NUC5i5RYK Win 7, Multiple Daily Errors on Event Viewer
Hello,
3 months ago I purchased 3 Intel® NUC Kit NUC5i5RYK's for my small business and installed windows 7 on them. I have concerns about daily errors found in Event Viewer, here are screenshots https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6qjwL9857-NRXpVcGhnck5aWkh5eWtjRXhuQWpJNk5WLTVr , https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6qjwL9857-NQUJvc2FzRUJMUjR2QVpoQVFxdzlnY2w1VW1Z .
I would like to resolve them with your help thank you.
NUC 5i3 Not posting or booting or anything
Something wired just happened, I think my NUC is dead .
After my "Media-Setup"(wich is just a TV with a passively cooled NUC strapped to it) was unplugged and not Touched for a While(several Months) I wanted to start it again but nothing happened and I mean NOTHING no beeps no lights(power and network) no picture nothing.
Nothing was changed and it was not touched in Months. It was running fine 24/7 wit >70C temps for Months before it was shut down.
So I did the usual, resocket the RAM(tried the ram in a laptop and it worked fine), unplugged the ssd and checked the PSU but still nothing happened.
Then I removed the board and just plugged that in, then I at least saw the green power LED but still nothing happened when Ipressed the button.
Then I checked the button but that seems to be working acording to my Multimeter.
I then saw that if I press the Button for a long time (>20sec) sometimes the blue led would flash for a short time (>1sec) and sometimes the orange one too but it dod not correspond to any of the blinking paterns for the NUC.
I also tried different combinations of removing the BIOS battery and the jumper but to no avail.
This really sucks because I was looking forward to using my TV again after the whole Renovation thing and I also do not know if I can RMA it because of the Passively cooled case.
So does anybody know how I can fix it or if I can RMA it?
Also of I can RMA it do I send it to the Seller or to Intel directly and do I have to put it in the original case?
Help with NUC6i7KYK Display
Hi,
This is my 2nd NUC, from NUC5i7RYH.
After setting up the hardware and getting it connected, I couldn't get any display, even at BIOS level. I haven't got to installing an OS yet.
Here's what I tried.
- HDMI to TV (HDMI 1.4, does it the TV hdmi version matters ?)
- Mac Mini display DVI dongle to a monitor DVI input
- Mac Mini display VGA dongle to a monitor VGA
I tried switching to different HDMI cables which are working for other devices but no go.
The LED blink once after a while like it reboot when no boot media is detected or something. Fans are spinning.

NUC6iSYH doesn't boot from M2 SSD when SATA drive connected
I have bought a NUC6iSYH which I want to use as a small server. It has already the newest BIOS (v55) flashed.
I've connected an ADATA XPG SX8000 (NVMe) 256GB card to the M2 slot and installed Fedora 25 on it. So far so good - everything worked perfectly.
Now, I additionally connected a regular 2,5" SATA drive to the internal port (after having installed Fedora on the M2 SSD). It is a Samsung 640GB drive which previously worked in an other PC.
The NUC now doesn't boot from the M2 drive anymore. In the BIOS it says that no UEFI drives are available for booting. The M2 SSD is shown in the legacy area, but when I select it, NUC won't boot from it.
What is wrong? Is there any setting in the BIOS I missed?
NUC6I5SYK WoWLAN (wake on wifi) config problems
Hello,
does someone have experience with configuring his NUC with WoWLAN, wake on wifi? I tried so many different things, like BIOS settings, registry hacks, driver config and disabling fastboot.
Long story short: Nothing works.
The only thing I get working is, to start the NUC via WoWLAN from S3 (hibernate), but not from S5 (power off). I heard that this should be possible. I think the blocking point is, that the wifi connection in S5 breaks down. I can perfectly see that in the web interface of my Fritz.box. On S3, the device is shown, on S5, it's not.
I know, I know... no, power, no wifi, but it SHOULD work from what I read... just how?
I'm very thankful for every hint!
kind regards,
Mehrsau
PS: I'm using Win10 pro, if that's important at all.
NUC5i5ryh wakes up immediately after shutting down/suspend
My NUC started to act strangely after I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04. But now it exhibits this behaviour even if the OS is not yet booted.
This is what happens:
- at the initial connection to the power, it remains turned on
- if I turn it off via its power button, _before_ booting into the OS, it turns back on
- if I let the OS boot (ubuntu xenial), shutting it down from the menu/shutdown command causes it to turn back on
- if I suspend from the OS the same thing happens.
I went through all settings, disabled Wake On LAN|USB whatever, still the same. I've now upgraded the BIOS to RYBDWi35.86A.0359.2016.0906.1028, still the same.
I was disabling acpi wakeup sources through /proc/acpi/wakeup, didn't help.
There's no sign of the wakeup reason either in the dmesg log, nor in dmidecode. No sign in the BIOS event log.
I am stuck. I've already did a CMOS reset, basically everything I could think of.
It is driving me crazy, as I have to manually unplug the box after every boot, frustrating.
Anyone knows how this could be troubleshooted? Any other idea?
Thanks
Skylake i5 suddenly died
I bought a Skylake i5 in April of last year and had been using it regularly ever since. I had installed Ubuntu 16.04 on it and used it a portable desktop computer at work (a BYOD sort of place) and when I visited my parents.
This evening, I was using it at home and it suddenly powered down and would not power on again. I tested the 19v adapter with an electric meter, and that seemed fine. I had made sure to update the BIOS to the version that did not have the known problem for this sort of device (and then again to the one that supported NVM). It had worked without any significant difficulty until it suddenly failed this evening.
Happily, it was within warranty, and Amazon are collecting it on Tuesday for a warranty replacement. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It is very odd.
The only thing of which I can think is that the HDMI cable that I was using to connect it to the monitor had worked intermittently in the past, but there was no problem with the monitor signal this evening, and the monitor is still working fine when connected to my normal desktop. This sort of failure couldn't be caused by some sort of shorting in the HDMI cable, could it? Ought I to dispose of the HDMI cable as a precaution?
Boot wait time NUC6i5SYH
Hello,
My Config first:
NUC6i5SYH
2 * 8GB Kingston HyperX (KHX2133C13S4/8G)
M2.Sata Samsung SSD 950 512GB
Seagate 1TB Hybrid ST1000LM014
Windows 10 Pro build 1511
My questions:
- M2.Sata drive not recognized in BIOS (Works well though)
- Long wait time at boot app. 10-15 seconds wait on NUC logo and boot options screen. I like to speed this up. How to do this.
- What is the function of changing the minimum IGD memory size and maximux Aperture size. Tested it with 3Dmark but did not notice a difference.
- What is the best (SAFE) way to improve gaming performance (is this done in the bios)
Question two is the most annoying factor.
NUC6i7KYK shuts down sporadically
Intel BOXNUC6i7KYK1 with Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM
Everything installed and worked fine…but after about 5 minutes, the NUC6i7KYK turns off then re-starts. After it turns back on by itself, it asks to edit the BIOS. Answering NO, the system re-boots and is stable with no issues.
Same result with Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2133 SODIMM, part #CT2K16G4SFD8213, DDR4 PC4-17000 • CL=15 • Dual Ranked • x8 based • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR4-2133 • 1.2V • 2048Meg x 64
Same thing happens with DDR4-2133 memory, which is completely compliant with the NUC6i7KYK memory specification. The NUC6i7KYK shuts down after the first 5 minutes then restarts.
Please advise on how to get the Intel NUC6i7KYK to operate without the very annoying automatic restarts!
Thank you very much!

NUC 2820 - Fastboot appears to have no effect
G'day,
I have a NUC 2820 with latest (55) BIOS and UEFI boot selected, with Librelec installed on an SSD, connected via HDMI to my AV receiver.
Without Fastboot selected the NUC takes approx 15 seconds to post and then show the Librelec splash screen, and 25 seconds to fully boot to Kodi,
With Fastboot selected the time to splash screen and fully boot are the same, the only noticeable difference is that there is no Intel splash screen and no ability to enter BIOS with F2.
25 seconds is pretty good but I would like to reduce the boot time as much as possible and I'm not sure why the Fastboot seems to have no effect.
Cheers,
- Bear

D54250WYK no headless boot?
Hello
Is it somehow possible, or did someone successfully boot an INTEL NUC D54250WYK (I5-4250U in my case) without an monitor attached?
It seems not possible. It looks like the BIOS does not reach probing for bootable devices without an monitor attached. Can someone confirm this?
Using BIOS v. 0044 (14.12.2016)
NUC6i7KYK wake up with Intel remote keyboard app possible somehow?
Is it possible wo wake up a nuc6ikyk via the remote Keyboard app?
In the Internet there are some reports that it should be possible and some also did it, but I didn't...Any hints?
I use Win10 64bit Pro, latest version, all updates, lastest BIOS.
Thanks, Klaus.

How do you Load Windows 7 on a NUC5i5RYK with a Transcend SATA III M.2 MTS800 SSD ?
I have a new NUC5i5RYK (5th Gen i5-5250 Processor) bare bones unit. I installed 16 megs of Kingston RAM (8x2) and a Transcend 128 mg SATA III M.2 MTS800 SSD. Both the Ram and the SSD were compatible to this unit. Remarks by other people said they used these in this same machine. I have a Windows 7Pro Install disc that I used to put this on a Gigabyte unit that I'm replacing. It is also on a Thumb drive with USB Boot setup. I downloaded the new drivers and put on the same drive. So when I try to load it and hit F10 on start up I get the Boot screen that gives me three choices, Some EFI (efi shell version 2.40 [5.11]) thing, The SSD and the Thumb drive. When I try the SSD or the Thumb drive I get an error message to restart and plug in the data needed, basically, it didn't see the data on my drive, If I select the efi thing, it displays a screen with some kind of Shell info and then say to hit Esc w/i one minute to continue or hit any other key or something, but neither does anything. Intel's instructions are not clear to me. There is a note about special instructions if i'm loading 7 on a device with Only 3.0 USB ports, which this unit has, but when I go to that, the instructions say I have to do it on a computer running Windows 8.1 or higher and All of my computers are running 7 Pro.
So, can someone direct me to any specific instructions on what steps I need to do to load windows 7 Pro on this unit? I'm not a techie, but have moderate skills with this stuff, but surely can follow instructions. I just can't determine what the correct instruction are.
NUC6i7KYK (Skull Canyon) + LG UltraFine 4K display via Type-C connector
Hello,
Any chance anybody tested the Skull Canyon NUC with the LG UltraFine 4K display via the Thunderbolt Type-C connector (which support DisplayPort 1.2)?
If yes, does this connector would power the display or does the display require power from it's PSU?
Note: the display is not listed on the Tested Peripherals for Intel NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK page.
Thx

NUC muted after turn on receiver
Hi
My setup is as follows
NUC D54250WYKH1 running Windows 8.1 Pro with latest NUC drivers and windows update (I recently upgarded all the drives to see if that would solve the issue)
NUC is connected to Onkyo TX-NR525 on the PC (HDMI) input, The HDMI output goes to Vizio E601i-A3 TV.
The NUC is always on. Using the Harmony 650 remote, to watch TV, I turn on the receiver followed by the TV. Sometimes NUC is muted and I have to unmute it for the sound to come through.
Any solution to this problem?
Thanks

Thunderbolt device not recognized through USB-C port
I am using a Nuc6i7kyk with Windows 10.
I have a Motu 828x audio interface that runs through Thunderbolt. The cable I am using is a Thunderbolt 2 cable and I have a Startech Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter to plug into the USB-C connection. Motu have tested a Startech adapter with the 828x and it works. They advised that I should be able to just plug it in and it should work.
I have updated the drivers for the NUC and made sure I have installed the latest Thunderbolt software but the audio interface is not being recognized.
Any help would be appreciated.
NUC5CPY was running ok until I upgraded my memory
I have a NUC5CPY running Ubuntu LTS 16.04. Originally I had installed a 2GB Kingston SODIMM and after updating the BIOS to v60 all seemed well.
I then changed the memory to an 8GB SODIMM also from Kingston, 1.35V PC3L 1333 MHz CL9 (Part No KVR13LSE9/8) which should be to spec.
When I now try and boot I don't even get as far as the BIOS screen - just black. The power LED is on solid - no flashing to indicate a memory fault.
If I revert to the 2GB it all works again.
So, do I need to do something to reset the BIOS? or is there something else I'm missing.
Thanks
Mike
