SMBIOS Information Not Displaying in Windows 10
Hello,
I recently started deploying around a dozen NUC's and I am running into an issue. Due to asset and imaging requirements, we require the SMBIOS to be filled out with the serial number, manufacture and internal asset tag. Before you say you have to use tha ITK to push this data in.. I know.
You can see in the image above I have configured the SMBIOS settings the way we need them to be configured. Once this was complete I deployed our image and notice the drivers' injection script was very fast. So I logged into the machine once the image was deployed and noticed that I was unable to get the information required from the command prompt.
I have since reflashed the bios and even reset the SMBIOS settings and I am still unable to get this to work on 4 of my devices, some were working on previous BIOS version and are no longer on the latest.
I have about 5x NUC6i3SYK's and 8x NUC7i3BNK's ALL on their respective latest bios firmware. Some work some don't in both types. Most are imaged to UEFI windows 10 64bit using the same base image. We have 3 with a Windows 7 Image (Same Base)
SYSKLi35.86A.0066.UEFI
BNKBL357.86A.0064.UEFI
You can see from he above I have 3 stuck at the top and then the 3rd one in the second section I made a type and I am unable to correct it in the model number field.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
actual nuc5cpyh not boot from sd, older can
Hi all,
in 04 Feb 2016 I bought a NUC5CPYH. From the beginning it boots from SD an Ubuntu without any other storage. Days ago, the device dies i don't know why, it runs for a few minuts and then nothing. Well, it has been working fine so i decide to buy the same model again, plug the memory, the SD and try to boot. It shows the typical message that can't find a bootable device. No problem, i get into the BIOS and ... i can't see the SD card in any option. The broken NUC5CPYH comes with the Visualbios 2.2.16 and the new one with the 2.2.20 version. Then, need i to do a downgrade to get the SD boot option?

NUC7i5BNHXF-Taskbar ICONS Missing on extended display(TV)
I have the following setup.
Main Display is a 27" 1920 Monitor attached to Thunderbolt port with USB C to HDMI (Samsung)Cable, NO Problems
Extended Display is a 55" Sharp 1920 TV attached to the HDMI port.
If I set up system to Duplicate Display there is no problem I get all app Icons on Both Displays.
In Extended Mode The following happens
If TV is Turned on HDMI or Normal TV and I boot up the NUC The ICONS are there on the TV Taskbar.
If TV is off when I boot up the NUC The ICONS are missing on the TV Taskbar(unless you are in Duplicate mode).
Same issue when NUC wakes up from sleep.
I found a quick way to get the ICON's back, Right click on taskbar and toggle - Show task view Button- or any other one and they come back.
I have tried every conceivable setting in BIOS also tested different HDMI cable but to no avail. Win 10 PRO with all the display settings correctly......
I DO NOT WANT DUPLICATE DISPLAY.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
NUC8i7HVK first time setup anything i should know?
Hi everyone, I just ordered the NUC and am very excited to get this thing setup. It still hasn't come in yet, but I am preemptively downloading required drivers for the nuc. I am preforming a clean windows w10 install and manually installing software as needed.
I guess I just wanted to know is there anything I should be aware of when setting this thing up for the first time? just to make it as painless as possible. I built my own pc, but I am not sure if things have changed much since I last tinkered with them years ago. Are there install orders for drivers or hardware? does each driver require a restart or can they be bulk installed? Never updated a bios but how difficult is it with the nuc? sorry if this has all been asked before, I am just a little nervous.
thanks in advance, hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
kind regards, sam.
Can USB and SATA Header +5 Power Rails be Merged?
For Intel NUC7i7DNHE, is it possible to somehow combine/merge the 5V power rail from the two internal USB 2.0 ports and the SATA power header to get a total of 5V 3A power source?
If they cannot be directly merged into a single power rail, would a Current Balancing Controller be sufficient to combine both power sources?
Thanks,
Harry
NUC8i7HVK trying to RAID 2 800P SSDs
I have BIOS 0040 installed.
I am attempting to RAID 2 800P SSDs and I am getting some kind of bug in the BIOS. This is what I get in the 3 ways I can configure M.2.
As you can see when attempting to remap these drives to RST M.2 drive #2 does not do so correctly.
I have already swapped drive positions and M.2 #2 still will not remap.

NUC6I7KYK doesn't respond to F2 (or F7, or F10) during boot
I have been unable to get my NUC6I7KYK to respond to the F2 key (or any other key for that matter) during the boot sequence. The machine is running the most recent BIOS but I also tried the immediate previous one and ran into the same problem. I know the keyboard function keys are OK because they work fine (during boot) on my other computer. It's been a while since I've changed any of the settings on the NUC but I did make some changes a long time ago so I know it used to work.
I do see the F2/F7/F10 options displayed during boot. I've considered the possibility that somehow the thing might have gotten set up for Fast Boot so I've tried the instructions for bypassing it but either that doesn't work or there's some trick I'm missing.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Does the NUC6i7KYK HDMI port support the Display Data Channel (DDC)?
I have connected an NEC LCD2490WUXi2 monitor to an NUC6i7KYK via the HDMI port and an HDMI to DVI-D adapter. NEC's SpectraView calibration software reports "Unable to communicate with any supported display monitors". NEC tech support claims that this is because the NUC6i7KYK does not support the Display Data Channel (DDC) signal. Is this correct?
Audio Device and Taskbar Icons Missing, Solved
NUC7i5BNHXF 16GB Optane 1TB HDD Win10 Pro Insider Build 17686
I uninstalled Realtek High Definition Audio. Disabled 2381 Intel Display Audio
I now have SHARP TV on HDMI Set as Default Audio Device and a small USB Soundbar on a generic audio driver. Microphone is Logitech Webcam.
Skype has been set to use Webcam mic. and USB audio device without any problem.
High Performance Power scheme but setting the same for all. The timers are off course whatever you choose.
Display Sleep 3 Minutes
PC Sleep after 5 Minutes
HDD Sleep after 10 Minutes
I let the computer go to sleep by itself and let it sleep for more than 10 minutes(would loose my audio devices on wake up before)
TV Turned OFF
Wake up PC using keyboard power button, click mouse on wake-up screen PC switches to Log in screen.
Enter PIN, PC wakes up and USB speaker enabled and working
Turn on TV and HDMI AUDIO becomes enabled (already set as default device)
I have no Idea why the Icons aren't disappearing anymore.
I have had no audio issues since doing the above changes.
I'm not sure if this affects Headphone Jack since I don't use it.
NUC7i3 on TV causing cable TV decoder on second HDMI channel flickering
Hello,
My brand new Nuc7i3 has HDMI problems on my led TV (from 2008) with windows 10.
Nuc is working fine on HDMI 1
When switching to another HDMI channel (cable TV) it keeps switching.
Latest bios / graphic drivers are installed. Tried switched off HDMI CEC in bios.
I suspect intel HD graphics driver.
When in bios mode the HDMI2 channel where the cable TV decoder is on is working fine.
When using Ubuntu 18.04 as an OS No problems whatsoever!
Does anyone has a solution for this behaviour?
thanks, Jan

NUC 4K HDR HDMI 2.0a HDCP2.2 OUTPUT ?
HI Guys,
I've been desperately trying to get some concrete information on this topic. It seems almost impossible to find someone who can actually tell you whether it is possible or not?
I wish to get a NUC for which one of its main uses will be local, downloaded, movie playback. I would like to be able to download 4k movies with dolby atoms sound and HDR10 colour.
I use my xbox for Netflix etc so this is for downloaded movies.
I am connecting via HDMI to a Denon 4K HDR Atmos receiver.
Has anybody here had any experience with this and if so which NUC are you using?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Intel NUC8i7HNK - Spare Power Brick
Hello;
Anyone know where to find one? I don't see them in the Intel spare parts store...
NUC5i3RYH 3 blinks, won't boot
Hello
My NUC stopped booting and the screen stays black.
The blue power led blinks 3 times, which seems to indicate a RAM issue (it used to work just fine).
I swapped the RAM stick with 2 others, different brands but both 1.35V, and tried in the 2 RAM slots. Still nothing.
A clear CMOS didn't help either.
The power supplies delivers 19.4V, the 5V, 3.3V and 1.35V on board are present.
Is there a troubleshooting procedure for the Serial presence detect (SPD) ?
Many thanks
Romain

Loud noise out of speakers
I use a BT receiver to play musik over my system. Since I use this NUC a very loud noise comes out of the speaker if:
1. choosing next title into player
2. drag and drop new music into player
3. Any input over Keyboard (this is new after Win 1803 was installed today)
4. It never happened so far if Audiolevel was zero but after upgrade to 1803 it happens even if Audiolevel is zero.
Point 1 and 2 happens from time to time and apears not constantly. (Win 1703)
Point 3 happen all the time now. A speaker has crashed today because of that really loud but short noise. (Win 1803)
What did I do?
Changing BT receiver and use differend players. But it happens with VLC, MS Mediaplayer and Cyberlink Player (all new versions)
So it means up to now cannot use this NUC für playing music.
