Hello,

I have a NUC NUC5i5RYB with firmware version RYBDWi35.86A.0354.2016.0120.0912 (Release Date: 01/20/2016, BIOS Revision: 5.6) running Gentoo Linux. The NUC boots up fine and the display comes up. However, after running for a few minutes the screen starts to flicker and it then blanks out the screen.

I have Intel 5TH NUC ( nuc5i3ryh ) + (nuc5i5ryh)

Both are already upgrade to Latest BIOS. [RYBDWi35.86A]

1.

I planned to upgrade to M.2 SATA SSD - Sandisk X110 SD6SP1M-64G which is from my laptop.

Sandisk X110 SD6SP1M-64G  can be detected on 5th NUC visual BIOS ....  but not on Windows 10 installation process.   It can not detect anything.

2.

I change to M.2 NVMe SSD - SAMSUNG PM961 - 128G which is from my laptop

Everything is OK with SAMSUNG PM961 and 5TH NUC.

completed - Windows 10 Installation

But I can see a signification BUG with  SAMSUNG PM961 and 5TH NUC.

Windows 10 --> Shutdown --> Power on --> Visual BIOS Screen --> Boot to Windows 10 ---> It's OK

Windows 10 --> Restart --> Visual BIOS --> Boot to Windows 10 (FAIL !!!) --> Windows 10 EMS Repair Mode .................Power OFF --> Power ON --> Visual BIOS --> Boot to Windows 10 (OK!!!)  ...... Everytime

It's seem to be a Bug with Visual BIOS and SAMSUNG PM961 SSD ....

Is there any advice ?

Thanks

INTEL NUCi7 3D MVC ISSUE

Coming from Intel NUC DN2820 I was able to play 3D MVC with Kodi with new Intel Media SDK, I just purchased Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK and 3D playback doesn't work.

On the Intel NUC DN2820, the resolution was set 1920X1080p 3D and everything works great

On the Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK either I set the 1920X1080p 3D or  3820X2160p 3D doesn't work

The Intel Media SDK was supposed to allow 3D MVC to work, I did some testing and found the HDMI 2.0 connection is the one causing the issue and any NUC with HDMI 2.0 doesn't work/

NUC Skull Slow WiFi Download Speeds

The internet speeds to my house are 50 Mbps down/up. I'm getting only around 25-30 Mbps down to my NUC Skull. The upload speeds are in the high 40s as expected. (This is all via WiFi.)

Any ideas what would cause the slower download speeds?

I saw another thread with a similar issue. I've followed some trouble shooting steps advised there:

NUC Kit selection suggestion for server programming

Hi,

Am planning to use Intel NUC Kits for server programming with Virtualization/Containers.

Here are my requirements :

  • NUC Kit (1 or 2)
  • i5/i7 Processor should support virtualization (vt-d or vt-x), good enough for a mini-data center(not so pricey)
  • 32GB RAM
  • 500GB SSD
  • Ubuntu latest stable release , for linux distro install
  • Windows install - dualboot , if possible
  • 2 network ports
  • containers(docker) to be used
  • Virtualization / Virtual machines
  • Container orchestration (Kubernetes) to be used
  • Out of the Box Kits are welcome, instead of custom build
  • Personal use, server and virtualization programming

Optionally, will add more kits of same spec, once the first NUC kit is successful.

Please throw in your suggestions, Thanks!

NUC 5i7RYH

Kingston G4 8GB USB created by Standard Ubuntu USB-utility with Ubuntu 17.04

The USB is found by BIOS but it won't boot from it.

I have tested several BIOS settings and updated BIOS Firmware too.

Any ideas?

How do I get Windows 7 installed on a NUC7I5BNH?

$

The NUC only has USB 2 ports and Windows 7 has no USB drivers.

I have been through the "make a USB install images and patch it with drivers" process.

I can get past the Language prompt, but later it reboots, asks for my computer account and the USB 3 drivers that were part of the install image are not part of the Windows 7 install and once again the keyboard and mouse fail.

we need a solution to this.

How do I open a support case?

Cannot access Bios on NUC55ppyh

I have  NUC 55ppyh.  I cannot access the bios.

The bios is set to legacy mode, but no F2 is seen on the screen at boot , you cannot go into windows and say let me access the bios on next reboot because windows is installed in none uefi mode.

The bios reset by removing the jumper  and placing the bio file on usb key. This does not load, the key does not even flash( tried format in fat32 and ntfs and tried usb 2 and usb 3 keys), you can hear the fan run for 2 seconds and stops and keeps doing that but never loads a file.

If you put the jumper on 1 &2  nothing happens does not show any screen or boot.

Place jumper on 2 & 3 and the machine boots up into windows in legacy bios mode and runs fine but cannont get to bios.

I have tried to use widows bios update and its say it works , but must not default the bios to defaults so still cannot get in.

Tried boot windows 10 recovery key and that does not see uefi so cannot access it either.

The power button menu as never been seen either.....

I have been trying for 2 weeks now and i am about to put the unit in the bin   HELP  Please its doing me head in !

Forgot to say i have tried VGA monitors and hdmi monitors.

Hi

No issue with DTS_MA (96/24) and with other encoded HD format but sound in case of PCM from and above 88.2/24 is broken more and more as quality is higher and higher.

It is same problem with Direct Sound and WASAPI, with foobar2k and Jriver and Kodi.

I tried latest three Intel Audio Drivers but problem is same.

win64_154518.4664.exe

GFX_WIN10_64_15.46.5.4771_BN.zip

GFX_WIN10_64_win64_154702.4815.zip

DAC is Pioneer Receiver SC-LX 59 which is working fine from other sources via HDMI too.

How do I improve Skull Canyon full screen video?

I just got my second Skull Canyon NUC, and I've been using it to run a 4k and two 2k screens 24/7 with video feeds. I've noticed some freezing on certain sites thou, and very high CPU usage, so I was wondering if there was a way to smooth this out? The machine does nothing else really, but I may put some VM's on it down the road.

Best way to connect hi res display?

Hi,

what's the best way to connect a display (QHD or 4K) to my NUC7i5BNK? HDMI/HDMI, HDMI/Displayport (with adapter), Thunderbolt/HDMI or Thunderbolt/Displayport?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Stefano

My NUC5i7RYH goes blank for no reason and then does not power on

$

I've been using this Intel NUC for 2 years without any issues. This issue started 3 days ago.

The display suddenly goes blank. My monitor complains that there is no HDMI cable connected. The NUC's blue power button continues to stay on - I can hear the fan. The unit does not seem to be overheating. I cannot shut it down (by pressing the power button for a few seconds). I have to switch the power off manually. Once done, the NUC unit does not power back on for a few hours (over night).

Initially, I thought it was an issue with the memory, so I purchased a new one. However, I still have this issue after installing the new memory.

Few things off the top of my head.

1. The issue does not seem to be based on what application was being run when it happens.

2. The issue seems to happen after the computer is on for 8 to 10 hours. (It has always happened at night time)

3. After this happens, I am unable to restart the unit for quite a few hours. (It has always started up the next morning)

I've attached my system information based on the SSU.exe utility.  I'm happy to provide any other information if needed.

Thanks for your help.

NUC7i7BNH freezing und workload / not with Hyperthreading off

$

Hi Intel-Team,

we have bought around 80x Intel NUC7i7BNH for our company, all with the same configuration and all with the same customized basic-installation of windows 10 Professional.

- Intel NUC7i7BNH

- 256GB m.2 SATA-SSD Samsung MZNLN256HMHQ PM871a

- 1x 16GB DDR4-2133 RAM Samsung M471A2K43BB1-CPB

- BIOS-Version 0052

We have problems with several freezing NUCs, some working fine (SSU Example: NUC_OK.zip) and some just freezing (SSU Example: NUC_fail.zip).

For more understanding, I mean a system that just stop working with a freezed screen, non functioning mouse and keyboard and no reaction on the power button unless I press it for 10 seconds to hard reset it.

- We installed the systems after updateing the BIOS to version 0048 and later to 0052.

- I "cross-changed" the peripheries (RAM, SSD, PSU) between my both testing machines the freezing was always on the same System

- I installed a Crucial MX200 m.2 SSD instead with the same freezing again

- we recognized that the systems only freezed, when the automatized McAfee-Antivirus fullscan of the system (McAfee Enterprise 8.8) was running and with that run the prozessor ist at 85-100% load, but ...

... 1. the "OK"-System have a lower workload with ~60-90% as mentioned don't freeze

... 2. without that active scan but with active On-Access-Scanner, with AIDA stresstest (CPU at 100%) the System is stable

... 3. without that active scan but with active On-Access-Scanner, with AIDA stresstest (CPU at 100%) AND several copyjobs the System is freezing after a short period

... 4. without that active scan but with DEACTIVATED On-Access-Scanner, with AIDA stresstest (CPU at 100%) AND several copyjobs the System is stable

... 5. now I deactivated Hyperthreading in BIOS and the freezings are gone

Now I am totally confused because it seems that it is no thermal problem, no SSD problem, no memory problem, no McAfee problem nor a combination of it, especially since the known hyperthreading-issue should be fixed with BIOS version 0047

I am not sure how much of our Systems are affected since not every user is reporting properly or sees that problem as the same because we have the BSOD-problem too when the System send the monito to sleep and do not wake it up again (except the energie-savings are deactivated).

btw. I obliterated the IP-Informations in the SSU-Files.

I appreciate some help and/or informations about that issue.

With kind regards DarkTapo
