NUC6i5SYK with haswell i5 5250 will not install graphics driver - please help

Hi

I have a problem installing several drivers for some NUC6i5SYK with i5 5250 installed... According to the intel driver update utility there exist graphics drivers for these nuc, but the installations keeps failing. Then I tried manually finding and installing the drivers, but no luck with that either. Then I found the drivers readme which specified that the drivers only worked for nucs with skylake or newer cpus. My question is then: If the recommended drivers for the nuc doesnt work then has anyone found any other suitable drivers?

NUC7I5BNK overheats will not run for more than 3 minutes. Faulty fan?

I received my BOXNUC7I5BNK yesterday. I installed Windows 10 and right after I got to the desktop, it spontaneously shut down. I thought maybe just a weird glitch with the windows install so I turned it back on. It shut down again after that and few more times after that. It won't stay on for more than 3 minutes. I went into the BIOS to see if the fan was on and to my surprise the fan was not even spinning according to the BIOS and I could also confirm that by not feeling or hearing any fan spin. The CPU temps were very high so I'm sure that it is shutting down due to CPU overheating.

I have updated the BIOS to the most recent build and it has not solved the issue. Is it possible I have a faulty fan?

IR receiver not working on NUC7i3BNK after startup

I have two NUC7i3BNK that both have the same issue of the ITECIR Infrared Receiver not being detected after startup. It seems to only happen when the units are started by turning on their HDMI monitor or by pressing the power button on a RC6 IR remote. If I press the power button on the unit to turn it on or select restart in windows the ITECIR Infrared Receiver shows up in device manager and a IR remote works normally. When the IR decides not to work, scanning for new devices in device manager makes no difference and the ITECIR Infrared Receiver does not show up under HID. Both units are running windows 10 and didn't have the issue when initially installed.

NUC7i5 HDMI audio problems with receiver

So, I have 3 generations of NUC's and the new 7th gen seems to have the original problem as the older ones.   I have an onkyo receiver and a panasonic TV.

If the NUC wakes from sleep without the receiver on (and set to that HDMI input), the audio on the NUC going forward will not work until you reboot the system.  There is no way to "reactivate" the receiver as the speaker.

This has been a problem with the older generation NUC's and drivers seems to have fixed most of it.  Ideally, the audio driver should re-establish the audio link on each wake (instead of just reboot).  It negotiates the video fine via HDMI, but the audio is broken

Please fix!!!  I have the latest driver, bios, etc...all installed

Hello to the NUC fans :-)

I bought a NUC7i3BNH (delivered tomorrow :-) ) and now I tried to prepare for installation with all the drivers, software, manuals etc...

When I go to the download area for the NUC7i3BNH there is a list of all downloads... lan driver, gfx, bt etc... and there is a conveniant complete package on top of the download list.

But this link always results in a 404 error

The page you requested
has moved or doesn't exist. (Error 404)

What next? If you typed in the address, double-check your spelling.

If you followed a link, it's probably broken, and we've been notified.

Try finding what you need below:

Does someone have any clue how to get the complete driver package?

NUC 7i7BNH HDD light always on

Hi there,

I recently got a NUC 717BNH. Cute little machine! Now when I started playing with it, the blue ring around the front panel seemed like an HDD activity LED. I'm... not 100% sure that's what it was but it was acting like one.

The thing is, now it's always on. Even when there's no drive installed. I know this is a bit of a silly thing to be concerned about, but...

I dd update to the latest BIOS (0050) if that matters.

Secure Boot with Custom Platform Key

I am trying to lock down my NUC with secure boot that will only load a kernel signed by my own keys. Outside of signing the kernal and the bootloader, I am struggling with the NUC BIOS.

I am able to load KeyTool in the efi shell and load the KEK and DB keys but am unable to load the PK. ( Failed to update variable: (26) Security Violation)

Has anyone had any luck saving their own private Platform Key to the bios ?

I don't need to use KeyTool if there is another way to do this.

Thanks!

INTEL NUC7I3BNH audio does not work in some TVs

Hi,

I recently got a Intel NUC7i3BNH and installed ubuntu 16.04 on it. Audio over hdmi does not work on Samsung UN46EH5300F TV. However, when I try it on Asus VE247H monitor the audio works all the time. Also audio over headphones or speakers also work all the time. I posted a question to ubuntu forums followign their audio troubleshooting page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure. It includes all the information about my nuc.

I also came across https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26609/HDMI-2-0-Firmware-Update-Tool-for-Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC7i3BN-NUC7i5BN-NUC7i7BN-NUC6CAY and it looks like intel made an firmware update because some nucs were facing some graphics issues for Samsung 6000 series TVs. I think what I am facing is similar. I don't get audio over hdmi for Samusng 5300 series TV.

I have been googling and it looks I am not the only person who is facing this issue. I was wondering if there was any solution to this problem.

Thanks.

Display blanks out for 2-3 seconds since installing BIOS 0048 - NUC7i5BNH

$

My NUC7i5BNH has worked perfectly for 3+ months until the last week when the main display blanks out for 2-3 seconds multiple times an hour (depending on what I am doing). I have all the latest drivers All latest drivers as of 6/15/2017 and and believe the issue only started when I upgraded to BIOS 0048 in the last few days.

I run 2 monitors:

Dell U3415W (3440x1440@60p Hz) running on the thunderbolt connector

Dell U2717D (2560x1440@60 Hz) running on the HDMI connector

Only the Dell U3415W monitor blanks out, however the audio playing through the monitor speakers continues working fine even when the screen is blank.

I can't be absolutely certain that it happened as a result of 0048 but I can say that I haven't updated any other drivers on my NUC since mid June when the last Intel HD Graphics Driver (4678) came out.

I've seen other threads with issues that seem similar but those people are using 4K TVs/Monitors.

Intel SSU (System Support Utility) output attached

Please can Intel provide an update on this issue and what the fix is.

EDIT 8/7 - just in case others are reading this post and don't scroll through the thread I am adding the following:

  • Having done a clean reinstall of windows and latest drivers I still had the same issue with the DellU3415W blanking out for 2-3 seconds
  • Having done another clean reinstall but using graphics driver GFX_WIN10_64_15.45.18.4664 (i.e. an earlier version) then the issue has not returned
  • The issue may therefore be graphics driver related

thanks

NUC6CAYH screen turns black for a second

Hi. I`m having issues with a recently buyed NUC6CAYH. The screen will randomly turn completely black for a second or two. (it happend once every 4 or 5 minutes or once every 4 to 5 seconds)

It has windows 10 Pro installed with latest bios (040) and drivers installed.

It is connected via VGA cable to a LCD display (resolution: 1440x900@60Hz).

The things i`ve tried so far:

  • lowering the display resolution to other than the native display stops the flickering or at least makes it less frequent.
  • I had keyboard, mouse and two printers connected to a back USB port through a 2.0 USB hub. removing the USB hub eliminate de flickering (or at least it has not flicker once in about an hour) [Hub works flawlessly in other PCs]
  • Connecting mouse keyboard and two USB hdds makes the flickering happen at least once every 30 minutes.

Thanks in advance and excuse my english.

M.2 Key E to SSD

Hello,

I bought a NUC6CAYH and installed a normal 2.5" HDD. I want to find out what possibilities do i have to connect a SDD through mPCI-E adapter to the M.2 Key E conenctor. The connector is linked to a USB2, PCI-E 1x lane, I2C, Clink and SDIO. Do you know if it would work with a simple M.2 Key E to mPCI-E adapter, taking into account that it has only one lane? gen.3 mPCI-E speed is bigger than the speed of a SSD, but i think most require minimum 2 lanes.

Or by using a Key-E to Key-M adapter.

Thanks!

P.S. Or what other adapting posibilities would i have to extend storage via the M.2 Key E, or at least a GPU?

NUC6i7KYK HDMI audio glitch

$

I have a very strange audio issue that I'd like advice on.

I recently replaced my NUC DC3217BY with the NUC6i7KYK. The computer sits under my TV for media playback, video calling, and gaming.

My TV is a Panasonic plasma from 2008 with Full HD resolution. The surround amp is a Marantz NR1601 (HDMI1.4a) with 7.1 surround.

Windows is set up to output 7.1 with 24-bit audio @ 96kHz. This setting is common between the two NUCs.

For media, I stream YouTube or Netflix, play video files using VLC, and play DVDs/Blu-Rays using WinDVDPro.

With my DC3217BY I used WinDVDPro11, on the NUC6i7KYK I use WinDVDPro12. The drive is a Pioneer BDR-XU03 connected to one of the rear USB3.0 ports of the NUC.

The DC3217BY setup was flawless. It is only nearly flawless with the NUC6i7KYK.

I can play everything, but when I open WinDVDPro12 to play a DVD or  Blu-Ray, I notice the PCM indicator on my amp blinks off for about half a second every 10-20 seconds with an accompanying break in audio from the speakers. There is no issue with the video playback at all.

If I close WinDVDPro, the audio glitch continues on the same cadence regardless of what programs I open or what media I play.

The only way to get it to stop is either to put the computer into and out of standby or select a different audio playback device from the Windows 10 volume dialogue and then switch back to HDMI.

While WinDVDPro is open, if I change audio output to the headset jack or my Bluetooth headphones, there is no glitching on those outputs. When I revert to HDMI, the glitching resumes.

I have downloaded the Intel Driver Update Utility. However, when it scans my computer it keeps throwing up the same software and drivers as out-of-date. Attempts to install recommended versions fail. The graphics driver and the audio driver, however, are up-to-date. The chipset, Thunderbolt and a couple of others (including CIR) are flagged as wrong (I am not using the Thunderbolt port yet, the CIR seems to work without issue).

I have tried to run the HDMI v2.0 firmware update, but it will not install until I connect a HDMI v2.0 compliant device, which I do not have.

I don't believe I can blame WinDVDPro for the glitching as all it has to do is decode the audio and video from any disc that is playing, which it does correctly with all my other audio devices and there is no issue with the video at any point.

The fact that the issue starts when WinDVDPro starts is suspicious, but closing WinDVDPro does not fix it (I have to adjust audio output or put the computer to sleep).

The HDMI cables are all 1.4 high-speed and are 3' or 4' in length, so signal distortion does not seem likely (and anyway, audio is fine with every program except WinDVDPro).

My Marantz receiver is compatible with the audio settings I have.

Are there any known incompatibilities with HDMI audio that I can investigate?

Why doesn't the driver update utility work correctly to update all the drivers it says are outdated?

I have tried altering the settings for audio in Windows, but no sample rate or dynamic range bit-depth has any different effect. I have tried changing the way WinDVDPro works with audio from the DVD/Blu-Ray discs, but again no change.

Display sync issues

$

Hi guys,

I'm experiencing the following issues with my new NUC Skull NUC6i7KYK I bought a few days ago:

  1. If display is configured to switch off automatically, it doesn't turn on back again until I power my TV off / on or reconnect HDMI cable.
  2. Periodically (not always) there is a bit of a text blurring and slight mouse lag (like a bit of inertia) occurring when I switch between Windows profiles. I discovered that when I change some of the driver settings like sync rate for example, it comes back to normal and works perfectly until next time. It is strange as it doesn't happen all the time and seems like a sync issue between video card and the TV. I never experienced these issues in the past though I had two different PCs connected to the same TV.

My configuration:

  • OS: Windows 10 Pro
  • Driver: Intel HD Graphics driver 15.46.02.4729
  • TV: Sony Bravia KD-55X8505B (connected via HDMI)
  • BIOS: Latest KYSKLi70.86A 0049

Thank you.
