Hello

I have a Nuc NUC6CAYH and wake from suspend/sleep does not work from within Linux.  No commands from USB keyboard or remote will wake the machine, only a press of the on button works.  This is a specific issue to Linux as it will work from when Windows 10 is used.  Please could you look into this and update the BIOS, I would be very grateful.

NUC5PPYH with Samsung SSD 850 EVO is unbootable after BIOS-Update 0068

Hello,

I own three NUC5PPYH with Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120 GB, 8 GB RAM and Windows 10 Pro.

Today I did the BIOS-Update against Meltdown and Spectre (0068):

Download BIOS Update [PYBSWCEL.86A]

I used the EXE-File for Windows. I got no errors during the update. While it installed the update, the LED was blinking blue. After it had finished the LED was solid blue and the NUC tried to reboot. But that's it. The OS does not start any more, only the Intel NUC-Screen appears. I can't even go to BIOS Setup or startup menu.

When I unplug the SSD, I can access BIOS setup. I enabled setup defaults, but no success, the Windows system does not boot.

Then I changed the SSD and put in a Samsung PM851 with 128 GB. With my Windows 10 USB-Stick I could install a fresh system on this SSD.

I took the Samsung SSD 850 EVO and put it into another PC and did a Secure Erase. Then I reinserted it into the NUC and wanted to do a fresh install of Windows 10. But I had no luck, I can't boot the system when the SSD 850 EVO is plugged in.

The strange thing is:
All of my three NUCs have exactly the same behavior. I can't believe that the BIOS-Update 0068 broke all of the three Samsung SSD 850 EVO in all of the three NUCs.

So: What can I do? Do I really need new SSDs after this BIOS-Update?

I am very sad about this BIOS-Update and that it broke my SSDs.

I really hope that there is a solution for it.

Thanks and kind regards

There are some disscussiong, but still no solution.

I'v installed ESXi 6.5 on my NUC skull code name NUC6i7KYK.

CPU fan will still working after I shutdown the system with ESXi's control panel. But, this problem is not happening everytime, without modification of BIOS as well as ESXi's configuration, NUC can shutdown completely occasionally.

Where can I get a genuine replacement M.2 screw for brand new NUC?

I just bought a NUC (NUC7i5BNK), but have rounded off the screw when installing the M.2 board as it's insanely tight. Where can I get a genuine replacement. I contacted the reseller and they said that can't order them, so I contacted Intel and they said I have to talk to the reseller! I'm based in the UK.

All I want to do is buy a replacement screw!

Screen sporadically becomes black on Intel NUC (NUC7i5BNH)

Another problem I noticed and which is very annoying is the screen sporadically becomes black for a second on my Intel NUC. It does not seem the graphic driver crashes as there is no error message by Windows and the screen is only black for a second or two – after that all is as before.

  • This behaviour only appears when I use both monitors. When I only use Monitor 1 I don't have this problem.
  • When I put a YouTube video into fullscreen on Monitor 2 (Google Chrome) the behaviour appears. When I move a Window from Monitor 1 over this fullscreen on Monitor 2 (e. g. Windows Task Manager) the behaviour is no longer present. When I change to fullscreen again so the Windows is minimized the screen sporadically becomes black again. That is very mysterious.

Model: NUC7i5BNH (Date of Manufacture: 06/2017), SA J3**** - 305

SSD: Samsung 960 Evo M.2

RAM: 8GB Crucial DDR4-2133 SO-DIMM CL15 Single (CT8G4SFD8213)

Monitor 1: Dell P2715Q (3840x2160), DisplayPort over USB-C

Monitor 2: Dell U2715H (2560x1140), HDMI

Drivers: Up to date. I use BIOS version 0062.

The BIOS did not correctly communicate with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM)

Hi,

I'm trying to deploy  more than 50 NUCs with SCCM.

A lot of NUCS are succesfully deployed but a few others aren't.

An error occurs during the last step of the sequence: Enable Bitlocker.

2150694914: The BIOS did not correctly communicate with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Contact the computer manufacturer for BIOS upgrade instructions.

Manually:

When i try to enable Bitlocker manually from Windows, the following error is shown: The BIOS did not correctly communicate with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

unreliable Workaround:

The problem goes (not always) away after disabling and enabling UEFI BOOT and SECURE BOOT, followed by Clear Secure Boot Data.

Its possible that the NUCs were previously deployed with bitlocker, but i can't verify this.

How can i prevent this error in the future, and upcoming deployments?

Thanks in advance,

Jerome

Hello

I want to build a micro system for capture video, and I think about a i7 NUC with a Magwell ECO capture (Magewell - Eco Capture Dual SDI M.2 )

I know that Nucs have a M M.2 card type, so it fits, and it is x4 pcie lanes, but it works?

Thanks

Intel NUC7i3DNH - COM port not working?

Hello, we have two of these NUCs. We placed board from the first one to Akasa passive case A-NUC39-M1B (Plato X7D). This case comes with COM port cable (see attachment). COM is enabled in BIOS (bios v40) and visible as COM1 in Windows 10 1703. But no communication goes through. We checked that Akasa cable with tester (acoustic pin tester) and cable is OK.  We then tried second board and still no luck - it's the same. Intel, can you check it is working on your test units, please? It seems unlikely to me that we got bad luck wit two boards.

Intel NUC7i TB3/USB-C Port Still Powered After Shutdown/Hibernate

When the computer is shutdown or hibernated, the USB-C/TB3 port is still powered.

In BIOS I turned off USB Power for Yellow port, and enabled Deep S4/S5, but still not resolved.

I have eGPU (Aorus Gaming Box) connected to TB3, and the fan keeps on even after shutdown. I have to unplug the NUC and the fan would then stop.

NUC 6i7KYK Windows 10 - Headset microphone not being detected despite up-to-date Realtek drivers

$

Hi there,

What can I do to get my Intel NUC 6i7KYK Skull Canyon, running Windows 10 (Home), to detect my gaming headset's microphone audio input?

I have used the Intel automatic driver assistant and can confirm that my Realtek High Definition Audio drivers are up-to-date (6.0.1.7982, Release date: January 18, 2017, Size: 380 MB).

When I plug in my headset, which is this model, I do not get any Realtek Audio Manager pop-up window.

I have to manually click the Speaker icon in the taskbar, and this what I see in the Playback Devices & Recording Devices menus:

pZ9bd3.jpg

I have tested the Headset and it is properly receiving the NUC's stereo audio output.

The settings look like this:

KGC2zR.jpg

However, when I go to the Recording screen, with the Headset's boom mic plugged in correctly, all I see is this:

CHoZdT.jpg

Whatever this "Stereo Mix" thing is, the Intel NUC is detecting it as some sort of microphone or audio input device, because when I use Windows 10's default Voice Recorder application, it successfully records whatever music I'm currently listening to on the headset:

zB4c7y.jpg

And then when I disable the "Stereo Mix", the system does not detect my Headset Boom Mic:

HCabiO.jpg

The same result happens when I try to plug the headset into the front audio jack of the NUC, with my microphone attached to the headset, through a splitter cable (1 x 3.5mm female to 2 x 3.5mm male, headphone + mic separate lines). The headphone stereo audio out still works when using the individual headphone audio splitter cable. But the microphone is not detected when I plug just the splitter's mic jack into the front audio panel of the NUC.

So what can I do to make the headset microphone work?

I have come across similar questions and issues here and here

but neither of these provide solutions.

Could it be that my BIOS needs updating? The automatic Intel Driver assistant says that my BIOS needs updating. I will try download the latest version now and install it and see what happens.Update: No, a BIOS update did not fix the issue.

Update #2: Finally, the headset works, but only through a cheap USB sound card that I have which looks roughly like this:

44948856b16e6328896_f459.jpg

I would still like to know: how can I make the headset work just by plugging the combo, 4-strip 3.5mm jack of the headset into the combo front audio panel of my Intel NUC?

iflash 16 bit application? Need to update bios via cmd line. nuc5i5myhe

Need to update bios via cmd line

Preparation for windows 10

secure boot enabled

Before someone ask me what i am trying to do -

I need to apply the same bios settings to multiple machines either via cmd line or during SCCM imaging.

I have read all of the guides, i have downloaded several express bios installers and "os independent iflash"

I had tried the integrator toolkit efi shell, - but i need to have secure boot turned on and this is a problem with ITK

Im fine with applying a stock bios but need to do it via command line - i can only find once switch "-s" which is apparently silent, but reboots the machine immediately. ( this is a problem for sccm imaging or an application package ) - need to apply on next boot like other vendors

I am testing creating a .bio file and need to apply this to several machines.  Per the instructions i need to use the iflash2.exe utility however this is a 16bit app, that will not run in my winpe or dos.  Is there a version compatible with modern day x64 windows or dos?

Example - I download the latest bios fro the support website - MYBDWi5v.86A.0040.BI - in the zip file is a iflash.exe from 2012

Link is below.

Download BIOS Update [MYBDWi5v.86A]

MYBDWi5v.86A.0040.BI

What i would need to fix this

an iflash utility that will work with nuc5i5myhe in x64 winpe, or x64 windows

or

command line switches for the stock bios installers, to not reboot immediately so bios is applied on next boot

Intel NUC6i7KYK Skull Canyon internal USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports (via header) problems

$

Hello All,

Via MicroSATAcables.com i purchased both of the cables from GO-RITE that expose Skull Canyon's internal USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports (and Common I/O Header).

MicroSATACables.com: Intel NUC NUC6i7KYK Skull Canyon Internal USB 3.0 Header Cable

MicroSATACables.com: Intel NUC NUC6i7KYK Skull Canyon Internal Common IO Header DF1.25mm 20 Pin

All 4 USB connections from the header cable (2xUSB 2.0,  2xUSB 3.0) worked fine for a while.

But now only 1 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 is working on the header cable.

I can't remember if they went bad after some Windows update..all i know is that one day i could't get both ports to work..

=>I first tried to update and change settings, but the problem is still there:

1. i updated to the latest BIOS

2. my OS (Windows 10 Pro) is up to date

3. i reinstalled all usb drivers (in device manager) manually

4. in USB properties/power management (device manager) i unchecked 'allow computer to turn off this device to save power'

5. in control panel/power settings i disabled the 'USB selective suspend' setting

6. in BIOS all USB ports are set to 'enabled'

=>I did some troubleshooting on the faulty USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port of the header cable:

-my old HP computer keyboard works fine!

-my optical mouse gets power (light=on) but doesn't work: 'USB device not recognized'

-hard drives get power but don't show up in 'This PC'

-other devices get power but don't show up

! ! ! All devices that are not working on the faulty USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port of the header cable WORK PERFECTLY FINE when connected to the other USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port of the header cable or the other USB 3.0 ports on the Skull Canyon ! ! !

So i am trying to find a solution for this.

Maybe i should order a new header cable, but the fact that my old HP computer keyboard works fine, and that all connected devices recieve power on the 2 faulty ports should mean that the cable is fine?

Hopefully someone can help!

Thanks,

Jan

2 X 2TB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD in NUC6i7KYK??

$

Hello,

I have a skull canyon NUC and two Samsung 960 PRO 2TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSDs. My thought was to install these both and have 4TB of use-able space. When I install both drives and boot my NUC (Ubuntu 16.04), I only see 2TB of available space. Is there something I need to mod in the settings or otherwise to have the NUC recognize all 4 TBs? Or is it inherently unable to use that much space?

Thanks!

Intel driver and support assistant shows me that i have installed version 17.2.71.2 and the newer version is 17.2.71.250. Well, after downloading the update (TBT_WIN10_64_17.2.71.250), installing it and rebooting the box the driver and support assistant is still showing me that i have installed Version 17.2.71.2 and an update is available. I have installed Version 3.2.0.9 of the Intel driver and support assistant.

NUC7i3BN And Gorite Stackable 'Memory' Unit

$

I just purchased a 'tall version with Optane Memory Module' NUCi3BN unit and outfitted it with 8GB memory and a 500GB Samsung 960 EVO NNMe SSD drive. Of course, this left the 16MB Optane memory module unusable since I used the M.2 for the EVO SSD. Was browsing the Gorite site to look at their lids and ran across a little external, stackable unit that could house 2 M.2 SSD's which I think could run in RAID.

My question is:

Could I possibly use the enclosure to run 2 Optane Memory Modules into the Type-C port of the NUC and it operable or usable? I don't think I want to give up my onboard M.2 because it provides the faster PCI lane for the NVMe EVO SSD. Just something that popped into my head and wanted to get some feedback.

Many thanks in advance...

Nate
