NUC6CAYH screen turns black for a second

$

Hi. I`m having issues with a recently buyed NUC6CAYH. The screen will randomly turn completely black for a second or two. (it happend once every 4 or 5 minutes or once every 4 to 5 seconds)

It has windows 10 Pro installed with latest bios (040) and drivers installed.

It is connected via VGA cable to a LCD display (resolution: 1440x900@60Hz).

The things i`ve tried so far:

  • lowering the display resolution to other than the native display stops the flickering or at least makes it less frequent.
  • I had keyboard, mouse and two printers connected to a back USB port through a 2.0 USB hub. removing the USB hub eliminate de flickering (or at least it has not flicker once in about an hour) [Hub works flawlessly in other PCs]
  • Connecting mouse keyboard and two USB hdds makes the flickering happen at least once every 30 minutes.

Thanks in advance and excuse my english.

NUC buzzing if separated from power line

Hello,

I have a NUC6CAYH. Everything works fine: connected to a ASUS Monitor by HDMI/DVI, usb wireless mouse and keyboard and to loudspeakers by 3.5 plug/cinch.

If I turn off the NUC and disconnect the power line I get an extremly loud buzzing from the loudspeakers. I cannot avoid this although I tried a noise filter betweeen the NUC and the loud speakers.

If I keep the power line connected everything is quite.

Does anybody have an idea for a workaround? Is it a failure of the NUC? In general or just mine?

I have so many pc's without any problem of this kind.

Best regards

Gerhard

Screen Flickering

I am getting annoying screen flickering after installing latest graphics driver x.x.x.4771 on Intel NUC7i3BNH.

Screen flickering goes away if I install older graphics driver. Monitor attached is only 1680x1050 resolution.

Anyone else had similar problems with 4771 drivers ?

DisplayPort Audio Issue on NUC7i5BNH

I've got a Dell P2415Q connected to an NUC7i5BNH via DisplayPort.

The speakers is then connected to the 3.5mm jack on the back of the monitor.

Everything is fine if I set the resolution to 4k@30hz or anything lower than this.

But the first bits of any audio is almost always dropped when the display resolution is set to the maximum 4k@60hz.

This is not much a problem if I'm watching a film or something but it's really irritating when half of a notification sound is chopped off.

If I connect the 3.5mm jack to the Realtek sound card on the front of the NUC there is no audio drop instead I get the electrical noise problem described by other people.

NUC7I5BNK Power ON from Microsoft XBOX 360 Media Remote not working

I am not sure if it is a bug or a missing feature but since it’s announced that this remote is compatible (NUC Ecosystem Catalog July 2017) should work.

360 Media remote.png

https://www.intel.es/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/technical-specifications/nuc-ecosystem-catalog-2017.pdf

Please add support in BIOS or remove from advertised products as compatible.

NOTE: some old NUC’s has this support in BIOS:

However in last generation NUC’s (NUC7I5BNK) this option is missing in BIOS.

No he conseguido visualizar nada todavía. Me gustaría saber que puedo hacer para resolver este problema.

Muchas gracias.

Hi there,

Unfortunately the combination of my NUC and tv doesn't work properly. HDMI 2.0 Firmware Update tool 1.66 installed.

Following are the details.

Category

Questions

Answers (N/A if not applicable)

Description

Provide a detailed description of the issue

Turning on the tv, than the NUC, results in the tv not seeing any signal from the NUC connected to either ports HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 on the tv, mentioning "No input detected". The tv does flicker/switch once, noticing the NUC is starting. Neither the boot splash screen, nor the OS desktop is seen. The NUC boots successfully as i can connect to it over the network. Rebooting the NUC up to 10 times eventually results in showing the boot splash screen and the OS desktop. The VGA connection plugged into another display does not seem to have any problems. Re-plugging the HDMI cable has no effect, tv flickers/switches once but eventually will show "No Input detected". No connection/display issues at all with a satellite set top box connected to the same tv.

Please place an X to the right of the option showing how often you see this issue using specific steps. (Ex: 'Every few times a game is started it flickers.' <- This would be "Often")

Please provide steps to replicate the issue.  These steps are very crucial to finding the root cause and fix.
A screenshot to illustrate the issue is a huge plus. A video of the failure is even better! Attach to the post or provide the YouTube link.

  1. Connect NUC to tv with hdmi cable.
  2. Connect power to NUC and tv.
  3. Turn on tv.
  4. Turn on NUC.
  5. NUC boots successfully, tv does not show display but shows "No Input".
  6. Reboot NUC, up to about 10 times, until boot splash screen displays. If boot splash screen shows, NUC works as intended.@

Hi,

Just installed Win 7 Pro on a NUC5CPYH.  Installed all the Intel and Windows ugrades bu the SD card reader does not show up.  The bios shows the sd drive as disabled but the window is greyed out so I can't click to enable it.  Any ideas?  The only big change I did to install Win 7 was put in a patch to enable usb 3.0 in win 7.  Thanks

Black Screens & Failure to awake

$

0

Two issues:

From day one, my Nuc7i7bnh has not been able to wake up the monitor after going to sleep.  The Nuc will wake up, the screen will not wake up.  The screen claims it is not receiving a signal.  This occurs with every HDMI cable I have tried.  My brother has the same exact issue with his NUC.  Several of of my colleagues who own Nuc's are having the same exact issue. By the way, other computers wake up correctly with this monitor (Dell P2415Q, 4k 60hz monitor).   So the issue does not appear to be with the monitor.

The only way I was able to get around this wake up issue was to use a USB c to display port cable.  With this cable the Nuc was able to wake up the monitor.

In July, I started to have the dreaded black screen flicker.  Colleagues are also having the exact same issue.  So is my brother.  It is driving everyone nuts!

I had great hope when Intel delivered the new display driver.  It appeared to work for a while.  Unfortunately, the dreaded black screen flash has reappeared.  Not as frequent as in the past, nevertheless, it is back!  I also discovered that this new driver is not operating at 60hz, it is operating at 29hz (according to Windows 10).  I have totally uninstalled the driver, switched to the generic Microsoft display driver, rebooted several times and reinstalled the latest Intel display driver.  Same results every time!  29hz.

Please note:

The difference in the display hertz for the Microsoft generic display driver and the latest Intel display driver.

Unfortunately, returning the Nuc is not a good option.  Why?  The Nuc was only part of the expense.  I have the expense of an SSD, 32gb of ram, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, a monitor.

So far, the Nuc is about the most troublesome computer I have ever owned.  (I have owned computers since 1985.)

Here is a video where it refuses to wake up:

thunderbolt drivers for Windows server 2012r2

Hi Intel,

I'm looking for the drivers for windows Server 2012R2....here's the interesting part....your hardware IS the OEM.

So, in reference to your Post at:  communities.intel.com/thread/102107  ......this doesn't make sense.

Your harware is the Intel NUC NUC6i7KYK

Is there a reason that you don't make drivers for Windows Server 2012r2 for your own device??

This is a limiting  factor with this device,as i want to purchase a 40Gbit External NIC :

ThunderLink® | Thunderbolt 3 to 40GbE Adapter Dual port | ATTO

Kind Regards,

The guy who spent money and can't use the device as intended...because of Drivers.

I have a kiosk system I setup and due to the NUC's inability to come out of sleep from my remotes I'm trying ready mode.  Problem is even if I disable password on startup, password to resume from sleep or hibernation, when coming out of ready mode it requires me to login again.  How do I stop this?

Thanks.

nuc7i3bnh does not wake up external hard drive from sleep

I recently purchaed this nuc and very satisified with size and perfomance

I do have one issue with my external hard disk, Seagate goFlex

http://www.seagate.com/em/en/external-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/goflex-desk/

The disk has an external power supply and usb 3 dock which i connected to the usb 3 ports on the front of my nuc

For some reason the disk doesn't wake up after the first time it falls asleep , which is an issue i never had in my older PC (consider that the windows 10 installation was transferred as is to the nuc)

i deselected the option that allows the port to turn off the device (I am not sure if i did it on the right port though) and i even installed the seagate app and sepcified NEVER to put the disk to sleep but still this happens and I lose all access to my media content whch is terrible for me

the only way to get it to work again is to unplug the usb and re plug it

any solutions?

NUC7i7BNH – Dual Monitor Output via a Single USB-C Port

Hi,

My monitor setup is as follows:

  • Samsung C34F791 (3440x1440 resolution)
  • Samsung S27A650D (1920x1080 resolution)

Both of these monitors have a DisplayPort input. I’d like to connect them via this port to my NUC7i7BNH. The USB-C port on the back of my NUC7i7BNH supports Thunderbolt 3, but I’m not sure if it’s capable of driving this dual monitor configuration.

Some suggest to use an external adapter, like Cable Matters, StarTech, or plugable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpBfnnOl9Yw
https://lesterchan.net/blog/2017/08/11/cable-matters-thunderbolt-3-to-dual-displayport-adapter/

- I read that “USB-C specifications only allow one external display per USB-C port”. Is this correct for NUC7i7BNH’s Thunderbolt 3 port as well?

- If so, doesn’t an external dual DisplayPort adapter like Cable Matters adds latency or reduces framerates?

- Would you recommend using a single USB-C port and an external dual DisplayPort adapter, or direct USB-C to DisplayPort connection on one monitor + HDMI to DVI connection on the other monitor (S27A650D doesn’t have HDMI inputs)?

Regards,

Erez.

NUC6i5SYH - BIOS not supported ?

$

When I bought my NUC, I made the update to version 057 and everything went well, using the Express method, very simple, fast and easy.

So, in my NUC I had the BIOS 057 and today I did the update again to version 062 and everything went well again, (image2) but after completing the update, the NUC reset and displayed the message, (image1). This worried me because if I understood correctly, the BIOS is not compatible with my NUC ??

Everything seems to be working fine as it has accessed Windows 10 64 Pro normally. When checking the BIOS version, I noticed that it was updated, (image3).

I hope some message will reassure me, please. Thank you
