Hello to the NUC fans :-)

I bought a NUC7i3BNH (delivered tomorrow :-) ) and now I tried to prepare for installation with all the drivers, software, manuals etc...

When I go to the download area for the NUC7i3BNH there is a list of all downloads... lan driver, gfx, bt etc... and there is a conveniant complete package on top of the download list.

But this link always results in a 404 error

he page you requested
has moved or doesn't exist. (Error 404)

What next? If you typed in the address, double-check your spelling.

If you followed a link, it's probably broken, and we've been notified.

Try finding what you need below:

Does someone have any clue how to get the complete driver package?

I have a 7i3BNH. All drivers appear to be current but there is no 7.1/5.1 output and I don't see any configuration for this in device manager. Under audio/video inputs and outputs my options are Maranzt -AVR(Intel(R) Diplay Audio, Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio SST) and Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio SST.) I was previously using various Minix Android boxes and my Marantz receiver always detected Dolby Digital and DTS coding from them. Any help appreciated.

NUC6CAYH screen turns black for a second

Hi. I`m having issues with a recently buyed NUC6CAYH. The screen will randomly turn completely black for a second or two. (it happend once every 4 or 5 minutes or once every 4 to 5 seconds)

It has windows 10 Pro installed with latest bios (040) and drivers installed.

It is connected via VGA cable to a LCD display (resolution: 1440x900@60Hz).

The things i`ve tried so far:

  • lowering the display resolution to other than the native display stops the flickering or at least makes it less frequent.
  • I had keyboard, mouse and two printers connected to a back USB port through a 2.0 USB hub. removing the USB hub eliminate de flickering (or at least it has not flicker once in about an hour) [Hub works flawlessly in other PCs]
  • Connecting mouse keyboard and two USB hdds makes the flickering happen at least once every 30 minutes.

Thanks in advance and excuse my english.

Do the 7th-gen NUCs support DDC/CI over HDMI on the Thunderbolt 3 port?

I'm interested in picking up an Intel NUC, specifically one of the newest models with Kaby Lake and Thunderbolt 3. My use-case is rather specific though: I need two HDMI display outputs and I need DDC/CI support on both of them (for automated display input switching).

Do the newest NUCs with Thunderbolt 3 support DDC/CI on displays connected to the Thunderbolt 3 port? Specifically, does DDC/CI continue to function in DisplayPort Alt. Mode through a (passive) Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI adapter?

Also, can any recommend a good passive Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI adapter?

Black screen booting new install of 16.04.3 Ubuntu Server on NUC6i7KYK

$

I've just installed Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS (downloaded this morning) onto an Intel NUC6i7KYK. It starts to boot fine but then I suddenly just get a black screen. (connected via HDMI)

If on the GRUB boot menu I choose the recovery mode and then select to resume boot from there (it warns me that some graphics drivers require a full boot and might fail) then I can boot to a prompt ok. Once I did that I did a sudo apt-get update / sudo apt-get upgrade to ensure everything is up to date but I still get the same behaviour.

On the boot screen the last line before I get a black screen (and the monitor goes to sleep as it thinks it has no input) I can see says the following:

switching to inteldrmfb from VESA VGA

So it looks like there is some kind if graphics problem. I've tried searching for a fix but most reports of similar issues seem to indicate this should not be a problem on 16.04 LTS (kernel version 4.4).

I had already upgraded the BIOS to version 00049 which is the latest available for this NUC on Intel's DownloadCentre.

I'd appreciate any pointers on what to try next.

Thanks!

NUC7i7BNH - Simultaneous transcoding and more

Hi, I'm going back here now to get exact performance information from this high-performance machine.

I already own the product but a customer wants to purchase ten units of this model to use them in a kind of personal homecine and before he buys, fundamental to know, directly from Intel, about the issues below, for which I already thank you already.

The client has multimedia collections of movies, serials and concerts and intends to use Emby Server, to share with clients outside the network, that is, remotely, and for that, there are doubts:

1. What is the maximum number of clients that can simultaneously access each NUC unit at the same time. Explaining in more detail, imagine that several, perhaps two hundred clients access the collections at the same time, to watch the multimedia content. Is there a maximum limit for the NUC to support such access?

2. It is common for Emby Server to process video transcoding, according to the device of the external client that is accessing the collections. As an example, a H265 8bit movie, which is a heavy file, depending on the customer's equipment, Emby Serve transcodes so there are no crashes and customers can all watch movies without disturbances.

In these transcodes, does the NUC support processing which client boundary is connected smultaneously, ie at the same time?

The machine I'm suggesting to him is the same machine I passed on to another customer;

Intel NUC7i7BNH, 32GB RAM, SSD M.2 500GB

Thank you very much for the answers, I can not take the risk of passing on to the client something that does not fully comply with it.

Greetings from Brazil

NUC7i3BNH and Samsung UE55KU6400 HDMI problems

$

Hi everyone,

I've recently purchased a NUC7i3BNH and after installing memory and SSD I tried to connect to my Samsung UHD TV model UE55KU6400 and only got a black screen, no intel logo, nothing.

Then I tried to plug to my older Phillips TV and worked fine, installed Windows 10 and then tried to hot swap the cable to back the samsung and voila! Glorious 3840 x 2160 working just fine.

However, if I change source or turn off the TV and try to get back to Windows 10, I get a weird pink screen for a second and then a "No source" message from my Samsung. If i try to reboot the NUC, only blank screen again. The only way to get the screen back to the Samsung, is by doing the hot swap trick with the older phillips.

I'm no expert but I've spent the weekend learning about HDMI handshake issues and have tried updating all the drivers, the DEVCON trick and nothing works apart from hot swap. As that is not a practical solution I would like to ask if anyone can help.

Thanks!

In NUC6i7KYK, Can the GPU passthrough to the guest VM so that the guest VM can output directly on the HDMI port?

How do I configure vGPU for Windows10 VM on ESXi6.5 (NUC6i7KYK) so that I can connect monitor directly to HDMI port rather than remote desk top to access the Windows VM?  I already configured ESXi/PCI passthrough mode for Iris Pro Graphics 580 but still unable to perform vGPU, is there any additional firmware requires? I appreciate some direction to perform this initiative.  Thanks, Ram.

Slow/Choppy Video Playback - NUC6i5SYH (Temperature Issue?)

Hello,

I've recently been having performance issues with my NUC, particularly with video playback.

When I try and play a video file of any type and quality using apps such as VLC media player or Media Player Classic (with K-Lite Codec Pack), the video starts to lag and slow down. I've had my NUC for over a year now, and these problems have only begun recently (within the last 2 months or so). I am wondering if it is due to high ambient temperature or if it is more of a software issue.

I recently refreshed windows 10 and have updated to all of the latest drivers. I've ran a diagnostic test, the results of which can be seen below.

It's been fine up until recently but it just seems generally slow and sluggish now which is disappointing. If it is temperature related - is there anything I can do to help this (e.g. clean fans/ add cooling) or has it gone beyond the point of no return?

INTEL NUCi7 3D MVC ISSUE

Coming from Intel NUC DN2820 I was able to play 3D MVC with Kodi with new Intel Media SDK, I just purchased Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK and 3D playback doesn't work.

On the Intel NUC DN2820, the resolution was set 1920X1080p 3D and everything works great

On the Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK either I set the 1920X1080p 3D or  3820X2160p 3D doesn't work

The Intel Media SDK was supposed to allow 3D MVC to work, I did some testing and found the HDMI 2.0 connection is the one causing the issue and any NUC with HDMI 2.0 doesn't work/

NUC 7i7BNH HDD light always on

Hi there,

I recently got a NUC 717BNH. Cute little machine! Now when I started playing with it, the blue ring around the front panel seemed like an HDD activity LED. I'm... not 100% sure that's what it was but it was acting like one.

The thing is, now it's always on. Even when there's no drive installed. I know this is a bit of a silly thing to be concerned about, but...

I dd update to the latest BIOS (0050) if that matters.

Boot Menu not shows my USB / removable harddisk

$

0

I have a really strange problem.

I have a NUC6i5 with supported hardware from the Intel-List.

M.2 SSD with 128GB and with Windows 7 x64 UEFI-Boot (GPT).

Delivery BIOS: 0051

Updated to: 0061

Normal operations working fine.

But when I will boot from my USB-Stick / Removeable Harddisk with Acronis/other Recovery-SW that is not working.

My USB-Stick are not show correct in the Bootmenu.

All boots are a little bit different.

My 1 Stick: SanDisk Extreme

My 2 Stick: Transcend

My 3 Stick: WesternDigital Harddrive

I put one Stick in the NUC and boot -> F10

I see a new entry (UEFI SanDisk Extreme), but it is not working.

I change the Stick to Transcend in the NUC and boot -> F10

I see a new entry (UEFI SanDisk Extreme), but it is not working. And why it is the same name as my first stick?

I change the Stick to Western Digital (2 Partitions, one bootable) in the NUC and boot -> F10

I see 2 new entry (My WesternDigital),one one from 5 boots this is working... or not.

When I put my WesternDigital AND SanDisk into the NUC and boot -> F10.

I see 3 new entry, My 2 WesternDigital and SanDisk. When I press start from SanDisk, the NUC booted from WesternDigital (I see it with different Recovery SW on it)

When I use the UEFI-Shell, and search the correct fs0-fs4 for my needed stick, that boot with this efi-file it works.

When I make a complete BIOS reset (F9) or BIOS Recovery (with jumper) with a small called CISCO-Stick (128MB)...

Okay, now I think the complete NUC is clean... but when I put my WetsernDigital to boot from (F10) It shows in the BootMenu the entry SanDiskExtreme.

From where comes this name, from a fresh resettet NUC?

But what is resettet... After the jumper BIOS Recovey, the BIOS Settings are the same as before... strange.

How can I really reset all settings on the NUC? Where is the information stored? On the M.2 EFI?!?

And now the best: I have around 30 NUC6i5 and all have the same crazy behavior.

For me it is not 100% reproducible. On one boot Transcend have the name of the WD... On next from SanDisk and so on and so on.

At the Moment I use 3 different USB Stick Vendor, all have the same Acronis Software on it and I put all three in the NUC and hopefully the NUC boots from one of them...

Any idea?

M.2 Key E to SSD

$

Hello,

I bought a NUC6CAYH and installed a normal 2.5" HDD. I want to find out what possibilities do i have to connect a SDD through mPCI-E adapter to the M.2 Key E conenctor. The connector is linked to a USB2, PCI-E 1x lane, I2C, Clink and SDIO. Do you know if it would work with a simple M.2 Key E to mPCI-E adapter, taking into account that it has only one lane? gen.3 mPCI-E speed is bigger than the speed of a SSD, but i think most require minimum 2 lanes.

Or by using a Key-E to Key-M adapter.

Thanks!

P.S. Or what other adapting posibilities would i have to extend storage via the M.2 Key E, or at least a GPU?

Nuc7i3BNH problem with bios 0048

THis is an advice for user and not a question.

From upgrade to bios 0048 i did had problem with kody 17.3 Krypton (My S.O is windows 10  1703) at start of video when kodi sets the right 23, 24  25 50 or other value for video according to material to reproduce. The problem is that system start to reproduce video but only audio is available; do not show the video but the start screen of kody menu page. The same when you stop the video: remain video blocked and there no return to kodi menu page. No command will be esecuted in these moments, the system is quite blocked. Only try to change audio level the system start again to operate.

If you cancel the faetures of kodi of changing video setting according to material to reproduce the problem disappears:
This evening with the new bios update 0049 the problem seems to be solved

I confirm that every update .is a dangerous happening.

NUC is a wonderfull hardware mini PC but bios and driver are a nightmare.

INTEL NUC7I3BNH audio does not work in some TVs

Hi,

I recently got a Intel NUC7i3BNH and installed ubuntu 16.04 on it. Audio over hdmi does not work on Samsung UN46EH5300F TV. However, when I try it on Asus VE247H monitor the audio works all the time. Also audio over headphones or speakers also work all the time. I posted a question to ubuntu forums followign their audio troubleshooting page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure. It includes all the information about my nuc.

I also came across https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26609/HDMI-2-0-Firmware-Update-Tool-for-Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC7i3BN-NUC7i5BN-NUC7i7BN-NUC6CAY and it looks like intel made an firmware update because some nucs were facing some graphics issues for Samsung 6000 series TVs. I think what I am facing is similar. I don't get audio over hdmi for Samusng 5300 series TV.

I have been googling and it looks I am not the only person who is facing this issue. I was wondering if there was any solution to this problem.

Thanks.

Regards,

Dan
