I have two NUC7i3BNK that both have the same issue of the ITECIR Infrared Receiver not being detected after startup. It seems to only happen when the units are started by turning on their HDMI monitor or by pressing the power button on a RC6 IR remote. If I press the power button on the unit to turn it on or select restart in windows the ITECIR Infrared Receiver shows up in device manager and a IR remote works normally. When the IR decides not to work, scanning for new devices in device manager makes no difference and the ITECIR Infrared Receiver does not show up under HID. Both units are running windows 10 and didn't have the issue when initially installed.

Secure Boot with Custom Platform Key
I am trying to lock down my NUC with secure boot that will only load a kernel signed by my own keys. Outside of signing the kernal and the bootloader, I am struggling with the NUC BIOS.
I am able to load KeyTool in the efi shell and load the KEK and DB keys but am unable to load the PK. ( Failed to update variable: (26) Security Violation)
Has anyone had any luck saving their own private Platform Key to the bios ?
I don't need to use KeyTool if there is another way to do this.
Thanks!
INTEL NUCi7 3D MVC ISSUE
Coming from Intel NUC DN2820 I was able to play 3D MVC with Kodi with new Intel Media SDK, I just purchased Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK and 3D playback doesn't work.
On the Intel NUC DN2820, the resolution was set 1920X1080p 3D and everything works great
On the Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK either I set the 1920X1080p 3D or 3820X2160p 3D doesn't work
The Intel Media SDK was supposed to allow 3D MVC to work, I did some testing and found the HDMI 2.0 connection is the one causing the issue and any NUC with HDMI 2.0 doesn't work/
RE2: NUC6i7KYK HDMI sleep issues
I've followed the two other topics related to this and tried the suggestions, but I still have issues with HDMI.
I've updated the BIOS and HDMI firmware, reset the BIOS to default settings, uninstalled and reloaded the latest graphics and audio drivers.
Ultimately, I've isolated one issue:
If Windows 10 is allowed to "sleep" the display, then the HDMI video feed never seems to recover.
One time I disconnected and reconnected the HDMI cable and got a bunch of really small artifacts on a mostly black screen.
I can workaround this issue by turning display sleep off, since I turn my TV off when I'm not using it anyway.
The audio issue is another entirely, that may or may not be related to sleep.
It's true that if the NUC goes to sleep, the audio will not recover.
However, I've also extended my "sleep" timer to 3 hours and come back after turning the TV off for a while (without the NUC ever going to sleep) and the audio still stopped working.
I've never had any such issues with my old Mac mini that was connected to the TV via HDMI.
I've also seen suggestions that AnyNet+ might be causing part of the issues, but disabling it didn't seem to help at all.
DDR4 @2133 vs @2400Mhz for NUC7I3BNH ?
I read in the Specs of Intel® NUC Kit NUC7i3BNH that its Memory Type clock is @2133MHz
But would it still support other Types ? like @2400, or other frequencies.
If yes, (how) does it impact the performance ?
Thanks

NUC7i5BNH Resume from S3 not working properly
NUC7i5BNH with latest bios 0046 running Windows 10 Professional fully patched with Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver device in either of the front USB ports. Consumer IR Device enabled in the bios, also wake on IR checked for both S3 and S4/S5 states in the bios:
1. Power toggle button on Harmony 200 remote puts NUC to sleep.
2. Hitting power toggle button again repeatedly shortly after putting the NUC to sleep wakes the NUC again.
3. Waiting any length of time after putting the NUC to sleep then pressing the power toggle button repeatedly fails to wake the NUC again.
Mouse or keyboard can always wake the NUC from sleep after any length of time.
The same USB eHome Infrared Transceiver device and harmony 200 combination is used successfully to sleep and wake both a NUC D54250WYK and NUC NUC6I5SYH.

Unable to get multichannel audio
I have a 7i3BNH. All drivers appear to be current but there is no 7.1/5.1 output and I don't see any configuration for this in device manager. Under audio/video inputs and outputs my options are Maranzt -AVR(Intel(R) Diplay Audio, Microphone (Realtek High Definition Audio SST) and Stereo Mix (Realtek High Definition Audio SST.) I was previously using various Minix Android boxes and my Marantz receiver always detected Dolby Digital and DTS coding from them. Any help appreciated.

DisplayPort Audio Issue on NUC7i5BNH
I've got a Dell P2415Q connected to an NUC7i5BNH via DisplayPort.
The speakers is then connected to the 3.5mm jack on the back of the monitor.
Everything is fine if I set the resolution to 4k@30hz or anything lower than this.
But the first bits of any audio is almost always dropped when the display resolution is set to the maximum 4k@60hz.
This is not much a problem if I'm watching a film or something but it's really irritating when half of a notification sound is chopped off.
If I connect the 3.5mm jack to the Realtek sound card on the front of the NUC there is no audio drop instead I get the electrical noise problem described by other people.
BIOS update for NUC7i5BNH causes fan speed settings to be ignored
I have a new NUC7i5BNH and I noticed that the fan ran at constant speed. I found the Cooling page in the BIOS and set it to Quiet - this allowed the fan to slow down and stop when the CPU was not loaded.
I then updated the BIOS - the previous one had a March date, the new one July. With the new BIOS, the fan runs at a constant 3700RPM no matter what I set for the fan mode. I see several other threads reporting the same problem (but was asked to start a new thread). Given that it worked before the BIOS update, it is evidently not a hardware problem and is instead a bug introduced into the BIOS. How can this be escalated to the proper team to fix it?
Video distortions on scrolling in browsers
Have Linux Stretch installed on an NUC6CAYH. (Openbox WM). A nice match of OS and machine in many ways, but there are some noticeable visual distortions when scrolling in web browsers, kind of like ripples on a pond.
I know there has been updates for Windows graphics, but would like to know how to install graphic updates for Linux. Stretch is using Kernel 4.9. I tried installing DMC firmware 1.07 but this was not any help. The unit was manufactured in May 2017.
Grateful for any help here.

NUC6CAYH Wifi problem
Hi
Have Debian 9 installed on an NUC6CAYH and having one or two problems that is keeping things from being perfect. This one seems simple and I hope someone will make me feel like a fool with something I am just not seeing, but I am not able to get Wifi working on this unit. I have WICD installed which shows no wifi connections. Rfkill shows nothing switched off. I have installed the iwlwifi firmware and noticed the iwlwifi-3168-22.ucode file in the /lib/firmware directory. Not sure where to go from here. Please enlighten...

My NUC isn't waking up
Hello all,
After working on building up my NUC, thinking I'm going to have a sweet running computer for years and years, I'm wondering now if I'm still going to be using this computer! This is currently working into being a pain. The computer doesn't want to wake up after being idle for 10 minutes or more. I have to hit the power button on monitor two or three times to wake the computer up! It looks like something is starting to happen when I wake the computer up with mouse movement, but the process never finishes. The closest I get is "Cable Disconnected". This has nothing to do with the OS, (Win 10 Pro) as I was getting the same problem when using multiple Linux OSs too. This has to do with BIOS or the hardware and firmware before the OS.
Any suggestions how to remedy this?

NUC7ixBN Screen Flashing/Flickering when using 4K resolutions
Hi all,
We are aware of this issue and a bug was opened a couple weeks ago. The developers/engineers are working on finding a solution and I will post any updates and/or solutions here.
Thank you for your patience.
NUC6CAYH screen turns black for a second
Hi. I`m having issues with a recently buyed NUC6CAYH. The screen will randomly turn completely black for a second or two. (it happend once every 4 or 5 minutes or once every 4 to 5 seconds)
It has windows 10 Pro installed with latest bios (040) and drivers installed.
It is connected via VGA cable to a LCD display (resolution: 1440x900@60Hz).
The things i`ve tried so far:
- lowering the display resolution to other than the native display stops the flickering or at least makes it less frequent.
- I had keyboard, mouse and two printers connected to a back USB port through a 2.0 USB hub. removing the USB hub eliminate de flickering (or at least it has not flicker once in about an hour) [Hub works flawlessly in other PCs]
- Connecting mouse keyboard and two USB hdds makes the flickering happen at least once every 30 minutes.
Thanks in advance and excuse my english.
Intel NUC 6i5SYK doesn't start
Hello.
I have big trouble with my NUC. It doesn't start, like no power supply connected. My NUC work fine for a long time. I turn it off correctly via Windows shutdown, and then i cant turn it on. I tried couple times to turn it on, but no effect.
Strange thing - i put off bottom cover and remove some dust, and once it turn on correctly, but then i turn it off via Windows and it doesn't start again.
So power supply is ok, what else could be wrong?
Skull Canyon NUC Random Reboots
Hi all,
I've read some past forum posts about this and was wondering if anyone has any other advice. My NUC6i7KYK reboots randomly, sometimes just a few minutes after booting. Other times it is rock stable and never crashes. I have used this machine for months without this problem happening at all, and suddenly it's happening about every day. The strange thing is, it reboots when I'm doing pretty low load tasks like browsing web pages. I was playing Cities skylines at 4K, the machine was blazing hot and fans spinning super fast and it was stable. So it doesn't seem like a heat or load issue.
Specs are: 32gb Patriot 2133 CL14 (2x16gb sodimms), Samsung 950 PRO M.2, steelseries keyboard and mouse plugged into a Startech USB hub which is plugged into the NUC. Using WiFi but no BT at time of reboots. I have an eGPU but started experiencing this issue before I had it. The eGPU was not on at the time of the reboot. Nothing in the NUC is overclocked.
There are no blue screens, nothing in my error logs. When the NUC reboots it goes to an unsuccessful POST message.
This seems to have started since the Creators update of Win 10 but not sure if that's just a coincidence.
To date, my troubleshooting steps have been: update to latest BIOS, reset BIOS to defaults, remove and reseat RAM, try different RAM, reformatted and reinstalled Windows. Nothing has helped.
EDIT: Additionally, I had 2 strange occurrences during reboots. Once after the unsuccessful POST message, it booted to what appeared to be a Windows recovery screen but it was just a blank blue background. The very strange this is that when I typed anything on my keyboard, the screen would flicker. Another time after the unsuccessful POST, it rebooted to a recovery screen asking for my BitLocker key. I put it in but then it said my Windows installation was damaged and it couldn't boot. I just power cycled the NUC and it booted fine.
Is exchanging the NUC the only thing I can do at this point? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
NUC6CAYH screen flickers /turns black
Hi!
I'm having some issues with my brand new NUC6CAYH: The screen will randomly turn completely black for a few seconds.
This happens almost every minute. The NUC is hooked up to a display via VGA (resolution: 1920x1080@60 Hz). I'm not experiencing the same issue when I'm using an HDMI display (different resolution and refresh rate).
I have Windows 10 installed with the latest updates. The BIOS version is AYAPLCEL.86A and I applied this HDMI firmware update: Download HDMI 2.0 Firmware Update Tool for Intel® NUC Kit NUC7i3BN, NUC7i5BN, NUC7i7BN, NUC6CAY .
I have also installed the latest graphics drivers (15.46.2.4729) but I got the same problems with the previous drivers.
Any workarounds? Thanks in advance!
