NUC5i3RYK - How to switch off Bluetooth & WiFi

$

I've recently bought one of these new models, and am happy with it in general. I've installed Windows 8.1 and I'd like to know how to toggle off/on the Bluetooth and WiFi radios. The usual option to do so under PC Settings > PC & Devices > Bluetooth seems to be missing. All I see is the  message about searching for Bluetooth devices.

I've installed the latest Bluetooth 17.1.1411.01 and WiFi 17.14.0 drivers. The only way to turn them off appears to be to disable them in Device Manager & Network Center/Adapter Settings. This seems a bit of a kludge.

So what happened to the toggles like in this image:

NUC5i5RYK and AVR system (Denon 2313CI): No signal gets passed through. Any way to use this as a media PC with Windows 8.1?

For some reason my new NUC (5i5RYK) chokes when connected to my Denon AVR - no signal comes out of the Denon. The old NUC (D54250WYK1) worked fine. What am I missing?

no video signal on marantz avr

Hello all

I have a D54250WYK hooked up to my marantz sr5008, but I don't get any signal over hdmi (not even in the bios). Tried changing ports and cables, but no joy.

When I hook the nuc up to my TV (samsung 55HU7500), using the same cable, I do get a signal. The strange thing is: if I boot the nuc while connected to the TV, then plug it into the avr things work perfectly.

It's not that the nuc is now completely useless as an HTPC, but having to change the wiring every time I want to watch a movie isn't exactly the user experience I was hoping for.

Can anyone here help me out with this?

The specs:

i5 nuc D54250WYK (bios version 0032)

Marantz sr5008 (latest firmware version)

Samsung 55HU7500 (also latest firmware)

USB problem on a DN2820FYKH

Hi! I've installed Fedora Linux on a DN2820FYKH and have installed the latest BIOS. I use a USB DAC, which used to work. Now no sound is coming out of it. I've connected it to all three USB ports but no luck. The DAC is OK because it works on another computer.

I'd greatly appreciate any comments.

NUC5i5RYK ram and video problem

I just picked up a NUC5i5RYK and Crucial 4x2 GB (CT51264BF160BJ) memory. As soon as I installed both sticks of ram and tried to power on the NUC, I got three flashing lights indicating memory issue. After much trial and error, it turned out the NUC didn't like anytime I plugged anything into the top memory slot. However both sticks of RAM works individually when plugged into the bottom slot. Still don't know why this would be the case. However, it turned out a different set of Crucial 4x2 GB ram (BLS2K4G3N169ES4) works just fine on both slots, which I borrowed for a friend. Still don't know why the first set of ram didn't work, since it used to work just fine on previous generation i5 NUC boxes.

Anyway, after getting the system up and running (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit) and installing the latest driver bundle RYH-RYK-Win7-64bit-Driver-Bundle-Mar2015.zip  I thought everything was good to go...until I tried to play a video from youtube (through chrome). The CPU usage hit almost 100% trying to play a 1080p video, and trying to play 4k content was out of the question. I was barely getting 10-15 fps and needless to say, the video was unwatchable. Seeing this, I tried to play some local content from the ssd, and the results were identical. My 7 year old thinkpad handles video better than this. It's as if the GPU was doing nothing, while the CPU was trying to render the video. Intel claims that HD6000 graphics can handle 4k content, but I would beg to differ based on my experience. Even opening 2-3 chrome tabs each playing 720p videos caused the CPU usage to reach almost 100%. I don't know if this strange system behavior is some sort of driver problem, or related to the RAM issue I first observed (although, this is repeatable regardless of which RAM i used), or something is actually wrong with the box. Any help from anyone about this would be much appreciated. Would be interested to know if others also ran into similar issues.

On a related note, one of my friends also bought the exact same combination (NUC5i5RYK and Crucial 4x2 GB CT51264BF160BJ ram) and his system completely failed to boot with the exact same 3 flashing light memory error.

D54250WYK3 NUC won't boot headless after BIOS upgrade to WYLPT10H.86A.0035.BI.ZIP

I have a D54250WYK3 running Linux (openSUSE), and since updating the BIOS to the 0035 version, it won't boot unless connected to a monitor (I'm using HDMI).

Is there any setting in the BIOS to correct this?

Or any other advice will be gratefully received.

can't get triple 3 three monitors to work on g87790-402 nuc board! 1600 x 900 resolution any suggestions?

hardware is as follows

three dell e2014 touch screen monitors

#1 mini display port to hdmi port #1 cable

#2 mini display port to hdmi port #2 cable

#3 hdmi port to hdmi port #2 cable

one nuc g87790-402 board that has the two mini DP and one HDMI cable port on the board.

I can get any two monitors to work at once, but NEVER all three.

when I go under windows 7 display settings and try to apply extend desktop to monitor #3 I get the error message that I can't save display settings.

when I look at device manager I notice something wierd

it lists the following

dell e2014t hdmi #1

dell e2014t hdmi #2

dell e2014t hdmi #2

It appears that the driver can't differentiate between the two monitors becuase they are using the same input port?

fortunately this monitor also has a vga and full size display port jack on back.

I'm going to buy a display port cable and see if that solves the situation,

but I wanted to ask here first and see if anyone has successfully done 3 monitors?

there are only two threads on this and both have failed it appears.

NUC5i3RYH RAM issue - dual module configuration fails to boot

I have acquired NUC 5i3RYH and Crucial dual channel matched DRAM kit (2x4GB CT51264BF160BJ). The memory is listed as supported on NUC page Intel® NUC Boards and Kits — System Memory.

My NUC refuses to boot with both modules installed (power LED blinks 3 times). I tried either of the modules separately in the bottom slot and either boots fine. I have BIOS version 0137. The memory issue troubleshooting page is not very helpful (Intel® NUC Boards and Kits — Troubleshooting Memory Issues), but based on my understanding the dual SODIMM configuration should work with my NUC.

Is there anything else that I can do to troubleshoot?

USB ports disabled after installing 1/15/15 drive update

I just installed the 1/15/15 USB 3.0 driver update for my NUC D34010WYK.  Upon rebooting none of the USB ports are operational.  Without a working mouse or keyboard I can not rollback to the previous restore point.  Does anyone have a suggestion other than reinstalling the Windows 7 x64 that came with the unit?  Thanks for any help that you can provide.

Can't access Bios via F2 or Bios Flash via F7, blank screen

Hello,

i have problems with my new Intel NUC5i3RYK.

I have installed OpenElec and it works without problems. Also installing was no problem. However to setup IR and stuff I would like to access the Bios. Whenever I try to do that, I get a blank screen.

I hit F2 after turning the Nuc on and the screen stays blank, Strg Alt Del reboots the Nuc. The same happens when I try to access Bios flash via F7.

According to this site: Intel® NUC Boards and Kits — Cannot Access BIOS Setup with F2 Key the Bios should be visible on a FullHD TV (mine is a Panasonic 55VTW60).

I tried diffferent HDMI ports and accessing without any additional stuff plugged into the USB ports, no difference.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Intel NUC D54250WYKH2 BIOS does not detect SSD

Hello,

I just received my Intel NUC D54250WYKH2  which I would like to use as XBMC Media Player. Since I already had a 120GB (G.Skill) SSD which I did not need before I wanted to use this in my NUC. So I assembled everything as shown in the manual and started the system. For some reason it did not detect my SSD. I know there are compatibility lists for mSSD Drives, but I am not planning to use an mSSD since I already have an SSD and the manual shows that both can be used in my case.

I already updated BIOS to the latest version but it still does not detect the SSD. Has anyone an idea what I can do?

Kind regards

Question re dual hard drive support by NUC5i5RYH

Hi all,

I'm confused and need some help clarifinig supportability for having both M.2 and SATA 2.5 inch drives in the NUC5i5RYH.

I didn't buy it yet as I need clarification please.

One the one hand the website say (Mini PC Intel® NUC Kit NUC5i5RYH):

"The system has room for either a 2.5" HDD so you can store full length movies or an M.2 SSD so you can transfer data at lightning speeds."

On the other end I see websites letting you spec it with two hard drives.

What I would like to do with NUC is have a small SSD for OS and large 2TB 2.5 inch (9mm) for storage.

Can anyone please assist with clarifying it?

Smart Connect device not found

Hi. I've setup my new NUC5i5RYH with Windows 8.1. Everything works fine except I cannot install the Intel Smart Connect Technology software. When I try I get the error "Platform Check Failed: Intel(R) Smart Connect device not found in BIOS, or it is not enabled". I'm sure this NUC supports Smart Connect but I cannot find any mention of it in the BIOS, certainly not under power options. I am running the latest BIOS 0137. All the other software and drivers installed okay (I haven't bothered with the Management Engine or Rapid Storage Technology Drivers). Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I use LogMeIn to access client computers.

Replaced many with the Intel NUC.

Find that the LMI Inventory function does not retrieve any data from the NUC.

It works for other non-NUC computers at the same or other locations.

Extra boot menu on Atom NUC DE3815TYKHE

$

Hi,

We are using many of the Atom NUCs for a digital signage installation. We have noticed that on some occasions when the power is cut abruptly to the unit, a different boot menu sometimes appears when power is reconnected.

The menu displays:

TYBYT10H.86A.0041.2014.1224.1255

[ESC] Normal Boot

[F2] Intel Visual BIOS

[F4] BIOS Recovery

[F7] Update BIOS

[F10] Enter Boot Menu

[F12] Network Boot

nuc-bios.jpg

Disconnecting and reconnecting the power causes the unit to boot normally. We are using the built-in 4GB eMMC storage to run a Linux distribution.

Does anyone know how this menu can be skipped so the unit will always boot straight into the OS?

Thanks,

-Jonathan.

Audio and video cables?

Before I dive in and buy, nubee question:

I have a "old" HP w2009 display monitor with a plug for audio and I think it's a DVI plug going to my mid-tower computer that I'll want to use once I have the NUC set up. I know the NUC has a mini-HDMI port and audio plug. Any help for getting the right type of cables to use for audio and video would be appreciated
