Re: Intel Ethernet Connection I219-V disconnect

Ditto with a Skull Canyon running Ubuntu 17.04. Suddenly after weeks in my "data center" - it started "killing the switch" it was connected to. Other machines in the same switch would produce ethernet errors and all communication would freeze. It took me a while to figure out that disconnecting the NUC from the GB switch (tried two brands) was the only thing that restored normal operation. Plug the NUC back in and after < 1 minute all communication on the switch stops.

I saw the note on VTx - will check if that is on in the BIOS.

NUC7i5BNH - fresh windows 10 creator install, video driver crashes OS

Fresh install of Windows 10 Creator edition.  Works great without video driver.

When I install this video driver:

Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.45]

towards the end of the install, screen freaks out, small colored vertical lines everywhere, then screen starts rotating through solid red, green, blue, and other test patterns.

After reboot, initial Windows icon shows then same thing.  Driver freaks out.

Update to latest BIOS.  Tried an earlier driver after restoring to a checkpoint.  Same result.

Seems totally broken to me.

Anyone else with this issue?

Thanks,
Aaron

BIOS Recovery by the Security Jumper

I wanted to downgrade the bios version from 46 to 36 had no success but reading the manual I found the note:

Note:

BIOS recovery using the BIOS security jumper will clear Trusted Platform Module (TPM) keys, Intel®PlatformTrust Technology (Intel®PTT) keys, and High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) keys. These keys will not be restored after the BIOS recovery.

So now I erased those keys. Am I in trouble? How do I get those keys back? Will I be able to play hdcp 2.2 content now? How to fix that? How important are those keys?

Thanks for advice.

Intel graphics option resolution not displaying correctly on TV.

I am currently using 2 NUC5i3MYHE  for my digital signage solution, one is attached to an LG 55LW340C and the other to a LG SUPERSIGN 55LW540S.

When I adjust the scaling and resolution in the control panel both Windows and in Intel Graphics options it will not change the settings. In other words, the application am running looks stretched out and is not aligned inside the aspect ratio which is set at 16:9 on the TV. They have different modes for aspect ratio, one which is called Just scan fits allows the whole presentation to fit inside the screen, and then after 5 minutes it reverts back to 16:9. I tried the master settings by holding down the settings button and pressing 1105 to program the resolution not change. Unfortunately that did not work for me.

Could you recommend a TV that has on overscan option preferably a 55", or that is compatible with the intel NUC?

Are there other settings I can try to see whether the resolution can fit into the screen?

NUC717BNH - Random USB Disconnect (?) Sounds

$

Maybe you guys can help me figure this one out... because I am stumped.

Before buying the NUC, i was using a self-built machine. Suddenly random USB disconnect sounds started occurring (sometimes 3 in a row, other times not for several hours) - I disabled all system sounds and it still continued, even though I didn't notice any USB hardware blips).

I installed the NUC and the issue suddenly started all over again. Here's what I have done:

(1) updated all drivers with Intel Driver Update Utility

(2) swapped out a wired keyboard

(3) bought a new mouse

(4) replaced a wired USB hub with a newer model ( thought this was the solution - no sounds for 2 days, then suddenly 4 times today).

(5) disabled all energy saving options in Win 10 power settings

Here's what I have plugged into the USB slots of the NUC:

in the back: (1) the new wired hub (2) an AudioQuest - DragonFly Red USB DAC

in the front: (1) an external hard drive

in the hub: (1) wired keyboard (2) wired mouse (3) connecting wire from battery backup and surge protector (this is also new)

Is there anything I'm missing? *Please* help as this has been very frustrating. Thanks!

Edit: Oh, and all the windows system sounds are disabled.

Linux HDMI 5.1 audio not working

I'm running a skull canyon NUC with Ubuntu 16.04 connected via HDMI 2.0 to a Samsung TV.

I recently setup 5.1 speakers on the TV, it was working fine with a 2.0 setup but the extra speakers and sub don't seem to work at all. The speakers themselves are working with the TV and other devices just not the the NUC.

I've tried using https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads/intel-graphics-update-tool-linux-os-v2.0.4 to update tool to see if that fixes the issue but no joy so far.

I found this post with a firmware update that you can only run on windows to resolve this issue... is there any way with linux to get the same fixes? NUC6I7KYK (Skull Canyon NUC): No 5.1 over HDMI

How to disable C states and P states in bios for NUC5i7RYB

I have the Intel Visual BIOS version RYBDWi35.86A.0246.2015.0309.1355, and I need to disable all frequency scaling and C states and P states for a certain application. There isn't such an option in this BIOS as far as I can tell.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

hdmi 2.0,(2.0a or maybe hdmi 2.1?) USB-C/DP/TB3 hdcp2.2 HDR support?

$

hdmi 2.0,(2.0a or maybe hdmi 2.1?) USB-C/DP/TB3 hdcp2.2  HDR support?

When will intel come with drivers that gives hdr support on windows 10??

Would this only be on DP or/else TB3 on usb-c connector, or on hdmi too with lspcon chip added to hdmi 2.0 connector ?

datasheet says only hdmi 2.0a do have hdr support with hdcp2.2 and DP with New Integrated for HDCP2.2...

in specification for NUC7ixBN  there says nothing about what versions of hdcp that are integrated on these intel NUC's

Would be of good to know what is doable on NUC7th gen i3,i5 and i7 versions, before we decide to buy... and at last know what connectors that would give us users what we want to have/get by the purchase of these products. (about HDR support)

question -> HDR support on hdmi 2.0 connector with currect driver or future drivers ?

HDR support on USB-C connector  DP on i3,i5,i7  or TB3 on only i5 and i7 currect driver or future drivers?

Centos 7 on NUC6CAYH

$

I just posted this question over at unix.stackexchange.com and thought I'd bring it to the attention of this community for input here or to benefit from any responses that may be contributed by the stackexchange users.

==== snip ====

I have a working Centos7 system on a NUC5CPYH. To get the drivers for video and wireless that aren't in the Centos 3.10 kernel, we're using a 4.10.9 kernel. Since the NUC5CPYH is coming up on end of life, I'm trying to migrate to the NUC6CAYH.

Our system plays video in Chrome. On the NUC5CPYH, everything runs fine. On the NUC6CAYH I'm seeing high CPU on gnome-shell which I found (atop "y" command) to have 4 threads of `llvmpipe-[0-3]` attached to gnome-shell's PID -- so we're using CPU (not GPU) rendering.

On the NUC6CAYH, glxinfo errors with message  `i965_dri.so does not support the 0x5a85 PCI ID` which looks to be a Mesa error message from `src/mesa/drivers/dri/i965/brw_device_info.c` Looking at `include/pci_ids/i965_pci_ids.h` the 5a85 PCI ID is not in the 11.2 (Centos 7 includes mesa 11.2.2-2.20160614.el7)  tree but is in the 12.0 and later.

It appears that we need a new version of Mesa. So the question is how do I do that?

- Is this analysis correct?

- Is there a better way to solve this problem?

- Intel has a nice "[recipe][1]" for a video stack, but it looks to be a daunting task to implement.

- Is there a packaged path for Centos 7 to get to Mesa 12+.

- Could this be as "simple" as building Mesa from source? I tried to build 12.0.6 and ran into a series of errors so it doesn't look so simple...

nuc7i5BNH dual 4k display using USB-C

Hi,

according to:

Setting Up Multiple Displays for the Intel® NUC

the nuc7i5BNH can drive two 4k DisplayPort displays over USB-C.

At least, this is how I understand it.

Does anyone have experience with such a setup? And what docking

station did you use to connect the two displays using  DisplayPort?

Thanks for any help,

Marcus

Since my TV has its ARC at HDMI-2, I am struggling with the problem that CEC does ALWAYS switch the TV to HDMI-1 (where nothing is connected). Can someone tell me what goes wrong? Using a DVD-Player at the same port it works! Is there some config? Or alternativly a way to disable that feature?

What triple display configurations are supported on NUC7i5 and NUC7i7?

$
0
0

I've been trying to get a good picture on what triple-display configurations are possible on my NUC7i7 and what dongles/converters will work. However, the documentation is inconclusive. Can somebody from Intel clear this up?

According to this page:

Setting Up Multiple Displays for the Intel® NUC

The supported configuration is:

DisplayIntel NUC PortTV/Monitor PortMax Resolution
1HDMIHDMI or DVI4096x2160 at 60 Hz
2DisplayPort via USB Type-CUSB Type C, HDMI, or DisplayPort4096x2304 at 60 Hz
3DisplayPort via USB Type-CUSB Type C, HDMI, or DisplayPort4096x2304 at 60 Hz

The DP output on the NUC7i7, according to the specifications on http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/NUC7i5BN_NUC7i7BN_TechProdSpec.pdf , is a Displayport 1.2 (Page 26: "DisplayPort via USB Type-C connector is compliant with the DisplayPort 1.2 specification.". That provides a maximum bandwidth of 21.6 Gbps.

A single 4096x2304@60Hz display takes up 17Gbps of bandwidth. Driving two monitors at that resolution through a single displayport would require not DP 1.2, but DP 1.3 (max bandwidth 34Gbps). I could not find any DP MST hub out there that would support anything over 21.6Gbps according to the specs. So my question to Intel is: what converter would I need for the above supported configuration to work?

My guess is that the above is impossible through DP 1.2 alternate mode. However, that page does not mention Thunderbolt.  With 40Gbps of bandwidth, driving two UHD displays at 60Hz should be possible.

But.. For the NUC6 Intel created a page on Thunderbolt compatibility, and on that page they clearly state that a single display is the maximum: Thunderbolt™ 3/USB Type C Information: "Single 4K (Ultra HD) or 1080p video support " For the NUC7 series, no such compatibility page on Thunderbolt exists.

However, when I look at the list of tested peripherals for the NUC7 series (Tested Peripherals for Intel® NUC Kits NUC7i[x]BN ), the following items are in the list:

Thunderbolt™/USB Type-C Devices (Thunderbolt only supported on i5/i7 models)
PlugableThunderbolt 3 dual DisplayPort adapterTBT3-DP2X
PlugableThunderbolt 3 dual HDMI adapterTBT3-HDMI2X

According to the manufacturer, the TBT3-DP2X supports two UHD displays at 60Hz (see Plugable Thunderbolt™ 3 Dual DisplayPort Adapter for Windows | Plugable ). As does the similar Startech TB32DP2 dongle. However, I can't get it to drive two displays (QHD + FHD, theoretically using just 12.75Gbps of bandwidth, but I can only drive one at a time).

I have now bought over EUR 200 of converters on top of the NUC7i7 just to get my triple-display configuration working and I'm still not there, having to revert to an old Displaylink USB -> DVI device and using just a single display on the USB-C/DP/TB port (with a flicker problem, but there is another topic on that).

WHEA CODE 19 - Intel NUC7i5 BNH WIN10

Dear Community,

a couple of days ago i got my new NUC7i5 BNH.

I use Windows 10, a Samsung SSD m.2 228ß SM961 PCIe and Kingston HyperX Impact SO-DDR4 2133 MHZ 16 GB (2x8GB).

I Installed Windows and i experienced sudden restarts with no warning.

I went through the internet and reconfigured the restart- condition.

So the next time i got a blue screen with the request to restart windows due to an unknown critical error and the possibility to use data (with a notice to whea uncorrectable error).

So I took a look into the eventlog (Ereignisprotokoll).

There i found some events with the WHEA CODE 19.

Here is one of those errors:

Liebe Community,

ich habe seit wenigen Tagen den neuen Intel NUC7i5BNH mit Win10.

Windows 10, a Samsung SSD m.2 228ß SM961 PCIe and Kingston HyperX Impact SO-DDR4 2133 MHZ 16 GB (2x8GB)

errore driver usb storage 3.0

Skull Canyon NUC Random Reboots

Hi all,

I've read some past forum posts about this and was wondering if anyone has any other advice. My NUC6i7KYK reboots randomly, sometimes just a few minutes after booting. Other times it is rock stable and never crashes. I have used this machine for months without this problem happening at all, and suddenly it's happening about every day. The strange thing is, it reboots when I'm doing pretty low load tasks like browsing web pages. I was playing Cities skylines at 4K, the machine was blazing hot and fans spinning super fast and it was stable. So it doesn't seem like a heat or load issue.

Specs are: 32gb Patriot 2133 CL14 (2x16gb sodimms), Samsung 950 PRO M.2, steelseries keyboard and mouse plugged into a Startech USB hub which is plugged into the NUC. Using WiFi but no BT at time of reboots. I have an eGPU but started experiencing this issue before I had it. The eGPU was not on at the time of the reboot. Nothing in the NUC is overclocked.

There are no blue screens, nothing in my error logs. When the NUC reboots it goes to an unsuccessful POST message.

This seems to have started since the Creators update of Win 10 but not sure if that's just a coincidence.

To date, my troubleshooting steps have been: update to latest BIOS, reset BIOS to defaults, remove and reseat RAM, try different RAM, reformatted and reinstalled Windows. Nothing has helped.

EDIT: Additionally, I had 2 strange occurrences during reboots. Once after the unsuccessful POST message, it booted to what appeared to be a Windows recovery screen but it was just a blank blue background. The very strange this is that when I typed anything on my keyboard, the screen would flicker. Another time after the unsuccessful POST, it rebooted to a recovery screen asking for my BitLocker key. I put it in but then it said my Windows installation was damaged and it couldn't boot. I just power cycled the NUC and it booted fine.

Is exchanging the NUC the only thing I can do at this point? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike
