NUC8I7HVK - displayport not working

Recently purchased the NUC817HVK with is now up and running. I also purchased a Samsung 4k freesync monitor at the same time.

I found out to use freesync that I need to use displayport rather than HDMI. However when I connect the displayport I don't get anything on the display, it looks like it is connected as it doesn't show no signal but nothing shows up.

Have tried different resolutions/refresh rates etc but no luck. Any help appreciated.

NUC7i5BNH-Intel Graphics UWD 25.20.100.6444 release

Starting today, upcoming releases of Intel Graphics drivers will be UWD, and they will replace your Current Drivers, which are now considered legacy. While it is possible to roll back to legacy drivers if necessary, you will need to manually uninstall the modern driver through the 'Apps and Features' page in Windows.

To start things off, Intel is releasing version 25.20.100.6444 of its graphics driver suite, which is a UWD and is only available for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and later. It's also only available in a 64-bit flavor.

I just installed this version on my NUC7i5BNH running windows 10 insider build 18290(released today) and I am pleased to say everything is looking Good.

wake-up question on NUCC6CAYS

$

I had a query regarding if bluetooth/wifi can wake-up the system from sleep or will prevent sleep from occurring. In the NUCC6CAYS datasheet there is a PCIe wake listed but BT is not. The reason for asking is that my NUC (Ubuntu) does not go to sleep if I choose "Suspend" from the UI when a BT transfer is on-going. Is this expected, will BT activity cause sleep to abort ?

I have the Intel NUC VR and just the red light for the SSD is lit when I start Windows 10, If I temporarily disconnect the power cable after shutting down and restart the computer all the LED's including the skull come back on the way they are supposed to. Today, I started up the NUC and the same problem of no LED's lit occurred again.

NUC8i7BEH CIR Sensitivity ?

I am in the process of upgrading my HTPC from a NUC6i5SYH to a new NUC8i7BEH to get 4K HDMI 2.0 support.  Everything is working fine except the CIR on the new NUC.  With the old NUC I can use my Harmony 650 remote control across the room with no issues.  With the new NUC8i7BEH the distance for the CIR is terrible.  If the remote control is more than 4 feet away of so it becomes very intermittent in responding.  I've tried with Windows 10 and LibreElec with similar results.  I have tried with BIOS versions 0048 and 0051 with the same results.  Is there any sensitivity adjustments for this NUC ?  Or possibly a bad NUC ?  I'd prefer not to use an external IR receiver.

Performance problem with Samsung 970 EVO on NUC7i7DNKE

I have a new Intel NUC7i7DNKE and Samsung 970 EVO 250GB NVMe SSD. The advertised speed of this is 3,500 MB/s for read, and the most I can get is half of that, i.e., 1.8GB/s. Supposedly, BIOS version 52 was made to resolve this issue.

The NUC came with BIOS V44. I read the release notes for V56, and downloaded DNi70056.bio and applied it via the F7 bios update method. Nowhere did I see a note that said apply one BIOS update at a time to get from V44 to V56 either in the release notes or the read me. The update went fine, reset BIOS settings, set machine up, and, was disappointed to see 1.8GB/s speed. I started reading on this site, and found several with the same issue, a few threads were here:

Performance problem with Samsung 970 Pro on NUC7i7DNKE

NUC7i7DNK not achieving proper NVME speeds

But there were others as well. The solution was BIOS V52 apparently, which was long before I even had said machine. Later BIOS versions said nothing about needing to use the jumper recovery method. The notes for V52 say:

Fixed the issue where M.2 PCIe SSDs would run at Generation 2 speeds. and

To fix the M.2 issue, the BIOS must be installed using the jumper recovery method.

But no later BIOS have those notes. So, I thought I would simply go back to V52 with a jumper recovery method, but, it appears this is not possible as V53 says:

Due to the Intel® ME firmware update in BIOS version 0053, you can’t downgrade to version 0052 or earlier.

In case the jumper method still worked, I decided to use the jumper method for V53, it worked, and then I updated back to the more recent V57. Speed was still 1.8GB/s.

I inquired in the other thread about this but was told to make a new case so here it is. I was certainly unaware that only V52 could be used as it was not stated anywhere, nor was I aware of this defect.

Surely there is some sort of method to still update the NUC to get the M.2 SSD fix? Otherwise, all NUCs sold that have an older BIOS and people not realizing this will be permanently defective.

So, what I am wanting is a path to get my NUC7i7DNKE fixed as far as the M.2 SSD speed issue goes.

NUC6i7KYK SATA3 SSD Compatibility

Hello,

I just wanted to confirm if it’s possible to install a 1Tb WD Bue 3D NAND SATA III SSD on the second slot. I only need it to store backups. I feel an PCIe NVMe drive is overkill for storing images and files. This NUK is being used as a workstation.

Thanks

New LG monitor not working with NUC8i7HVK over USB-C

The monitor is a LG 32UD99-W that accepts USB-C, HDMI, & DisplayPort inputs.  This is my second monitor.  I sent the first one back because of this problem.  Sadly, the new monitor exhibits the same unacceptable behavior.  Both monitors work just fine with HDMI.  No issues.  But if I use USB-C, the monitor cycles on and off about every five seconds.  All Intel, Windows10, and LG drivers are up to date.  This is driving me crazy.  HELP!

I see rev 107 from Sept 2018 has an updated table for the USB3 header.

I am trying understand how to wire up this header. Have questions regarding pin 7 and pin 10.

Pin 7:

- Is this for the grounds that run with the TX and RX pair or am I missing something?

Pin 10:

- I need this to act like a USB 3 A connector. Therefore I need to connect cable shield to pin 10?

Thanks,

Help Please: Intel NUC8i7HVK

My bad, I was attempting to resolve the installation of the latest Intel Driver and rebooted prematurely after uninstalling both the Intel and Radeon drivers. No matter what I do to my monitor I do not get a video signal from the NUC after closing the BIOS screen. I've tried USB-C (TB3 - default for my setup), HDMI, and DP. All new cables no drama.

Any suggestions that does not require getting to the windows OS, because I can see it to do anything?

Thank you!

Mike

Wake-on Bluetooth with NUC8i7HNK

I figured my Bluetooth Logitech MX 5500 keyboard wasn't waking my comp was because I had to set something up

Well, I checked in BIOS and wake from Bluetooth is enabled

I went to power management in device manager for my keyboard (comes up as "Logitech HID-Compliant keyboard" )

"allow this device to wake the computer" is already selected

Yet I can hit the power icon on my keyboard, I'm guessing putting the thing to sleep as the skull and other LEDs slowly fade out and in (no red eyes tho) and tapping the power button on the NUC does bring it up quickly

After I do that, I can hit any key, including that one again, and nothing will happen

Am I missing something?

NUC7PJYH: BSODs and hangs after BIOS update - 45 and 46

The first BSOD (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED) happened soon after BIOS update from 44 to 45.

After updating to 46 they became quite frequent. The last one said "SYSTEM_SERVICE-EXCEPTION".  Sometimes the PC just hangs typically, while in browser.  Once it hang at "Welcome" screen.

Before updating to 45 the system was rock solid.

Has anyone else experienced such problems after updating the BIOS?

Thanks,   Peter

NUC8I5BEK cannot wake up after screen off

My NUC8I5BEK with INTEL 760P 256G SSD is connecting to Sony Tv as media center. However, once the screen off, i will never be able to wake it up by any means except to power it off and turn on again.

Here are what i did, but still cannot resolve this issue.

(1) Update all drivers and windows 10 update (1809)

(2) Disable deep sleep in BIOS

(3) 3 mins screen off

(4) never sleep

It is really annoying now as i have to set screenoff and sleep to "never"

NUC8i5BEH: Crackling at the sound output

I have a NUC8i5BEH (Windows 10 1809, latest drivers, latest BIOS).

A 2.1 sound system is connected to it. I always have a crackling sound on the speakers.
It is always only a short cracking if there is no sound output otherwise or if a sound output should start after a rest phase (e.g. mail input).
When playing music or video (permanent sound output) I haven't noticed the crackling so far.

Can someone report something similar or does someone have a tip on how to solve it?

NUC7i7DNH - PCR[1] changes every boot

Hi,

I'm working on a NUC7i7DNH, and I've found that the PCR with index 1 (i.e. PCR[1]) is different every time I boot. PCR[0] and PCRs[2-7] remain the same every boot, as I would expect. Effectively, this means that I can't establish a chain of trust when booting this NUC.

I'm running the latest BIOS (0058 / DNKBLi7v.86A.0040.2018.0315.1507), and the TPM module is enabled in the BIOS.  For my testing, I've read PCR values using both the Intel TPM2 tools for Linux and also the grub bootloader with some modifications; grub simply invokes UEFI functions. Both methods show the same results.

Could you please look into this?

Duncan Palmer
