NUC buzzing if separated from power line

$

Hello,

I have a NUC6CAYH. Everything works fine: connected to a ASUS Monitor by HDMI/DVI, usb wireless mouse and keyboard and to loudspeakers by 3.5 plug/cinch.

If I turn off the NUC and disconnect the power line I get an extremly loud buzzing from the loudspeakers. I cannot avoid this although I tried a noise filter betweeen the NUC and the loud speakers.

If I keep the power line connected everything is quite.

Does anybody have an idea for a workaround? Is it a failure of the NUC? In general or just mine?

I have so many pc's without any problem of this kind.

Best regards

Gerhard

NUC7i3BNK M.2 logical device interfaces and command sets supports list

Hello!

Somebody can prompt, NUC7i3BNK's M.2  does supports Legasy SATA and PCI Express using NVMe  logical device interfaces and command sets simultaneous?

In specification indicate that, it's have

Total # of SATA Ports     2

Max # of SATA 6.0 Gb/s Ports     2

If to assume that one of SATA sockets, is additional and the second M.2, it means supports?

Quite good it would be obvious to specify in the specification - Support of the protocol M.2: Legasy SATA/PCI Express using AHCI/PCI Express using NVMe

Replacement NUC6i7KYK - after swapping the SSD and memory, is there anything else I need to do?

$

Sorry for the basic question but can anyone tell me --

I just received a replacement for my 6i7KYK that experienced blower failure. When  I put the SSD and memory from the old unit into the new one, should everything work  like before or will I need to do other updates/configuration? I am running Windows 10 Pro. Are there any potential pitfalls to this process?  I'm assuming that the hardware is the same between the two NUCs (but maybe I shouldn't assume that as they were manufactured 9 months apart). Will there be a problem with my Windows activation?

[Edited to add - I have another Windows license key available, so it is not a problem if I need to put in a new key - I would just like to know what to expect.]

I hope someone who has done this before can tell me what to expect. I appreciate your help.

I am getting annoying screen flickering after installing latest graphics driver x.x.x.4771 on Intel NUC7i3BNH.

Screen flickering goes away if I install older graphics driver. Monitor attached is only 1680x1050 resolution.

Anyone else had similar problems with 4771 drivers ?

Intel NUC7i3BNK can't turn it back on with remote

$

This is lengthy but for those who read it and for Intel, trying to avoid any unnecessary questions.  Been working in this for a long time.  I think eventually I get somewhere, but still not solved.

I am having trouble with my infrared port on my NUC.  Problem I've read others are having as well.  My problem is specifically around turning the unit on from sleep.  Other buttons seem to work including powering it off.  To start, my setup:

  • Intel BOXNUC7I3BNK NUC Kit
  • Corsair Force MP500 Series M.2 SSD 120GB Internal Drive (CSSD-F120GBMP500)
  • Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) SODIMM 260-Pin - BLS2K4G4S240FSD (Gray)
  • Windows 10 Pro all updates
  • ITECIR and eHome Infared transceivers both show under HID in Device Manager
  • Connected to a Panasonic Plasma with HDMI cable, no CEC.

For drivers:

Only software on this system is KODI.  And frequently on my many Windows re-installs didn't bothering even with KODI.  The reason I bought the NUC was it would run Windows, and came integrated with infrared.  Infrared doesn't work?  No value.

Bios Settings of relevance:

  • Enhanced Consumer IR checked
  • Unchecked HDMI CEC Control due to other forums with people troubleshooting IR that sounded like this may tie to loosing the IR all together.
  • S3 and S4/S5 set to allow wake on CIR
  • Power set to Max Performance

What's happening:

I have a number of remotes, all of them 95% of the buttons work, including putting the device to sleep/off, only 1 (Harmony) can actually bring the device out of sleep and online again but not the remote I want to use.  The remotes I'm testing with:

  • Harmony 880 programmed as a Microsoft Digital Media Remote.  This remote has zero ability to turn on/off my XBox 360, however it's discrete on and off, as well as it's power toggle button will turn the NUC on and off.  All other functions work as well on the NUC.

  • Microsoft XBox 360 newer media remote.  All functions work on this remote except power on (pressing the XBOX button on top right).  This will turn on and off an XBox 360 though.  I mention this because there seems to be a difference between how/what signals the buttons are sending.  The Harmony can't control the XBox but can the NUC.  This remote can control the XBox power on and off and all functions except power on for the NUC .

           xbox360remote-black.png

  • Also have the older XBox 360 media remote.  This one functions the same as the newer XBox 360 media remote above.

           xbox360remote-white.png

According to Intel's ecosystem list, the last two remotes above are supposed to be compatible:

           chart.png

Things I've tried without any change in intended results to get the power on working.  Each was done with a refresh of the OS so no overlaps:

  • Windows 10 out of the box.
  • Windows 8 with as many drivers as I could get ot work.  The IR drivers did install and show the CIR and eHome drivers.
  • Tried the MCE remote mapper tool but that seemed to have no impact.  Tried setting the X button to wake but nothing.
  • Tried going in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da}\Four-digit_number and setting ForceHCResetOnResume to 1.
  • Tried going in registry Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da and changed CodeSetNum0 to 0.  Also tried with just that change and deleting CodeSetNum1 - 3
  • Tried going in registry Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da and changed CodeSetNum0 to 8 as some say.  Also tried with just that change and deleting CodeSetNum1 - 3
  • Tried in regedit  going to key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da"  and in "ReportMappingTable"  change the line "0c,00,00,00,03,82,00," to "0c,00,00,00,03,81,00,".  Sounded more for shutdown but tried it.
  • On the eHome Receiver in Device Manager I have it set to not allow the computer to turn off the device to save power.  The open to allow to wake is grayed out.
  • I decide well why is everyone saying to go to the RC6 only registry entry I go to the RC6 XBox 360 area instead at Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57df.  I change the "0c,00,00,00,03,82,00," to "0c,00,00,00,03,81,00,".  After rebooting remote doesn't work to send to sleep.  OK that's something that it effected the remote.
  • Sticking with this, I try Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57df.  I change the "0c,00,00,00,03,82,00," to "0c,00,00,00,03,83,00,".  This time it shuts down the computer completely.  No ability to turn it back on again from remote as usual.
  • Then tried Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57df.  I change the "0c,00,00,00,03,82,00," to "0c,00,00,00,04,04,3D,".  This time Windows asked if I wanted to shutdown.  When i clicked enter it shutdown but couldn't power on still with the remote.

This was supposed to be a simple project for my father who is in a home to watch movies and enhance his life.  It's turned into a two month nightmare for me.  I know there are many threads out here with similar problems.  Can someone please help?  And the point of my effort in documenting this is I have all the drivers, bios update, HDMI 2.0 update, etc.  No stone left unturned that I know of.  Any help?  I can no longer return this to Amazon as my time has expired to do so.  Thinking the trick is in the XBOX360 RC6 branch of the registry "maybe?" but can't figure it out.  Still scratching my head why my Harmony remote turns it on and off with the power toggle or the power on and power off discrete commands.

Note since I've already spent a lot of money on remotes that don't work and actually have another NUC on it's way to test it, glad to physically send Intel whatever they want to test.  The NUC, the remotes, whatever.  This would eliminate Intel "not being able to reproduce this problem" that I see lots of people having in various ways.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Steve

My NUC was submerged in historic Louisiana flood. I let it dry, took apart, cleaned it, and to my surprise it started working. With one exception - the infrared sensor. It is recognized by OS, it just does not receive anything. I can see corrosion damage on sensor. Question: Does anyone know where from to get replacement sensor?

Hi Intel,

I'm looking for the drivers for windows Server 2012R2....here's the interesting part....your hardware IS the OEM.

So, in reference to your Post at:  communities.intel.com/thread/102107  ......this doesn't make sense.

Your harware is the Intel NUC NUC6i7KYK

Is there a reason that you don't make drivers for Windows Server 2012r2 for your own device??

This is a limiting  factor with this device,as i want to purchase a 40Gbit External NIC :

ThunderLink® | Thunderbolt 3 to 40GbE Adapter Dual port | ATTO

Kind Regards,

The guy who spent money and can't use the device as intended...because of Drivers.

NUC5i5RYK Ethernet Connection

Hello

New here, but have had the NUC for a couple of years and it is still working (fairly) well.

I have the NUC5i5RYK (Win10 64 Pro) another PC and a Laptop (both Win10 64 Home) with various shared folders. I can access all of the shares on any of the units from the NUC but neither the PC nor Laptop can access the NUC shares - unless I remove the Ethernet cable from the NUC and connect by wireless.  Then all shares are available.

I'm beginning to think it might be hardware issue as I have not been able to update the Ethernet driver recently. Current version is 12.15.25.6 though both the website and the Intel Driver Update Utility says the latest version is 22.6.  Have tried updating (several times) through the Utility and directly with a downloaded driver - including thorough removal of existing drivers.  No luck.  Even when freshly installed with the downloaded driver it says the version is 12.15.25.6 again - so maybe I am not clearing everything from the NUC when removing them?

(With the Ethernet cable connected I can connect to my router for internet access.)

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

HI all,

My NUC keeps crashing (NUC7I7BHN) at least twice a day and finally a mini dump. I ran BlueScreenView on it and captured the DLL detail below at bottom. Note I uninstalled the latest(as of 5/10) and now ok never crashes. I don't have the new sleep functionality with the standard MS Driver but I do get the highest res. I would like to get this to work if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

How to replace CMOS battery on Skull canyon NUC6i7KYK?

Hello.

Yesterday i was bought Intel Skull canyon NUC6i7KYK. I set up BIOS settings (date and time), but every time after power off i get CMOS warning and clock reset to default time. It seems like CMOS battery error or it is discharged.

I tried to get to the back of the motherboard, but it really hard. Seriously, who came up with the idea of placing the battery in such a hard-to-reach place?

Anyway, are there any instructions or videos how to disassemble NUC6i7KYK to replace CMOS battery. I really do not want to contact the service center and wait a week or two for such nonsense.

NUC6CAYH - HDMI output over 50Hz - periodic screen tearing - HD Graphic Driver Bug Report

$
0
0

Hello to All.

This discussion serves as an official bug report submission for the Intel HD Graphics Driver concerning  the NUC6CAYH kit.

This issues has been described before by MannT in this NUC6CAYH - Problem with HDMI 60HZ on HD TV question that remained unanswered, since MannT decided to give up on the product.

MannT describes the issue very clearly in his question. If I can add something to his description would be that this "interference" he describes happens every few seconds and becomes utterly annoying after a couple of minutes. This is a total deal-breaker.

The issue is also present using lower resolutions and even higher refresh rates, e.g 1280x1024@75Hz. It seems that irrespective of the resolution if the refresh rate is higher that 50Hz, the issue manifests itself.

I have spent the last 8 days (since I first bought the nuc) trying to troubleshoot this annoying issue and determine whether this is a hardware incompatibility and therefore I needed to return the product, or a software issue that could eventually be resolved.

I have used different HDTVs/Monitors, namely: UE55B7000WW and LT32E310EX. Both exhibit the issue in every different HDMI input of each and using various different HDMI cables including HDMI 2.0 certified cables.

I have updated the BIOS to the latest 0040 firmware. The issue is still there.

I have updated the LSPCON firmware from 1.60 to 1.66. The issue persists.

I have also used different power supplies to power the NUC (12V DC 75Watt Max) with the said issue stil persisting.

I am running windows 10 x64 enterprise and all drivers are up to date and were downloaded from intel's website.

EVERY other computer I own can do 1080p @60Hz using the above mentioned HDTVs/monitors without any issues.

The NUC6CAYH is advertised and sold as ABLE to do 1080p @60Hz, hence the workaround of running my refresh rate @50Hz is completely out of the question.

Anyway, as I mentioned I am not here to accept suggestions from people on what to try next. I wasted enough time and I was lucky enough to pinpoint the problem to the Intel Graphics Driver. Therefore, I am here to submit this as an official bug report and hopefully have Intel's engineers reproduce, acknowledge and eventually fix the issue in one of the upcoming driver releases.

My NUC remains issue free when I use Graphics Drivers up to and including 21.20.16.4590.

As soon as I update to any newer drivers (starting from 4627 up to and including the latest 4729) the issue appears. I did not bother to test 4614 as it was a beta driver and I was not interested in using a beta driver anyway. So I do not know if 4614 has this issue or not.

In case Intel refuses to acknowledge this issue as a graphics driver bug, I would like to know ASAP and in writing as I want to return this product as defective and not get charged any restocking fees etc. I am happy with the unit as far as everything else is concerned, but there is no way that I am going to keep it either using an outdated driver or at a lower refresh rate than what the product was advertised and sold as. I am sure that Intel will choose to stand by its products and not lose another customer as happened already with MannT.

If Intel has another process in place for submitting driver's bugs, I'd be happy to follow it as soon as you let me know about it.

Please do not close this discussion unless an official acknowledgement or denial of the issue as a driver bug is given by Intel.

Looking forward to a very prompt resolution of this problem.

Regards,

KP.

Can anyone help me find this connector?

I have a nuc5ppyh that I'm wanting to use in a car.  I bought the DCDC-NUC power board from minibox and it comes with a cable that would plug to this connector:

Intel® NUC Boards and Kits — Front Panel Header

The trouble is that I can't seem to find that connector anywhere inside my NUC.

Has anyone used one of these DCDC-NUC power boards to control their NUC.  I'm going to be running Linux (Mythbuntu) and using it as a media server.  The wifi is configured as a hotspot.  I have all that working, I'm just trying to figure out how to get the power board to control it.  There's not a lot of documentation on the DCDC-NUC board, or at least I haven't found what I'm looking for yet.  After some more research, it doesn't appear that it is intended for use with Linux since the only way to communicate with it seems to be via a Windows DLL API over a USB connection.
