NUC6i7KYK2 no video signal

Hi,

Suddenly I can only access my NUC6i7KYK2 using Remote Desktop from another computer in the same lan, but attached monitor by HDMI or Displayport are not recognized, not show anything.

So I can access the bios.

I verify that the monitors are OK, and also the cables are working.

I tried moving the yellow jumper and also disconnecting the CMOS battery.

Just yesterday I was able to use it with a monitor, the last time I  use a monitor was by displayport adapter to VGA. But now none works, even using direct HDMI cable.

Device Manager (Windows 10) shows no errors, and the Intel graphics driver installed (all drivers and bios are up-to date) but on Monitor  only shows "Generic no-Pnp monitor", I don't know if this is normal as I'm using remote desktop, but a HDMI monitor is attached and did not show up.

Iris Graphic Control Panel show no display available.

Regards,

Martin.

NUC7i7BNKQ - Sleep Issues

$

First of all: I could not find info about the NUC's front LEDs behavior meaning it entered in 'Sleep Mode':

  • Blue Frame and OnOff On;
  • Blue Frame on; OnOff Blinking Blue;
  • or Blue Frame off; OnOff blinking amber ?

Another: when plugged, but off, the LED is a steady amber; shouldn't it be also OFF?

Obs.: I also have a Intel Compute Stick STK2m3W64CC (I deeply regret this line discontinued) and the LED goes blinking amber, when in Sleep Mode; and off, when OFF.

I have a backlighted keyboard (Kinesis Gaming Freestyle Edge) attached to the NUC

When I go: Start Button > Power > Sleep, just the Monitor is turned off; the keyboard's LEDs are still on; NUC's lights all on (sometimes, OnOff blinking). And it 'wakes up' almost instantly (that's a good thing)

I ran a 'energy report' by typing "powercfg -energy" into the command prompt (at administrator level).

Attached is the energy-report.pdf, showing some issues that may be causing the not-sleeping.

  • Power & Sleep are configured to NEVER (like both my other Win 10 computers, with no sleep issues)

  • All drivers dutifully updated

Any suggestions?

And please clarify the expected LEDs behavior.

CPU Microcode released by Microsoft for Kabylake U/Y

After having some issues with my NUC7i5BNH (Chrome crashing after Windows updates this past week), I found this article on BleepingComputer about microcode revisions being released through the Windows Update program.

A Bunch of Intel Microcode Patches Have Arrived on the Microsoft Update Catalog

While I see that Kabylake U/Y is listed,I am having a hard time determining the "CPUID" codes they are listing. They indicate 000806E9, but I cannot any string similar to this using regedit, CPU ID app or the Intel Processor Identification. I found the revision string via regedit, but I am not sure how else I can confirm that I own a CPU that would be positively affected by this microcode update. To be exact, i5-7260U running revision -x84.

Any info would be helpful. I thought I could get these string to compare from the 3 modes mentioned.

Thanks!

NUC7i5BNH Intermittent HDMI Audio Drop Issue

I recently purchased the NUC7i5BNH for use as my main HTPC.

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

8GB RAM

128GB M.2 SSD

A/V connected to Vizio E50-C1 via HDMI 1.4a

Similar (but not identical) to some other issues posted on this forum, I am experiencing intermittent audio drop-outs during video playback.  The drop-out typically last no longer than 2 seconds, and occurs infrequently (no more than once per hour).

There is not affect to video playback, only audio.

I have experienced this while playing online video via Netflix (web browser and W10 app), YouTube, and HBO NOW.

I have experienced this while playing offline video via VLC and W10 Movies & TV app.

I have not experienced this while playing the same videos on an older laptop connected to the same Vizio E50-C1 via the same HDMI 1.4a cable.

I have temporarily worked around the problem by purchasing a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter, and connected the NUC7i5BNH to the same Vizio E50-C1 via the same HDMI 1.4a cable.  This has remedied the audio drop-out issue by bypassing the NUC7i5BNH's HDMI port completely.  I hope Intel issues a fix for the NUC7i5BNH's HDMI audio.

iflash 16 bit application? Need to update bios via cmd line. nuc5i5myhe

Need to update bios via cmd line

Preparation for windows 10

secure boot enabled

Before someone ask me what i am trying to do -

I need to apply the same bios settings to multiple machines either via cmd line or during SCCM imaging.

I have read all of the guides, i have downloaded several express bios installers and "os independent iflash"

I had tried the integrator toolkit efi shell, - but i need to have secure boot turned on and this is a problem with ITK

Im fine with applying a stock bios but need to do it via command line - i can only find once switch "-s" which is apparently silent, but reboots the machine immediately. ( this is a problem for sccm imaging or an application package ) - need to apply on next boot like other vendors

I am testing creating a .bio file and need to apply this to several machines.  Per the instructions i need to use the iflash2.exe utility however this is a 16bit app, that will not run in my winpe or dos.  Is there a version compatible with modern day x64 windows or dos?

Example - I download the latest bios fro the support website - MYBDWi5v.86A.0040.BI - in the zip file is a iflash.exe from 2012

Link is below.

Download BIOS Update [MYBDWi5v.86A]

MYBDWi5v.86A.0040.BI

What i would need to fix this

an iflash utility that will work with nuc5i5myhe in x64 winpe, or x64 windows

or

command line switches for the stock bios installers, to not reboot immediately so bios is applied on next boot

i've tried a Samsung M.2 SSD with no Problems:

Is only PCIe NVMe supportet in the M.2 Slot? I tried to put the WD Green in a HP 600G3SFF (where i got the Samsung SSD) and the HP doesnt  recognize the wd green too :/

i've ordered a new wd green, maybe its defect...?

best greetings

Unable to create suppport ticket for malfunctioning NUC

Hi everybody,

I encountered an error on my NUC DN2820FYKH recently. Whenever I start to boot up it shows following message:

"Caution : Using other than 12V DCadaptor may cause component damage and unstable system performance"

It shuts down after 2-3 seconds, I can't even access BIOS. I tried this with 3 other original NUC power adapters (all of which work fine with my other NUCs), the result was the same.

When I check the warranty status on the support page everything it says the warranty expires in July 2018.

However, when I request support for this device I get an infinite loading screen ("Checking...") and nothing happens. Tried this in several browsers, no success.

This is really annoying since I couldn't even find a mail address I could write to.

Other ideas anyone? Otherwise I'd like to kindly ask Intel support team to contact me directly.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Best regards

Nuc7i5BNK USB3.0 not active after 2/18 windows updates

Hey All,

I have a of IDS imaging Ueye-LE USB 3.1 camera I am attaching to a NUC7i5BNK running windows 10 Pro 64bit. Previous to the end of February, there were no issues with the device being recognized and achieving usb 3.0/1 transfer speeds. After the latest round of windows updates, the usb 3.0 device, if recognized at all, shows up as a USB 2.0 device. I have not been able to reliably reproduce a successful camera recognition. I have used the three USB SS ports (two back 1 front) but the behavior is an intermittent connection. I have latest bios chipset, thunderbolt, and GFX drivers installed. Things work correctly when connected usb C to thunderbolt. Anyone have an idea what is going on? Is there a hotfix?

Cheers

NUC6CAYH can not turn on

Hi,

I have bought

Intel NUC Boxnu X6CAYH Celeron J3455 Max. 8GB RAM 2GB DIMMS including Intel Wireless-AC 3168 + BT 4.2

together with one memory module

QUMOX 4 GB 204 pin DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM (1600Mhz, PC3L-12800S, CL11, 1.35V, Low Voltage)

and

Kingston SSD A400 – Solid state drive 2.5 inch SATA 3 Solid State Drive, black.

Assembled together, connected mouse, keyboard and monitor through HDMI.

Power switch turn yellow color. When switched on, it turns solid blue, no blinking.

Keyboard is not reacting, no led diodes on, nor blinking.

Mouse is not reacting, no red light from optical mouse.

Monitor stays black. No signal from HDMI, tried two monitors.

Tried also another 4GB memory module with the same specs. Nothing happened.

Then returned the NUC unit and ordered a new one. Problem remains even with the new one. I don't know if I had two defective units?

It should not be memory problem since then the power button shall be blinking, see Troubleshooting No Boot or No Power Issues on Intel® NUC Products

When trying clear CMOS, see Clearing CMOS on Intel® NUC  nothing happen.

When holding power button for 3 seconds, see BIOS Recovery Update Instructions for Intel® NUC , nothing happen.

Still no monitor signal, no keyboard diodes, no optical mouse light.

But I can charge my mobile phone through the USB ports!

I am suspicious if the units was not tested on Windows system and fastboot option were enabled. Now without any OS I can not boot.

According to Can't Access BIOS Setup with F2 Key for Intel® NUC Kits and Intel®...

Fast Boot enabled

Fast Boot is a feature in BIOS that reduces computer boot time. If it's enabled, you cannot press F2 to enter BIOS Setup, since USB mice and keyboards are unavailable until after the operating system loads.

But I would like install Linux to that unit. I have read how to disable fast boot according to Using Fast Boot in Intel® Visual BIOS 2.x  and Using Fast Boot in Intel® Visual BIOS 1.x  But both assume that keyboard is reacting and that something appears on the monitor, which is not the case.

Thank you for any suggestions,

Vojtech.

NUC7CJYH - no legacy boot option

$

I have just received new NUC7CJYH, the first thing I noticed - there is no legacy boot option in BIOS. It does not recognize any of the legacy drives attached, and when I go to Visual BIOS there is a "Legacy Boot Priority" panel but it is empty. I cannot disable UEFI boot, checkbox is active but greyed-out (see attachment).

I flashed latest BIOS JYGLKCPX.86A.0027.2018.0125.1347.

Does it mean booting from legacy drives is not supported anymore?

NUC6i5SYH Cannot update BIOS

$

I have a NUC6i5SYH with Windows 10 Pro currently using BIOS SYSKLi35.86A version 28 and I cannot update the bios. I have tried 3 different methods on a variety of the different BIOS versions, and they all have the same problem.

1.) F7 update direct file selection (with inserting the USB before and after posting and pressing F7)

2.) USB DOS boot using IFLASH

3.) Windows installer

Also Using the UEFI the online update doesn't work because it fails to communicate with the server.

For the first two methods immediately after I proceed with the flash the computer turns off and the led light blinks orange on for 2-3 seconds, and off for 1-2 seconds repeated indefinitely. According to the blink codes, this may mean that the power on circuit has failed. If the bios flash would proceed as normal, then the computer should restart and begin bios flashing. If I force off the computer (by holding the power button for 10+ seconds) then turn it back on, the computer fails to post and it goes into recovery mode - rolling back the bios and any configurations.

The third method when I try to launch any of the executable I get the message: "current bios is an unsupported legacy bios". And nothing happens.

Addendum:

The reason why I am trying to update the bios because I believe it will fix my BSODs. Currently my fresh installed Windows doesn't BSOD at all until OS updates are installed. After updates are installed only safe mode doesn't BSOD. This started happening around 2 months ago - before it was working fine for two years. This BSOD is the undefined behavior type of BSOD so I get all sorts of stopcodes. Did memory tests, showed up nothing. Looking like a software problem to me.

NUC7i5BNH firmware update 0052 to 0061 safe to do?

$
0
0

I have a NUC7i5BNH using firmware 0052 and it appears to be working fine.  I see the latest firmware is 0061

but I see references in some forums to issues with firmware 0061 after updating.  This makes me a little gun-shy

about updating the BIOS though normally this would be a good idea to pick up security fixes and and other hardware

support improvements.  But this 0061 sounds a little questionable.

Can anyone comment on this?  Is it safe to update the BIOS to this version or is there hardware compatibility issues with

this BIOS update?

What is the community consensus on this?  Update or don't update?
