NUC7i7BNH screen does not wake up from sleep

I am having issues with my NUC7i7BNH where the screen most of the times is not coming back out of sleep mode (sometimes it does work as how it should be).

The keyboard seems still to be responsive (numlock light is still going on and off), but the monitor does not come back. I installed the latest version (4678) of the Intel Graphic drivers and all other drivers are the latest as well.

I am running Windows 10 Pro version 1703. I have seen that there are quite some users of the NUC7i7BNH that reports on crashes of their NUC. Maybe mine issue is the same, but I don't know. The only thing I can think of is long pressing the power button to restart the NUC, but I think the NUC is not crashed, but I can't tell for sure as the screen remains blank.

One other thing that I find particular is that the Intel Driver Update Utility (V2.8.0.7) shows an unknown version number for the following two drivers:

- Thunderbolt Bus Driver for Intel NUC Kit NUC7i5BN and NUC7i7BN

- Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 10 for Intel NUC7i3BN, NUC7i5BN and NUC7i7BN

Hope someone can inform me what I can do to resolve the issue that my screen does not come back when in sleep.

Anyone else have issues with HDMI signal dropouts? I am losing connection every now and then. I have to remove the cable and then plug it back in. Sometime blowing into the port helps. Weird I know.

Damn annoying.

Cannot install Ubuntu on NUC6CAYH (very slow installation gui)

Trying to install Ubuntu on a Intel NUC NUC6CAYH.

Flashed Ubuntu 16.04 (http://people.canonical.com/~platform/snappy/nuc/ubuntu-server-16.04.1-20160817-0.iso ) to an USB drive.

Grub loader appears after start, can choose "Install Ubuntu" - after about 5 minutes the language list appears. Navigating up and down the language list is very slow (it takes about 5 to 10 seconds to select the next entry in the list). After pressing ENTER it takes another 10 seconds to show up the next window.

After several minutes I can choose the keyboard layout, but after the detecting hardware part, nothing else appears.

Any suggestions?

Question about the Intel Serial IO Driver

What is the use of  Intel Serial IO Driver on NUC 6i5 ?

Is there any pin on the NUC mainboard, assigned to the driver of Serial IO UART Host Controller and Serial IO GPIO Host Controller?

Is the any possible to connect Intel NUC and Intel Edison via the Serial IO Driver?

Can I get a demo program (e.g. C# ) to show the usage?

Thanks a lot.

Hi.

I purchased a nuc7i3, I must use this Ubuntu operating system as it is the most compatible with my robotic system, which utilizes ROS Indigo.  I have searched far and wide for a work around to get wifi access.  It seems that the card is not recognized by the OS.  I couldn't find any ubuntu or linux drivers, everything looks to be windows.  Customer support seems to be lacking.  Thanks.

NUC6CAYH screen turns black for a second

Hi. I`m having issues with a recently buyed NUC6CAYH. The screen will randomly turn completely black for a second or two. (it happend once every 4 or 5 minutes or once every 4 to 5 seconds)

It has windows 10 Pro installed with latest bios (040) and drivers installed.

It is connected via VGA cable to a LCD display (resolution: 1440x900@60Hz).

The things i`ve tried so far:

  • lowering the display resolution to other than the native display stops the flickering or at least makes it less frequent.
  • I had keyboard, mouse and two printers connected to a back USB port through a 2.0 USB hub. removing the USB hub eliminate de flickering (or at least it has not flicker once in about an hour) [Hub works flawlessly in other PCs]
  • Connecting mouse keyboard and two USB hdds makes the flickering happen at least once every 30 minutes.

Thanks in advance and excuse my english.

a booteable device has not been detected

Graphics issues with NUC7I7BNH

I have the NUC7I7BNH running:

  • Windows 10 Home (64 bit),
  • Kingston HyperX Impact 2x16GB  2133 MhZ DDR4 RAM
  • Samsung 960 EVO 250GB M.2 SSD
  • Connected via HDMI to LG 27UD69P-W 27" monitor

Two primary issues:

  1. When the monitor goes to sleep, I can't wake it back up without turning off the computer.  This seems to be an issue with the Intel GPU?  I've seen this issue on many forums with no real answer.  This alone is incredibly disappointing and if I hadn't bought all of these components to go along with my machine I'd be returning it unless I can find a solution that allows my monitor to sleep and wake up properly.
  2. When running google chrome, and going to google maps, the computer sounds like it is a jet engine taking off and starts going extremely slowly.  This problem does not exist with MS Edge, only in Chrome.  Not sure what could be causing this?

Thank you!

NUC7i5 HDMI audio problems with receiver

So, I have 3 generations of NUC's and the new 7th gen seems to have the original problem as the older ones.   I have an onkyo receiver and a panasonic TV.

If the NUC wakes from sleep without the receiver on (and set to that HDMI input), the audio on the NUC going forward will not work until you reboot the system.  There is no way to "reactivate" the receiver as the speaker.

This has been a problem with the older generation NUC's and drivers seems to have fixed most of it.  Ideally, the audio driver should re-establish the audio link on each wake (instead of just reboot).  It negotiates the video fine via HDMI, but the audio is broken

Please fix!!!  I have the latest driver, bios, etc...all installed

Blue Screens with Optane

Have a new Nuc7I5BNH with HDD + Optane installed.  Windows 10 x64 (1703 build).  Fully patched and updated intel drivers.  I used the Optane only software, not the RST since there is no RAID required in this setup.  Intel Optane Memory 15.7.0.1014

The BIOS and OS are configured for "performance" mode with sleep disabled.  Hyper-V is enabled.

After a few days, I noticed the system unresponsive when I returned to it, with only a black screen.  The mouse would track and I could remotely ping the box; RDP would succeed enough to prompt for credentials but the connection would not complete.  Power cycle is only solution -- Text appears during the bios portion of boot indicating the system didn't shut down properly and it is handling it; it then begins the boot but returns to a black screen. This time waiting will eventually allow to complete the boot and everything is OK.

This has happened three times this week.  Then while I was on the system I caught a blue screen - categorized as MEMORY_MODULE.  Ran a diag on the DRAM which comes up clean, so it isn't that.

I´ve a nuc7i5BNK. I installed the latest graphic drivers and the HDMI Patch. But there is still no HD sound. For more information I attach  my SSU-file. My NUC is connected over a Denon Reiceiver to a Samsung UHD TV via hdmi. I hope you can help me.

NUC7i3BNK M.2 logical device interfaces and command sets supports list

Hello!

Somebody can prompt, NUC7i3BNK's M.2  does supports Legasy SATA and PCI Express using NVMe  logical device interfaces and command sets simultaneous?

In specification indicate that, it's have

Total # of SATA Ports     2

Max # of SATA 6.0 Gb/s Ports     2

If to assume that one of SATA sockets, is additional and the second M.2, it means supports?

Quite good it would be obvious to specify in the specification - Support of the protocol M.2: Legasy SATA/PCI Express using AHCI/PCI Express using NVMe

Can't install official Graphics Driver for NUC7i5BNK

Hi,

I just bought a new NUC7i5BNK. I downloaded all drivers and BIOS update from:

Downloads for Intel® NUC Kit NUC7i5BNK

I was able to install all drivers except one: The official graphics driver! If I try to install them, I got the message, that those drivers can't be installed, because they were not validated for my PC. I then also tried an older version:

Download Intel® HD Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 for Intel® NUC Kit NUC7i3BN, NUC7i5BN, and NUC7i7BN

But I got the same message.

So, what's the problem? I do have a original NUC7i5BNK and those drivers are from the official Intel Website and on the website it says they are valid for my NUC.

Sascha

NUC7I3BNK not powering up and power button blinking orange

$

Ok, here's a cool story. I assemble a NUC using compatible RAM and SSD. I then power it on and try to familiarize myself with its BIOS setup when it suddenly shuts down. "Ok..." says I and pretend nothing happened. But, just to be on the safe side (ha-ha), I decide to update the BIOS. And I did so—successfully. Or so i thought. As the updating finished, computer attempted to reboot but appeared to be stuck with orange light flashing (...i think) So I, growing impatient, wisely remove power plug from the outlet, plug it back in, power the computer up and enter BIOS setup checking out it's version. To my surprise the BIOS seems to be updated to the latest version. "Well that was easy" is what I've been thinking when NUC shuts down again. Little did i know i would never manage to power it up again. Since then, whenever I plug it in, unit's power button rapidly blinks in orange. No amount of holding it, pressing it or else does anything. It just keeps blinking. Indefinitely.

So, what I've tried: moving RAM to the other slot, removing it, removing SSD, removing security jumper, removing CMOS battery wires from the connector and waiting, plugging in USB with recovery BIOS, plugging in headphones in order to hear something, ANYTHING. Nothing...

What I'd like to know: is the unit bricked for good or is there still hope left?

Last time i edit. I swear.

NUC7i5BNB thermal throttling in passive case?

$

Hello,

I've just finished installing our first NUC7i5BNB board into Akasa Newton S7 passively cooled case. The unit is functioning very nicely apart from the fact under continuous heavy load it seems to enter thermal throttling although CPU temperatures are still well within limits. For testing purposes I have otherwise identical NUC7i5BNH Kit with the same bios and drivers. I'm using Prime95 for load generation and CPUID HWMonitor for monitoring system load, temperatures and power usage. When under 100% load the temperatures on the NUC7i5BNB+Akasa combo are almost identical to the ones of NUC7i5BNH Kit; CPU package temp is ~80-84C while the case itself is ~53C. But the NUC7i5BNH throttles by lowering frequency (3,4GHz -> 2,2GHz) and power (25W -> 14W) while NUC7i5BNH does not.

I've found this thread: Re: NUC6i5SYK with Akasa Fanless case which references:

"The Technical Product specification for the NUC Board states:

“A chassis with a maximum internal ambient temperature of 50°C at the processor fan inlet is recommended.  If the internal ambient temperature exceeds 50°C, further thermal testing is required to ensure components do not exceed their maximum case temperature.”

Could someone confirm that the 50C ambient temperature is the critical level also for NUC7i5BNB to start throttling? It at least seems so.

Best regards,

Henri / TeraStore
