INTEL NUCi7 3D MVC ISSUE

$

Coming from Intel NUC DN2820 I was able to play 3D MVC with Kodi with new Intel Media SDK, I just purchased Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK and 3D playback doesn't work.

On the Intel NUC DN2820, the resolution was set 1920X1080p 3D and everything works great

On the Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK either I set the 1920X1080p 3D or  3820X2160p 3D doesn't work

The Intel Media SDK was supposed to allow 3D MVC to work, I did some testing and found the HDMI 2.0 connection is the one causing the issue and any NUC with HDMI 2.0 doesn't work/

Frequent Video Crashes NUC7i7

Hi,

I have a new NUC7i7 and it is connected to a HDMI 2.0 display.

I get frequent random video blackouts which last a few seconds before the video comes back.

I also get the issue where the monitor goes to sleep and will not wake.

As mentioned in another post, I have successfully updated the firmware, but the issue remains.

I have purchased a short HDMI 2 High speed cable.  And tried a few different cables.

I hope there is a fix for this as it isn't usable in its current state.

I have a 128GB M2 SSD, 1TB 2.5" Drive and 1x 8GB DDR4 2133 RAM.

NUC6CAYH losing ethernet connection in headless mode

$

Hi,

I know about this other thread about the same problem: NUC6CAYH losing ethernet connection but I thought I could share my own research about the problem.

I have installed BIOS 0038 and Ubuntu Server 17.04 on my NUC6CAYH. I also have reserved the IP address for it in my local network based on its MAC address. This exact setup works for my other local server which is an old Mini ITX Intel board with Atom processor.

The LAN card complete disappearing can be reproduced like this:

1. Set `Wake on Power Loss` in the Power options tab in the BIOS

2. Save the BIOS and wait for it to restart and boot up, after that hold the Power button for 5 seconds

3. The NUC briefly powers off and then it starts again, this time with missing LAN card - even the small LEDs at the back of the LAN card are turned off

4. Even unplugging the cable wasn't working for me, so under `Onboard devices` I disable/enable (depending on the previous state) all other devices except the LAN card

5. After Save in the BIOS, the NUC restarts itself and the LAN card is back online

So at that point I decided to not use the `Wake on Power Loss` option, but then I stumbled upon the `no attached monitor` issue:

If I have a monitor plugged in the HDMI port the NUC boots up and its accessible through the LAN card. The monitor itself is being used on another input source because I'm accessing the NUC through SSH. I left the NUC running for 3 days and I was issuing a `ping` command from time to time just to see if it is still online. This test passed without an issue.

Next I tried several times running the NUC without a monitor. I unplugged the monitor and restarted the NUC just to get it a clean start for the test. The NUC successfully boots up and I'm able to access it through SSH and test it with the `ping` command.

However after several hours (can't tell exactly how) the NUC become unreachable. At this point I can't tell exactly what is going on because the NUC looks like it's working and the LAN card's LED are on, and the one even blinks from time to time. If I plug the HDMI cable back in the monitor won't detect the input signal until I restart the NUC, so I can't tell what the state of the NUC is.

Intel graphics option resolution not displaying correctly on TV.

I am currently using 2 NUC5i3MYHE  for my digital signage solution, one is attached to an LG 55LW340C and the other to a LG SUPERSIGN 55LW540S.

When I adjust the scaling and resolution in the control panel both Windows and in Intel Graphics options it will not change the settings. In other words, the application am running looks stretched out and is not aligned inside the aspect ratio which is set at 16:9 on the TV. They have different modes for aspect ratio, one which is called Just scan fits allows the whole presentation to fit inside the screen, and then after 5 minutes it reverts back to 16:9. I tried the master settings by holding down the settings button and pressing 1105 to program the resolution not change. Unfortunately that did not work for me.

Could you recommend a TV that has on overscan option preferably a 55", or that is compatible with the intel NUC?

Are there other settings I can try to see whether the resolution can fit into the screen?

hi all,

first of all i want to apologize for any grammer mistakes.

so i bought  the nuc I3 (7I3BNK)

and i am using it as an HTPC,so the nuc is connacted to the tv via HDMI cable,

the thing that i dont get is that, when the i am listting to music lets say from youtube, from time to time the screen will lose signle, and the audio wil revert to

a second output device which is a 2.1 surround set.

and if i move the mouse (waking up the nuc) the signal returns and the sound return to the TV its like some thing is going to sleep, but since i mention that the sound revert to the sround set when the tv lose signal i dont think its sleeping

i dont understand why this thing happening, when i watch movies this think never happens.

tnx u all.

Why does my NUC Skull freezes often suddenly?

Why does my NUC SKull freeze so often suddenly after a few months?

I have to press the start/ restart button on my machine to reboot the system.

Then it works but after a few minute doing stuff, eg. browsing internet, working on a software, etc it freezes again - everything, keys and mouse and all, stops working!

It freezes when one of the CPU is reaching 100%. See my attachment below:

IMG_20170427_004135_HDR.jpg

It never happened before.

Any ideas what might be causing this? Is the machine breaking down? Or am I being hacked by viruses that eating my CPUs? Is it a hardware issue or a software issue actually?

I am using Skull Canyon solely on Ubuntu 16.10 - Kubuntu Plasma 5.8. I have 16GB RAM. If it is a software issue, should I re-format my system?

NUC7i5BNH with Kingston 8GB SO-DIMM RAM stick - detected as 4GB

I have a new NUC7i5BNH unit, with BIOS updated to latest revision 46.

I mounted a Kingston 8GB SO-DIMM RAM stick (the retail box says 8GB PC4-2133 CL15 260-Pin SODIMM; KVR21S15D8/8) and the unit displays it as 4GB. I see this information in BIOS (as attached), Windows 10 Pro x64 installed on the unit reports the same.

Things did not change when I opened the box and re-inserted the stick into the other socket - same 4GB. I read another earlier question with advice to attempt to insert the RAM module once again more accurately, and I can't think of my two insertions in a row in different sockets both resulted in the same symptom.

The unit otherwise works fine.

Is there any chance to get this working as 8GB, is it behavior by design in first place or a sort of hardware incompatibility.

Thanks.

Nuc6i7kyk Won't boot with #2 RAM slot used

Hi Everyone,

I'm having some trouble with my Skull Canyon  - if there is any ram installed in the #2 ram slot it won't boot. No boot screen and zero output to monitor. Its possible that it is booting and I'm not getting output to my monitor, however, I've tried letting it sit for a while and forcing a restart and nothing happened. Not sure how else I can test.

I have tried every combination of ram in either slot, and the only configuration that will work is one stick (either one) in slot #1. Both sticks in slot #2 only will not work, and either combination of sticks in both slots will not work.

The power LED lights up (solid), and the fan runs, but I get no signal out to my monitor. I've also tried holding the power butting for 3 seconds to get into the Power Button menu, but It didn't work. I've tried clearing my CMOS and updating the bios to the latest. No dice.

Before I had this issue with slot #2, I had a series of BSODs. BSODs would happen often, even under no load, eventually as regular as a few minutes after booting into windows completely idle.

Ram: 2x G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Laptop Memory Model F4-2133C15S-8GRS

HD: Crucial MX300 M.2 2280 275GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT275MX300SSD4

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

NUC boot issues

When i start my computer, it fails to boot Windows and instead I get a

"PXE-E61: Media test Failure, check Cable. PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent" .

I tried accessing BIOS setup and restoring Default settings; didn't work. In BIOS setup, inside the "Boot Order" window I noticed that under "UEFI Boot" it said "No Boot Drive" and under "Legacy Boot" it said "LAN: IBA CL Slot 00FE v0104.

My guess was there was a problem with the SSD.

I clicked Advanced>Devices>PCI and i noticed that BOTH M.2 Slots read "Not Populated".

I opened up my NUC and changed the SSD from one slot to the other (in case there was a problem with the pins). After booting, windows opened fine for a bit before it crashed again and the NUC started giving me the exact same error messages. Now, most of the time the NUC would refuse to boot ( same error message) and every once in a while it would boot windows before crashing when I try to watch a video on youtube or something similar. My guess is I have a faulty SSD and I am trying to verify with you guys if my guess is true. I have a Samsung 950PRO 256GB and a Crucial 8GBx2 Memory. I have had this system running for about 4 months now with no problems. In that period I havent altered it or even opened up my NUC. Its a Skull Canyon btw

And isn't it strange that a Samsung SSD would breakdown after 4 months?? these things should last forever

IR receiver not working on NUC7i3BNK after startup

$

I have two NUC7i3BNK that both have the same issue of the ITECIR Infrared Receiver not being detected after startup. It seems to only happen when the units are started by turning on their HDMI monitor or by pressing the power button on a RC6 IR remote. If I press the power button on the unit to turn it on or select restart in windows the ITECIR Infrared Receiver shows up in device manager and a IR remote works normally. When the IR decides not to work, scanning for new devices in device manager makes no difference and the ITECIR Infrared Receiver does not show up under HID. Both units are running windows 10 and didn't have the issue when initially installed.

Skull Canyon NUC6i7KYK - Resolution stuck at 1080p - LG E6 OLED

Hi,

I have a few months ago bought a new NUC6i7KYK and connected it using HDMI to my new receiver

Denon AVR-X2300W: https://www.denon.co.uk/uk/product/homecinema/avreceiver/avrx2300w

I have also a PS4 Pro + Nintendo Switch connected to the receiver and from time to time i use remote desktop to connect to my NUC from another PC that uses 2k resolution.

Now the problem i'm facing is this. I was just now playing on my Switch which uses 1080p resolution. When i go back to the NUC windows is stuch at 1080p and i'm not able to change the resolution. The resolution setting windows goes only up to 1080p.

The only way to fix the problem is to reboot the NUC. Then it works as normal and goes back to 4k resolution by default.

I have a LG 55nch OLED E6: LG OLED55E6P: E6 OLED 4K Smart TV w/ webOS 3.0  | LG USA

This does not happen everytime and i cant re-produce it when i want. Its random, sometimes it happens when i have shut down the tv and the next day when i start my TV and want to watch a movie on my NUC. Not exactly sure what causes this but it happens very often, like every second/third day. I do use all my devices frequently so and switch between game, netflix, watching movie, remote desktop etc.

Does anyone have any clue why this happens?

My NUC is running windows 10 pro with all the latest drivers and windows update. I dont have particularly much programs installed either.

Hope someone can help me. I bouht this NUC for my media center but it just gives me allot of headache

NUC7i7BNH Not Powering On - Orange Power Button

Hi,

Just yesterday I updated all the drivers, BIOS, and firmware for my new Intel NUC7i7BNH. I unplugged it and moved it to it's permanent location.

Now, when I put the power cord in the back of the device, the power button lights up in orange. When I press the button, the light turns blue and the display LED stays lit in blue, no flashing.

The device does not boot, no graphics are out put to HDMI. The fan comes on and blows a little.

What is wrong? Should I return the device?

Thanks.

NUC6i5SYH no IR

I've set up the system with windows 10 x64 enterprise and can't get the on board IR to work. I've installed the downloaded drivers from the Intel site, tried the drivers supplied by the driver upgrade tool, enabled the generic and x-box ir control in the bios, updated the bios. i've tested it with a WMC remote and an ir remote on my phone. if i use an external usb ir receiver it works and i can verify it is getting the ir codes. nothing looks odd in device manager or the driver files. If i get the onboard IR working i'd like to get wake from off and wake from sleep working with it.

While looking online i can't find any reports where someone has the onboard IR working. Can anyone verify that the IR with the intel drivers does work or any suggestions on what to try?

Flickering on NUC7i5BNH

I have an NUC7i5BNH that seems to experience random flickering on an lg tv. Sometimes it happens every minute or so, sometimes constantly and the tv starts saying it can't read the signal. The sound cuts off at the same time as the flicker. I have tried a different hdmi cable on a different tv port. Turning the tv off and on again doesn't seem to help. Turning the unit off and on again doesn't always stop it, and if it does, it seems like it is back again the next day. The flickering happens in the bios menu as well as well as in the ubuntu 17.04 OS. I updated the bios to 0042, but it still happens. I have the display set to 4k 60hz. Is there a way to fix this or is the unit defective?

NUC7i5BNH - fresh windows 10 creator install, video driver crashes OS

Fresh install of Windows 10 Creator edition.  Works great without video driver.

When I install this video driver:

Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.45]

towards the end of the install, screen freaks out, small colored vertical lines everywhere, then screen starts rotating through solid red, green, blue, and other test patterns.

After reboot, initial Windows icon shows then same thing.  Driver freaks out.

Update to latest BIOS.  Tried an earlier driver after restoring to a checkpoint.  Same result.

Seems totally broken to me.

Anyone else with this issue?

Thanks,
Aaron

Skull Canyon without Thunderbolt Controller

$

I have an Intel NUC 6i7KYK Skull Canyon. It should have Thunderbolt 3.

I noticed Thunderbolt software/drivers did not exist on my Windows 10 installation, so I installed the TBT_Win7_8.1_10_64_16.2.55.275 drivers. That was nice, but it didn't help fully.

As you can see, the controller information is not there. This is disappointing since I was going to buy an eGPU and video card today.

I attempted to upgrade the firmware with Thunderbolt-3-Firmware-Update-Tool-Version25. This wasn't working because of a version mismatch, so I used Version 18 to open the tool, then used the Intel_NUC_AR_HR_2C_B1_rev25_W_TI_1_7_0_SEC1_sign.bin file to flash. The flash seemed to work, and then I could see the controller information in the lower part of the Details window.

After restarting my computer, I have not been able to see any details about the Thunderbolt controller. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Thunderbolt Bus Driver, though that hasn't helped. I've used Intel Driver Update Utility to scan my system, though when I attempt to install the TBT driver, the message is, "failed".

How do I get my NUC with Windows 10 Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.332) to recognize the Thunderbolt controller?

Problems with SSD and m.2 drives

Hi

Firstable, sorry about my bad english

I have the NUC 6i3SYH.

First i have mounted a SSD SATA Drive (Kinsgton V300), with Windows 10 and it worked well. After that, I bougth a SSD m.2 Intel 600p 128 Gb, and when i run Windows 10, with both drives mounted, Windows fail. It seems like freeze and i have to reset the NUC. In this case, Windows is installed in m.2 Intel 600p drive.

If I dissassembly the SSD SATA unit, the m.2 with Windows, works well. The issue is that I cant use the NUC with both drives installed.  Now I´m using only m.2 drive with the Kinsgton SATA drive dissassembly.

NUC7i7 periodic screen blackout/flicker through DP1.2 (via USB-C)

I bought a NUC 7i7 a couple of days ago.

It is hooked up to three displays.

  - Display 1: DP via Club3D USB-C->DP adapter (3440x1440@60HZ)

  - Display 2: HDMI (1920x1080@60Hz)

  - Display 3: HDMI via Displaylink USB-HDMI converter (1920x1080@60Hz).

The system is running Win 10 pro with 16GB of memory (single 16GB SODIMM, Kingston DDR4@2133Mhz CL15) and 250GB of storage (Samsung 850 Evo M2)

The problem is that display #1 occasionally "flickers" - e.g. turns black for about a second and then returns. While this happens, audio that is output to the monitor over the DP signal is also interrupted. The frequency of this happing is quite low, about two to four times in an 8 hour working day.

The other two displays are stable.

I have investigated the issue and performed the following steps:

  - Driven the monitor through DP 1.2 from another device. This is 100% stable, no hickups for an entire working day.

  - Removed the Displaylink device and drivers. No change, same issue

  - Swapped out the Club 3D USB-C to DP adapter for an expensive Startech Thunderbolt 3 to dual DP adapter. No change, same issue

Unfortunately, I am unable to swap the DP and HDMI displays as only one of three monitors has a DP input. The others are just HDMI and I do not have an active DP -> HDMI converter or USB-C -> HDMI converter.

When searching for this issue online, I came across another post on this forum describing exactly the same problem on the previous generation of NUC's.

NUC6i7KYK Dual Display Port display issues - black flickering

Is there a solution for this issue?
