NUC6CAYH no HDMI Sound

Hi

I have an NUC6CAYH connected to a Philips TV. When connect RPI3 or Ipad air to The HDMI interface Everything is working ok.

When I connect The NUC  Libreelec X64 there is no sound. I have updated to bios 0041 but can't find any info if it contains 1.66 as for windows.

i'm now finished with all try outs and don't have any ideas more. Is it at all possible to connect such a device to a TV? If the answer is to supply a log, my answer is that i'm a user not a developer. If i'm the only user with such problem, the NUC will end in the trash can.

In the mean time I have tryed do downgrade BIOS but without any succés.

I have now also connected NUC 3050 on the same HDMI port on my TV and everything is ok. I Think I have now proved that NUC6CAYH has problem with HDMI sound,at least with Bios 0041.

Kind regards

Intel NUC DN2820FYK needs to be started twice every time and it's impossible to boot from USB or update BIOS

Hi, I was having some problems with my NUC starting from USB and decided to try another firmware. I installed the 0021 BIOS Download BIOS Update [FYBYT10H.86A] and now the problem is way worse.

Since I installed this BIOS I'm having problems with my OS (Solus, a Linux distribution). For starters, when I shutdown the PC it doesn't really shutdown most of the time (well, it does, but the NUC fan keeps working). And video reproduction is now choppy, which is the whole purpose of this PC.

The biggest problem though is that I can't update the BIOS any more, or install another OS. Because every time I select the boot from USB option, the NUC restarts but it doesn't show anything on the TV (or monitor). If I want the NUC to really start I need to remove the power cord and start it again.

I already tried resetting the BIOS settings, recovering the BIOS by the power button menu (F4), recovering the BIOS by removing the security jumper, but nothing works. It's so frustrating.

Someone help me please. Thank you.

Intel not responding and/or acting on issues with Intel NUC's!

Why is Intel completely ignoring the massive amount of customers who have issues with their NUC's (like flickering, black screens and so on).
The problems started over 3 months ago! And still nothing has been fixed by Intel. The lack of support and updates is abysmal.

It's really a disgrace that a company, as big as Intel, isn't trying to fix this as soon as possible. We are 3 months further and nothing has been resolved.

I am starting to think, because the lack of updates, that Intel isn't able to fix this, as it's a hardware flaw which most probably introduced by some changes to the BIOS.
After that everything went downhill (just like support).

I am also very, very disappointed in cvare (apparrently he is in Intel's support team or a moderator). Last time he logged in was on the 16th of September according to his profile.

Apparently he doesn't care anymore if there are any issues anymore with the Intel NUC. That or he went on a vacation. Or maybe he got fired. I have no clue.

I do know one thing; my Intel NUC is still not working as advertised. I already asked for a RMA with Amazon and let them exchange it for a new one.

Hopefully it has an older BIOS version, so I can test it to see if that is the problem, because in it's current condition my Intel NUC is nothing more than an expensive paperweight.

Also returning the Intel NUC completely and look for something else is not a real option.

Because I also purchased a HDD, M.2 SSD, RAM and several cables and connectors (for testing to see if it was the cable and/or connectors) all of which I cannot return for a refund.

Here is the Youtube movie I posted several days ago, because cvare doubted if I tried the new graphic driver: intel nuc flickering / black screen - YouTube
As you can see, this is not normal behaviour for an Intel NUC. I can now only use the standard Microsoft Display Driver. However using this driver causes several issues (for example: no hardware accelaration).

I will also create a support ticket and urge them to fix these issues as soon as possible, because 3 months is way, way to much. I think this post will get deleted (or locked), because Intel probably doesn't allow freedom of speech.

So I hope most of you will get a chance to read this.

Hi all,

We are aware of this issue and a bug was opened a couple weeks ago.  The developers/engineers are working on finding a solution and I will post any updates and/or solutions here.

Thank you for your patience.

NUC6i5SYH - USB device does not work

I believe that the NUC has some bug in the USB area, as I previously created another topic on the NUC not recognizing a standard MCE remote control, which contains a USB extender, when it is recognized by another Zotac minipc, using the same operating system Windows 10 64 bit Pro.

Now, I've encountered a similar problem. After working perfectly on the Zotac minipc, I tried to use a wireless micro-keyboard and the NUC does not recognize either.

First I tried to get the NUC to recognize the micro-keyboard without using the USB adapter and did not succeed.

Now, using the USB adapter, the same problem, the NUC does not recognize, and in Zotac, just stick the adapter, within 2 seconds is recognized.

I leave the image removed from the Zotac minipc, which displays the micro keyboard enabled.

I would support this question. Thank you.

Skull Canyon (NUC6i7KYK) can't do >2 channel audio via HDMI?????

Specs: Win10x64 (build ~Jul.1/'17, fully patched), Drivers all patched up, HDMI->TV->SoundBar (via ARC)

So. ... Why does my sound-settings limit me to 2-channel only? Everything seems legit but it just won't offer higher than 1995 sound quality. It's really ticking me off. Same setup next to the NUC from Xbox One and my SoundBar shows DTS. From NUC, 2-channel. BAH!!!

I've tried:

- uninstalling display driver, reboot, reinstall

- patching HDMI Firmware to February's release

- different cables (all are HDMI2.0 compliant)

- different ports on TV (my TV has a bunch of 30hz ports, and one 60hz)

Has anyone else dealt with this and found a resolution?

NUC6i5SYH - Remote Control does not work

Hello everyone,

I come back here, now to try to solve a problem found in my NUC.

I have a standard MCE remote control with a USB extender that works perfect with a Zotac Nano minipc, but I can't get it to work with NUC, using or not the extender.

I would like guidance on how to enable the feature.

I'm using BIOS 057. Will it be necessary to install some program in Windows 10 so that the remote control is activated?

Thank you.

A strange TV/NUC combination.

NUC6CAYH Libreelec installed.   TV is Panasonic TX-50DX700B.   I find that I can navigate around many of Libreelec's menu's using the TV remote. If I turn the TV off it puts the NUC into standby. Turn the TV back on and the NUC stays asleep. Have the NUC turned on, turn the TV off at the wall socket, hit the power button on the TV remote and the NUC goes into standby proving it is an IR clash and not some weird HDMI thing happening. Go into the NUC's  BIOS and disable the CIR and it is unaffected by the TV remote.

I've posted this just to save anybody else with the same set up tearing their hair out wondering what's going on. It's fun altering the TV's volume and watching the NUC's volume change at the same time.

NUC6i5SYH - BIOS not supported ?

When I bought my NUC, I made the update to version 057 and everything went well, using the Express method, very simple, fast and easy.

So, in my NUC I had the BIOS 057 and today I did the update again to version 062 and everything went well again, (image1) but after completing the update, the NUC reset and displayed the message, (image2). This worried me because if I understood correctly, the BIOS is not compatible with my NUC ??

Everything seems to be working fine as it has accessed Windows 10 64 Pro normally. When checking the BIOS version, I noticed that it was updated, (image3).

I hope some message will reassure me, please. Thank you

Impossible to Downgrade BIOS on NUC7i5BNH

I am running my NUC with BIOS .050 and want to downgrade it to .047

No matter how I try to downgrade, it seems impossible for some reason, even using the jumper method.

I was on BIOS 51, tried to downgrade to 47, as it has the previous UEFI graphics, but the BIOS says that it's incompatible BIOS (despite it still has the same ME version).

Tried to downgrade to 50 - worked.

Tried from 50 to 49, incompatible.

Tried the F4 method - getting blank screen when booting, doesn't do anything  (tested on 4k TV or 1080P monitor).

Tried removing the security jumper (following the exact instructions here)  - getting blank screen when booting, doesn't do anything  (tested on 4k TV or 1080P monitor).

I have asked other members in the NUC forum and they have the same results.

Is there any way to downgrade to .047?

NUC7i7BNH – Dual Monitor Output via a Single USB-C Port

$

Hi,

My monitor setup is as follows:

  • Samsung C34F791 (3440x1440 resolution)
  • Samsung S27A650D (1920x1080 resolution)

Both of these monitors have a DisplayPort input. I’d like to connect them via this port to my NUC7i7BNH. The USB-C port on the back of my NUC7i7BNH supports Thunderbolt 3, but I’m not sure if it’s capable of driving this dual monitor configuration.

Some suggest to use an external adapter, like Cable Matters, StarTech, or plugable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpBfnnOl9Yw
https://lesterchan.net/blog/2017/08/11/cable-matters-thunderbolt-3-to-dual-displayport-adapter/

- I read that “USB-C specifications only allow one external display per USB-C port”. Is this correct for NUC7i7BNH’s Thunderbolt 3 port as well?

- If so, doesn’t an external dual DisplayPort adapter like Cable Matters adds latency or reduces framerates?

- Would you recommend using a single USB-C port and an external dual DisplayPort adapter, or direct USB-C to DisplayPort connection on one monitor + HDMI to DVI connection on the other monitor (S27A650D doesn’t have HDMI inputs)?

Regards,

Erez.
