NUC5i5RYK CIR - Can't find device!!

$

I have just got 2 latest i5 NUC. NUC5i5RYK (the slim version) and NUC5i5RYK (the normal height version that supports 2.5" HDD).

The RYK's CIR module seems to be problematic. When installing official driver from Intel download page, it always says 'Can't find device!!' - Device Manager says the CIR device's HardwareID is ACPI\PNP0530. However the NUC5i5RYH (the thicker version) does not have this issue - Device Manager says the CIR device's HardwareID is ACPI\NTN0530.

The RYK was manufactured in May 15 whereas the RYH was manufactured on 11 Aug 15. The boards are supposed to be exactly the same. Both shipped with BIOS 0246.

I have Samsung SM951 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD and 16GB of Kingston RAM in it.

Here's what has happend so far:

1. Out of the box BIOS 0246. Installed Windows 7 with SP1 x64 from external DVD - all fine.

2. Initially I installed the official Nuvoton SIO CIR driver fine (SIO_CIR_win7_20120801_2.7.1005.exe from Intel download) - didn't notice anything wrong. This means it ONCE worked.

3. After I pretty much installed all drivers I went to update the BIOS to the latest 0350

4. Then my system won't boot. Researched a bit and realized that the new BIOS may not support PCIe SSD. So I flashed BIOS back to 0246.

5. From here I saw the 'Unknown Device' in Device Manager.

6. Tried uninstalling or running the CIR installer again, it wouldn't install at all saying that "Can't find CIR device!!"

7. I checked the Hardware ID of the "Unknown Device" which says ACPI\PNP0530

8. Tried reinstalling fresh system (W7x64), tried changing to Samsung 850 EVO 256GB M.2 SSD (fresh installation), tried updating BIOS to 0247, 0249, 0348, 0350 (the 03xx BIOS won't boot M.2 drives) - no good.

9. Tried installing Windows 10 x64 - direct to the new Windows 10 bluescreen so gave up.

I noticed the difference of PNP0530 vs NTN0530. NTN should be referring to NuvoToN while PNP probably just means it doesn't know the manufacture code. So it seems like my CIR is somehow disabled as per your description but it is clearly enabled in BIOS. Tried disable/enable again - no luck. Tried resuming from Sleep (S3) as per described in this post - NUC5i3RY*: Bug in BIOS Version RYBDWi35.86A.0249.2015.0529.1640 - but it won't be re-enabled like that post indicated (still 'PNP0530').

So I am wondering if the FIRST upgrade to 0350 has caused the CIR to be disabled forever even when BIOS setting says it is enabled???

Will try putting in normal SSD using the RYH's cable and install Windows 10 under BIOS 0350 tomorrow - let's see if the CIR can be 're-enabled' somehow.

Pretty bad experience - FRUSTRATING - especially when this is flagship product from Intel...

[NUC5i5RYH] Intel 535 SSD not showing up in BIOS?

Hi guys!

I recently purchased the NUC5i5RYH kit with the Intel 535 120GB 2.5" SATA III SSD for use as storage with it.

However, after slotting the SSD into the 2.5" slot on my NUC, it is not showing up in BIOS.

I have tried:

* Checking SSD SATA and power connections to the NUC.

* Making sure the SATA mode is set to AHCI in BIOS.

* Updating BIOS to the latest version.

* Checking if the SSD works on another computer (it does).

Not sure if you'd need it, but the only other component in the NUC is some Kingston KVR16LS11/4 1600Mhz 4GB RAM, which is working fine afaik.

I am not sure why my NUC wont pick up my SSD Can you help?

T6600 CPU - What other Core 2 Duo is it compatible with?

Hello - I've a Sony VAIO VGN-NW240F laptop. The current CPU is a T6600, clocked at 2.2 GHz.

The Sony has an FSB of 800 MHz, and no BIOS update has ever been released. However, I'd like to see what is the maximum / fastest Intel CPU I can swap out the current one for.

Running CPU-Z I get that the chipset is GM45/GM47 and the socket P (478 pins). Also found this list http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_2_Duo_Mobile/T9500_%28Socket_P%29.html

Will *only* the 800 MHz CPUs work?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Need Help! Intel NUC not booting...

Hello all,

I recently purchased an Intel NUC D54250WYK about a week ago but so far have not been able to get it to boot up.

Currently the NUC's power button is flashing blue x3 for 1 second then about a 4 second pause which then repeats and turns off and restarts after cycling a few times.

I am using crucial ram from intel's approved list and have also confirmed it to be working on another machine. I've tried swapping the ram around, using one at a time, using different ram from working machines but so far no luck.

The NUC seemed to initially work when i first tried it in that the power light was solid blue but would not display anything on my TV which i think was due to the bios being out of date. The blinking light appeared after i attempted to update the bios with a usb stick.

If anyone can offer advice/solutions i would be grateful.

hi

Almost a year ago I purchased NUCD34010WYK1

As of few weeks ago both back panel usb ports stopped working, i tried connecting a mouse, keyboard and usb key - both on bios phase and os

+ 2 front panel usb ports doesn’t supply enough power to drive both usb stick (with os on it) and keyboard

Before that – most ports were functional (although I didn’t use them frequently)

i'm running openelec 6 through a usb key

bios was upgraded (after the issues started) to the latest , i think 41

do you have any suggestion?

thanks

I am using NUC5CPYH with Windows 8.1 and the latest Intel graphic driver, but it cannot passthrough DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD audio via HDMI to my AV receiver on any programs.

So, are there any ways to get NUC5CPYH passthrough DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD Audio?

Hi

On my NUC5i3RYH they aren't any possibility to turn off/on bluetooth

Other computers offer that when you right click on the bluetooth icon down to the left in the taskbar

I have the latest driver installed 17.1.1532.1814

RMA Replacement NUC Freezes

Hi, I just received a replacement NUC through warranty RMA and so far have been unable to boot off my old drive or install a new o/s.  It won't let me update the bios or get into the bios settings.  It just keeps freezing on the Intel Nuc POST screen.  One time it started booting the OS, but quickly froze on the OPENELEC logo.  I have tried different 1.35v RAM, but the same thing occurs.  It's an advanced RMA so I am supposed to return my old NUC, but that one is at least usable.  Can I send the replacement NUC back?  Can I get another replacement at no charge this time?  My RMA is 8001275960.

I tried online chat / phone, but couldn't get through to either.

NUC 5i5RYH still has problems with waking up sleeping (Display Port) monitors - Windows 10

$

I have many 5i5RYH out "in the wild."  The majority run Linux Mint 17.2.  When those systems' monitors sleep, the NUC wakes them up with user activity (i.e. KB, mouse, IR, etc.).

Not so with monitors connected using Display Port and with the NUC running under Windows 10.

This thread: NUC NUC5i5RYH HDMI Sleep Issue

seems to indicate the problem is solved with similar issues related to the HDMI port.

Unfortunately, I verified this problem still persists (today) under the following (very up-to-date) configuration:

NUC 5i5RYH

BIOS: RYBDWi35.86A (latest)

Intel Display Driver: 15.40.10.4300 (latest)

2 (HDMI) monitors connected with Belkin Mini-Display Port to 2x HDMI dongle (the adapter can be seen on Belkin's page here: F2CD059 | Belkin Business )

Intel or others, please confirm you see the same problem and advise on driver progress.  Is this known and is a beta driver available?

Will the DC3217IYE run of 12VDC

https://communities.intel.com/thread/49219

looking at the uplink it looks like the NUC will run off 12VDC on the external DC jack. However the manual on the DC3217IYE states 19V +/- 10%. I am thinking that all the NUCs can run off 12VDC even though the manual states otherwise. i hooked my DC3217IYE up to 12VDC and it's running. My concern is that i use this in a product solution and wonderign if i might run into any problems. if i can run it off 12VDC it eliminates a 12 to 19V DCDC converter. can you confirm 12VDC is ok? thanks!

NUC5i3RY*: Bug in BIOS Version RYBDWi35.86A.0249.2015.0529.1640

Hi,

I have a NUC5i3RYH with latest BIOS version and I've disabled the CIR receiver in BIOS setup. However, after resuming from S3 (hybrid standby and S4 are disabled in Win 8.1 Pro and Intel® Ready Mode Technology is NOT enabled/used) Device Manager shows an unknown device with following ID:

ACPI\PNP0530\0

There is no driver for this device and it doesn't matter if CIR was previously enabled in BIOS setup and the Nuvoton driver installed in Win 8.1. If you reboot the system, the unknown device is not visible until putting system in S3 sleep mode and then resuming.

I think, this is a bug because the disabled CIR is still somehow visible to the OS. When CIR is enabled, its hardware ID is very similar:

ACPI\NTN0530\0

Thanks.

NUC NUC5i7RYH BIOS 0350 stops Windows 7 from booting up

Windows 7 stopped booting up after updating our NUC NUC5i7RYH to BIOS 0350 from 0249. I will just get a black screen will a flashing cursor (underscore) as soon as it goes past the BIOS and after a while I will get this error: "Invalid system disk. Replace the disk, and then press any key".

I did a lot of troubleshooting using the Windows 7 recovery DVD trying to fix the BCD (e.g. bootrec /rebuildbcd), but nothing would fix the bootup. The bootrec /rebuildbcd command actually failed with this error: "The requested system device cannot be found".

I went as far as reformatting the drive and trying to do a clean install (don't worry, I had a full backup), but the Windows Installed said "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computer's hardware may not support booting from this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu".

I did go through all the BIOS settings to see if there was an incorrect setting, but couldn't find anything, even after comparing the BIOS settings with another NUC that still had the old firmware and was still booting up. I was able to install Windows on the NUC after I downgraded the BIOS back to 0249 (the Windows Installer did not show that error any more).

I have now downgraded the BIOS back to 0249 and restored the Windows installation, and the drive booted up again. I then upgraded the BIOS to 0348 and immediately the PC wouldn't boot. BIOS 0350 also doesn't boot. The PC booted up fine once I downgraded again to 0249.

I am using a 256GB Samsung SM951, M.2 (22x80) PCIe 3.0 (x4) AHCI SSD in this NUC.

Has anyone seen this same problem?

NUC5i5RYH Restarts after a shutdown

Joined the community  in hope someone can help me.

I bought a NUC5i5RYH and have installed Openelec and Windows 10, which automatically starts within 2 seconds of a shutdown from both Openelec (Kodi) or Windows 10, this is running with Hyper X 8gb DDR3L 1600 SODIMM memory and 320gb 2.5" Toshiba HDD. I have updated the bios to the current 0350 bios from the Intel website and have also switched off WOL or any wake setting in the bios to no avail. I don't see any settings for Deep S4/S5, the settings i have are Wake on LAN from S4/S5, Wake from S5, Wake S3 via CIR, Wake from S4 or S5 via CIR.

Obviously this is a problem many share and is there a solution out there, as i can't find one that works for me. is Intel doing anything about this?

NUC HTPC Sound issues

$

Hello everyone,

Really hoping you can help.  I have recently purchased an Intel NUC system (i3, dual HDMI) and while I love the form factor and design I am having issues using this as a HTPC.  The system sets up flawlessly and I can use it to view and listen to whatever in a browser or via XBMC for streaming stuff from my NAS.  However, when I turn off all my components and come back to the system later there are no Audio devices detected.  The speaker in the task tray will show a red X and when I try to auto detect issues it doesn't find any audio devices.  The only resolution is to reboot the system.  I am running Windows 8 Pro and have tried both HDMI ports on the back.  Again, this only occurs when I turn off my other components and come back later to use the system.

My setup is the Intel NUC is connected to an HDMI port on the back of my Yamaha receiver.  My Yamaha receiver is then hooked up to my Samsung Plasma television.  It seems when the HDMI signal from the NUC to the receiver is lost, the audio device issues occurs when the receiver starts back up.  This isn't an issue with the receiver as I have tried the other 4 HDMI ports and all other devices work, and when I try the NUC on those the same issue occurs when I come back.  I am also positive of this as I have a Windows Home Server hooked up to the same setup via HDMI and the issue doesn't occur.  The Windows Home Server is 2011 and is running an i3 as well.

I looked through the BIOS on the NUC and couldn't find anything that would SEEM to cause this issue.  I am running the latest video HD4000 driver found on the intel NUC downloads site.

I am really at a loss, and unfortunately this is very frustrating.  Now, Windows 8 does reboot quickly, but I shouldn't have to do this each and every time I use the system.  I really hope you guys an help, otherwise I'll need to offload this great little device and try something else.

Regards,

S.
