Strange behaviour

How my Nuc is connected to my TV.

NUC------------>YAMAHA RVA3060 HDMI input#4.------------------------------> TV sony KD-55X9005A input 4.

I have a really strange behavior.

Plugged to my LG Monitor, I do see the flickering as well on my NUC6CAYH that a lot of us are complaining about.:

I also tried the NUC plugged on my TV as described above through My Yamaha receiver.

I do not see the flickering anymore, BUT when I start  or stop the NUC, My TV is switch automatically to HDMI1 .  The funny part is I have no cable connected on HDM1 ....   it is very easilly showable as it happens on ALL switch on/off.

REALLY strange.

Needless to say, all drivers are up to date. HDMI has been flashed to last FW.

WHAT IS THE PLAN TO GET DECENT HDMI BEHAVIOUR ?

NUC6CAYH randomly freezes

There are a few threads here on this forum regarding NUC6CAYH becoming unreachable over the network after certain amount of time.

Initially I thought that it's a LAN card issue but then I decided to run a crontab script every 5 minute:

*/5 * * * * ~/just-logging-timestamp.sh >> ~/timestamp.log

So after running the above script it turned out that when the NUC is unreachable over the network, it's in fact frozen, because the timestamp script is not logging anything.

After I restart the NUC from the power wall, I can login again over SSH and I can see that the logs are missing for the time period when the NUC was unreachable.

I'm currently using BIOS 38, and I can upgrade to 41 although I don't see anything related to my issue in the changelog. Obviously even if I update the BIOS it will take some time before I can report back with the results.

Here is the overview of the timestamp script log so far:

- YYYY-MM-DD

- 2017-10-27 - froze

- 2017-10-18 - froze

- 2017-10-02 - manual restart (other reasons)

- 2017-09-30 - manual restart (other reasons)

- 2017-09-24 - froze

- 2017-09-02 - froze

- ????-??-?? - start timestamp script

The NUC is running 24/7 with Debian Stretch, and I can confirm that it's not OS related because I had other Linux OS'es before that and occasionally I had the same issue, although at the time I was thinking that it's a LAN card issue.

NUC7i5BNH and HD Graphics Driver v4678

As I have noted elsewhere in these forums I have been running a NUC7i5BNH with bios v46 and HD Graphics Driver v4678 for some time. I have also asked that Intel not concentrate on issues relating to 4k graphics resolutions to the exclusion of interests of people who wish to continue with bios v46. I have found that this combination of bios and graphics driver is the only one, so far, that gives me trouble-free video and HDMI audio at 1920x1080 resolution. All of the more recent drivers give me audio problems, and it could well be related to my requirement to persist with bios v46.

Yet HD Graphics Driver v4678 has now been removed from the search downloads for NUC7i5BNH. I see that this version is still being referred to in other forum threads, for example Audio issues at 4k on NUC7I5BNH . I would appreciate it if this most useful driver for anyone still running bios v46 could be restored to the search downloads list for this NUC.

Regards.

Why no NUC splash screen via USB-C cable

Forum,

The setup is NUC7i5, Samsung S34E790C display, and a HDMI cable OR USB-C to DisplayPort cable (ALOGIC)

When the display is connected via HDMI cable, on boot I see the "Intel NUC" splash screen then the Windows 10 Home splash screen.  When it is connected via USB-C, on boot the "Intel NUC" splash screen is not displayed then the Windows splash screen is.

When connected via HDMI, BIOS interface displays as expected.  When connected via USB-C, BIOS interface does not display.

Please advise if this is expected behaviour?

Thanks

Shannon

NUC6CAYH loses ethernet connection

Hello everybody,

today I was making a speed test of my Internet connection (fiber, with 1 Gbps download, 200 Mbps upload) with the Speedtest application for Windows 10 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/speedtest-by-ookla/9nblggh4z1jc?SilentAuth=1&wa=wsignin1.0), which I already did several times before. Today, instead, during the upload speed test, suddenly the ethernet connection of the NUC crashed, and I couldn't have it working again since I restarted the NUC. Since I haven't any keyboard or monitor attached to the NUC, which I control only by remote desktop, and I have disabled wireless connection on it, this s quite annoying.

Is there anybody experiencing the same issue, maybe under similar conditions of load on the onboard ethernet card?

is there a way an hardware way to turn on the wireless connection in these circumstances?

Reading NUC temperature sensors

Hi,

I am interested into know the following:

Is there a way to read Intel NUC kit (NUC7i7BNH) temperature sensors from Windows command line?

I know that several grapfical tools to read temperatures exist - but I'm in need for a command line tool, to automate monitoring. My NUC happens to reside in an unwarmed cottage (remote amateur radio site), at where the temperature might fall very low during the winter.

PCIe issue with NUC7 Bios

Our PCIe Express hardware device (PCIe x4 GEN I interface) is connected to the 4 Lanes PCI Interface on the M.2 slot.

We did some basic tests with an older BIOS version 0031 from 14th December 2016 and everything was working fine.

After upgrading to the latest BIOS version BNKBL357.86A, Version 0054 from October 25th 2017 we see PCI Express link issues.

We analyzed the behavior with the PCI Express analyzer and saw repetitive PCIe LINK trainings.

It seems like ASPM (Active State Power Management) is activated which is not supported from our hardware.

We tried to downgrade to an older BIOS version but this is prohibited with the latest ME version.

Therefore, I cannot tell you since which BIOS version this problem is present.

We also changed the Windows 10 power management settings but it didn’t have any affect to the PCIe Link.

The same issue was present on both NUC7i7 and NUC7i5 systems we tested. We did not observe the same issue with NUC6i5 systems.

It would be very nice if you could help me with the following questions:

  1. Do you have an explanation for this behavior?
  2. Is this PCIe Link behavior activated by accident or on purpose enabled for M.2 SSDs?
  3. Can we expect that a BIOS upgrade will fix our link problem?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Latest graphics driver update caused severe posterisation on 4K monitor

I just updated my NUC7i5BNH with Intel® Graphics driver version 15.60.0.4849, running on Windows 10 RS3 1709, all graphics and gradient colours now display severe posterisation (banding). Display is running DP 1.2 MST 4K 60hz, if I switch the display to DP 1.1 (4K 30hz), posterisation is gone.

And I cannot revert back to previous driver version since it's removed from the driver download page.

NUC6i7KYK Bluetooth problems

Good day!

Six months ago I bought NUC6i7KYK and noticed the incorrect work of the bluetooth. At any time (this can be 10 minutes, half an hour, hour or any other), the sound may disappear or start popping, and after a few minutes it appears again. It is absolutely impossible to watch a movie normally or listen to music. During these six months I periodically checked the new drivers and installed them, but the problem was not solved. I had to disable the bluetooth in the BIOS and buy a Chinese usb-module for $4, which works perfectly. But it's not right! I always have a busy USB 3.0 port and a high-speed built-in bluetooth should work correctly, especially since this is a software problem.

I have Win10 1703 x64 and Apple AirPods. I would like to help the company's engineers solve this problem. Maybe you have instructions for this? For example, a debugging program that will write a log to determine the cause of the problem. Thank you for your attention and help!

Intel NUC7I5BNK Windows Shrink after the compter sleep

After few weeks use and test of 4k60Hz video output over HDMI2.0 on my NUC7I5bnk, and after updating all the driver and BIOS using Intel Driver & Support Assistant, I still have problems with my open windows, some open windows shrink to small windows and position will be moved to top left corner when NUC goes to standby mode. Please see screenshot attached.

I was quite surprise of the problems because it never happened in the past in the other computers that I have. I thought that Intel was a good and reliable brand, and I feel otherwise now.

Please some one advise how to solve this problems.

VIZIO tv HDMI video detection/sound issue resolved in Win 10 Fall Update

HI. Just an update for those using NUC6i7KYK driving VIZIO TV via HDMI.
The "No video" or "Not Support" (yea this is how it is spelled) issue is gone after the Windows 10 Pro Creative fall update Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) - Version 1511
Switching HDMI inputs or turning the TV on/off is fine. Sound issue also resolved.
Kinda miss my headphones. No one knew when I was playing on my computer. Now they do.
Thanks to @Scott and others who suggested driver updates.
Looking forward to the  IceLake  (60W ??) NUC later with 64GB memory support for next Holiday (Christmas)

Happy Thanksgiving to all !!

NUC NUC7I5BNH won't power off

After installing the Windows 10 Fall Update my NUC7I5BNH won't power off unless I press and hold the power button until it turns off (hard off).

If I shutdown via Windows it just immediately starts Windows back up. I don't even get to the BIOS/UEFI splash screen.

If I press the power button on the front of the NUC the same behavior happens.

Skull Canyon NUC no post

My friend owns a Skull Canyon NUC (Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK) for a short while, but a few days ago she said it didn't turn on anymore and I am not sure what she did. The power button LED doesn't light up, but the fans run very loudly when I attempt to turn it on. I have tried booting it without the RAM and SSD, with one stick of RAM, and different combinations of that. I have tried the BIOS recovery but none of it seems to work. I hope the unit isn't bricked.

RAM: Crucial 2133MHz 2*8GB

SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB

Any solutions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. RMA is hopefully the last resort. Thanks.

NUC7i3BNK - Broken PCM sound from and above 88.2/16 via HDMI

Hi

No issue with DTS_MA (96/24) and with other encoded HD format but sound in case of PCM from and above 88.2/24 is broken more and more as quality is higher and higher.

It is same problem with Direct Sound and WASAPI, with foobar2k and Jriver and Kodi.

I tried latest three Intel Audio Drivers but problem is same.

win64_154518.4664.exe

GFX_WIN10_64_15.46.5.4771_BN.zip

GFX_WIN10_64_win64_154702.4815.zip

DAC is Pioneer Receiver SC-LX 59 which is working fine from other sources via HDMI too.

OS: Win10pro 1703

Update: I have tried over all HDMI port on the receiver. Surprisingly only 4K HDCP2.2 port were effected. I would emphasize that other sources can drive these ports too without issue.

I have tested several BIOS settings and updated BIOS Firmware too.

Any ideas?

Has anybody tried the little Canon RC6 remote with an Intel NUC6i7KYK Skull Canyon?

Hello,

I have found this little Canon RC6 remote

http://www.eos-magazine.com/articles/remotes/canonrc6.html

I was wondering if this could be used to power on (from s5) a Intel NUC6i7KYK Skull Canyon?

It doesn't have to do anything else, just power on from s5.

And if nobody has tried, what would be the easiest way to try to do this?

Any suggestions for BIOS/Windows (Pro) 10 settings?

Thanks for the help!

Jan
