensive testing over the weekend with UEFI enabled and disabled in the bios settings produced  the same hanging at Intel bios logo result.

My testing also found that if the attached USB 3.0  disk is completely blank with no partitions (Primary or Extended) configured, the system will boot from cold and reboot successfully into the OS on the msata SSD.

This clearly points to the issue residing in the NUC bios at cold boot/reboot  time.

It is *not* an issue with the OS running on the platform. Both disks hot plug successfully when the OS is running.

Please fix. The NUC is unusable until I can get it rebooting stably with external USB 3.0 attached storage.

NUC Haswell reboots after shutdown

If I chose shut-down it turns off but starts again. How so fix? Ubuntu 13.10. NUC Haswell BIOS version: 0022 (same with 0018).

I just found this: Re: D54250WYK Shutdown Reboots

but the asker didn't reply. What should I try? (except I will not install windows because I don't have it because it's a proprietary bad anyway OS).

Bios 0022, can't see bios because of output or refresh rate

$

Built the D54250WYK and it's been working fine for a week. I could get into and out of bios with no issues. Today I updated from bios 0018 to 0022. Now can not get into bios, but can get into windows fine.

It seems like the video output from the NUC is not a refresh rate or resolution that my monitor likes. When I hit F2 at boot, it keeps waking up and going to sleep. I've seen this before when a computer is not outputing a signal the monitor likes. Confirmed this is the issue by moving the NUC to a new monitor and bios displays fine. The monitor is fails to display on is a monoprice 27"  It worked fine on a Dell 2407wfp.

Again, it worked fine with 0018, but no longer works after updating to 0022.

Hope that helps someone. If anyone has ideas on my issue, please share.

F2 Entering BIOS

$

I can allways replicate F2 not working and also F2 that does work.

NOTE: I am using HDMI port, not DP (dont know hot this is on DP, since I dont have DP-HDMI conversion cable).

In my workplace I have two sets of monitors... connected to one allways works, connected to other one does work once out of 30 tryouts (I didnt count but will speculate here).

At home I have Yamaha AVR on which NUC is normally connected and AVR is connected to Samsung TV.

In this scenario F2 doesnt work (or it works again once out of cca. 30 tryouts).

If I connect NUC directly to TV then F2 allways works.

When F2 doesnt work it freezes NUC totaly (needs to be powered off with a button... CTRL-ALT-DEL doesnt work at all).

Intel should take care of this problem (which is present already for years).

I think the BIOS freezes on F2 action if somehow doesnt recognises the display, even doe the picture is up (maybe something with EDID???).

@Intel:

Please, take this seriously and do a working BIOS ASAP.

I am prepared to take a test trip for you (Intel) on my equipment... if you need, just contact me.

NUC Kit D54250WYK memory error on bootup

Just received the new NUC Kit D54250WYK yesterday and transferred the components from a 1st generation i3 Nuc....which ran perfect.  The new NUC wont boot and is showing the 3 blink memory error.  I have reseated in many times and have tried all the combinations of chips and slots.  I reinstalled all the components back in the old NUC and it fires right back up, so I know the components are fine.  I'm using the Crucial Vengance memory, 16GB in total.  Any suggestions before I have to pack it back up and send in as defective?p
