Skull Canyon audio output to AVR

$

I have a Marantz NR 1607 receiver. I have the Skull Canyon running to that receiver and from the receiver to my 4k TV. The TV looks great but my audio is not working. When I select anything other than stereo in windows it simply does not give any sound to my 3.1 setup.

I've downloaded the complete driver package today and installed everything from scratch after a brand new windows 10 install. I have new high bandwidth 4k hdmi cables. I have updated windows with everything as well.

Could you please help me figure out why this device will not output 3.1 audio but instead only works in stereo. I have also made sure the Marantz is the device chosen when you click on the speaker. When I run the testing or any youtube videos while in stereo mode there are audio dropouts. If I click play it takes a second for the audio to start and when it does it's obviously in stereo mode. Using the remote on my receiver I can pull up on screen where the receiver shows the input as being stereo signal and it does acknowledge I have a 3.1 speaker setup that is complete. I know the receiver works fine as I also have an appleTV plugged into it that detects everything and works flawlessly.

Windows 7 on NUC5CPYH, USB2 ports not working

Hi,

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on NUC5CPYH. This NUC has USB2 ports (internal) - I connected my keyboard and mouse to these ports. They work in bios, however they stop working during Windows 7 installation.

I know about "Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility", but it's only required for "NUC products that have only USB 3.0 ports". I don't have second computer, so I'm unable to use this utility.

Is where any other way I can install Windows 7? Why USB2 ports stop working?

NUC7i3BNK screen flickering (1680x1050, 59 or 60hz)

Hi,

After purchasing a NUC7i3BNK for my aunt as a desktop replacement (only some light internet and office work) I installed the NUC on my LG IPS277l (1920x1080) via HDMI. No issues so far.

Unfortunately when installing the NUC at my aunt's screen (a Dell professional 2009W 20" screen with DVI-D and VGA connections) on the NUC's HDMI port with a HDMI to DVI cable the screen starts flickering in certain circumstances.

After some troubleshooting I noticed it only occurs so far on the 1680x1050 resolution (59 or 60hz doesn't make a difference) which is the recommended resolution for this screen. When setting the monitor to a lower resolution it doesn't occur so far.

I believe after reading the forum topics about screen flickering/dropouts that it is a driver related problem, since on other resolutions everything is ok so cables etc. should be fine.

I have already installed the most recent bios (0052) and updated the nuc to all the most recent drivers via the Intel Driver & Support Assistant. Then I tried the recommended older display driver in the main screen flickering topic (4771) and the HDMI 2.0 firmware update, but the flickering is still there.

(just to be clear, the screen stays ON all the time, it just glitches so no black screen on/off as reported with some 4k monitors)

I have uploaded a video of the problem:

NUC7i3BNK screen flickering - YouTube

Hope there is a solution for this problem, thank you in advance for looking into it.

NUC7i5BNH - No audio through HDMI (TV) in fullscreen for certain games

$

Hello,

I have an issue regarding audio on my new NUC.

First of all let me explain my setup:

I have 2 monitors: one is your common somewhat old PC monitor that connects to the NUC through a HDMI-to-DVI cable. The other monitor is a recent model LGTV which is connected directly through a HDMI cable. Since the NUC only has 1 HDMI port, I alternate between them depending on my needs.

The PC monitor doesn't have its own audio, I use speakers for sound. There are no issues with this setup.

The problem arises when I try to play certain games in fullscreen on my LGTV: the audio device manager will detect my TV and keep doing so when the game is started in window mode, however, when fullscreen is activated the TV will dissapear from the audio device manager. It will reappear after a second or two when you alt-tab to check the device manager.

Since this only happens to certain games, this should be a software issue.

Games that don't have this issue: Cuphead, Xanadu Next.

Games that do have this issue: Little Nightmares, Grandia II Anniversary Edition

As you can see this is a mix of old and new games.

According to Intel's GPU GUI, my driver version is 22.20.16.4815.

I have made quite a bit of research regarding this annoying problem and haven't been able to produce any desirable results, please help me fix this oddity that no doubt devaluates my NUC.

UPDATE: Amy C. from another, similar topic suggested that installing version 15.45 (21.20.16.4678 according to the GUI) should fix the issue and indeed it does.

Thank you very much, I hope that this fix is integrated into future driver updates.

Hi

I try to install W7 on my NUC5CPYB. I can't install W7 actually because my keyboard is not recognize due to USB 3.0.

I follow the steps to add drivers but it does not work...

During the mounting, the systm block "cleaning up and mounting" during hours..

How can I install W7 on my computer ?

Thanks

BOnjour

NUC7I5BNH - HDMI 2.0 Issues

$

Hi All,

I am experiencing flickering when trying to set my display to 3440x1440.
In summary, I believe it is a HDCP issue or some statically configured expectation within the driver of how a HDMI 2.0 port should behave when communicating with it.
Below are the troubleshooting steps I have performed along with the hardware specs.

Intel NUC Hardware
Model: NUC7I5BNH
OS: Win 10 Home x64
Memory: Single Kingston ValueRAM (Part Number: KVR21S15S8/4, 4GB Module, DDR4 2133MHz, Non-ECC, CL15, 1.2V, Unbuffered, SODIMM)
HDD: WD M.2 Blue 250GB (WDS250G1B0B, 250GB, SATA III, 6Gbs, M.2 2280)
Firmware and Drivers: The latest drivers and BIOS Update listed in the 'Drivers and Downloads' page for this product, have been installed for each component in the NUC, up to the date of this post (including the HDMI 2.0 Firmware Update).

TV's:
Sony KDL-65X95000B (4K 60Hz TV, 4:2:0 8-bit, Not HDR compatible)
Sony KDL-46Z4500 (1080p 50Hz)

HDMI Cables:
Hi-Speed cables 2K/4K V2.0 from EzyHD - https://www.ezyhd.com.au/
XBox One S provided HDMI cable

Thunderbolt to HDMI Adapter:
Moshi USB-C to HDMI Adapter - https://www.moshi.com/usb-c-to-hdmi-adapter
NOTE: I understand the compatibility only states MAC products, but it works, and exhibits the same behaviour as the HDMI port, however I'm not really concerned with this (it's HDMI that concerns me)

Desktop PC:
OS: Win 10 Pro x64
Graphics Card: NVidia GTX 1080 TI

Monitor: Acer X34 Predator (DisplayPort 1.2a, HDMI 1.4)

Troubleshooting:
Sony KDL-65X95000B
1) My desktop PC has NO issues displaying the TV at 3440x1440 resolution - No flickering
2) My XBox One S has NO issues detecting the TV as 4K capable, and has no issues displaying the TV at 3440x1440 resolution
3) My FetchTV box has NO issues detecting the TV as 4K capable, and has no issues displaying the TV at 3440x1440 resolution
4) My Surface Pro 2 has NO issues displaying the TV at 3440x1440 resolution - No flickering
5) The NUC shows that the recommended display settings for the TV is 1920x1080 (even though it is a 4K TV). I have no flickering at this resolution.
6) As soon as I  set the Display settings to 3440x1440, I get the message saying that this is not the recommended display settings for this device, and I begin to get flickering. It is stable at 1920x1080.
7) I have also tried various refresh rates, 30Hz, 59Hz, 60Hz etc....but still get flickering.
8) Various power cycle methods on the TV and NUC including - Rebooting, Sleep, Shutdown, Removing power sources, changing inputs, powering up the devices in specific sequences etc..., sometimes provide stability at the 3440x1440 resolution (I have more stability using the Thunderbolt to HDMI Adapter), however even when its stable, i can verify its still not working poperly when trying to watch 'Foxtel Go', where I get no picture (see further down regarding Foxtel Go)
9) All HDMI ports on the TV have been tried
10) CEC has been tried ON and OFF on the TV
11) All display and sound modes have been tried on the TV
12) I have tried the TV's supplied HDMI splitter which produces the same reults
13) When using other HDMI inputs that aren't HDMI input number 1, it sometimes switches the TV's inputs to HDMI 1 (may have been more prominent before I disabled CEC)

Foxtel Go
1) I cannot watch any channels in Foxtel Go when using it through the Sony KDL-65X95000B using HDMI at 1920x1080 resolution (Thunderbolt to HDMI Adapter doesn't work either, however this is expected behaviour so it's not a consideration)
2) I have tried all of Foxtel Go's troubleshooting steps for this particular issue, however I have verified it is not an application issue - see the next 2 points
3) When I plug the NUC in to my Desktop PC monitor, Foxtel Go works
4) When I cast my desktop on the NUC to a chromecast, which is also connected to my Sony KDL-65X95000B TV, I cannot watch any channels. However, as soon as I unplug the HDMI connection from my NUC to the TV, and still casting to the chromecast, I can watch channels
5) Its clear that there is an issue with the HDMI 2.0 here

Sony KDL-46Z4500
1) When using HDMI, I just get a black screen - doesn't work at all at 1920x1080
2) When using the Thunderbolt to HDMI Adapter, it works at 1920x1080 (Foxtel Go doesn't work as expected as we are using the Thunderbolt to HDMI Adapter).

NUC7i5BNH, Linux and Bluetooth not working

$

So I know Linux isn't 'officially' supported by Intel, but maybe I can get some help with this issue anyway.

I've just purchased the above NUC today, and installed Linux Mint 18.2 on it. Everything is running fine, except for the Bluetooth. To be honest I'm not sure if this is a distro or a driver issue. I've scoured Google looking for a solution to no avail. I've upgraded the BIOS, tried  installing new Bluetooth Packages and a couple of other suggested fixes, but the issue is still present and the Bluetooth Adapater can't be found.,

Any help with this would be great,

Thanks.

Why no NUC splash screen via USB-C cable

$

0

Forum,

The setup is NUC7i5, Samsung S34E790C display, and a HDMI cable OR USB-C to DisplayPort cable (ALOGIC)

When the display is connected via HDMI cable, on boot I see the "Intel NUC" splash screen then the Windows 10 Home splash screen.  When it is connected via USB-C, on boot the "Intel NUC" splash screen is not displayed then the Windows splash screen is.

When connected via HDMI, BIOS interface displays as expected.  When connected via USB-C, BIOS interface does not display.

Please advise if this is expected behaviour?

Thanks

NUC7i5bnh screen flickering when launching some programs

Hi.

My NUC7i5bnh is connected to the display via hdmi-dvi adaptor. Another information regarding my system is in attached file.

Screen begins flickering when I launch MS Word, Excel, Edge. Also it happens when I close Windows 10 built-in video player after playing video file and Skype after finishing conversation.

But it stops flickering when I launch the game World of Warcraft. And it does not flicker when apps mentioned above is launched if WOW is running in background.

How can I make it stop flickering without WOW in background.

NUC6i7KYK: Display Sleep, Windows Shrink & Migrate to Upper-left Corner of Display

$

NUC6i7KYK experiencing the symptom of when the display goes to sleep, all my windows shrink to about 1024x768 and, upon waking, are all bunched-up in the upper left corner of the screen.  Here's what I've done to try to troubleshoot:

  1. Install latest Intel graphics driver from here:  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/89187/Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC6i7KYK - done.  At the time, the latest version was version 15.40.23.4444.  Problem persists.
  2. Search the internet for similar problems - found this:  http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2459135/u28d590d-nvidia980-displayport-powersave-shrinking-windows.html - this involves editing the registry and forcing d70 (hex for 3440) and 5a0 (hex for 1440) values into PrimSurfSize.cx and PrimSurfSize.cy categories.  Seemed to work until Intel driver was updated to latest version (15.40.24.4454) then problem returned.
  3. In frustration, did a complete re-install of Windows 10 Pro (including all patches and SW stack) using only latest drivers installed via Microsoft.  Problem GONE, but graphics were a bit "glitchy" - forced to install Intel Graphics driver to resolve those problems.
  4. Installed latest Intel graphics driver (15.40.24.4454) and problem returned!  I did notice that, post install and reboot, the Intel graphics driver pops up a calibration window that appears to set some variable to...1024X768.  But, I cannot find where to change this, despite looking for several hours.
  5. Found this post on this forum (https://communities.intel.com/thread/63548) where NUC5I5RYH owners experienced the exact same thing, which was cured by an update to the Intel graphics driver.

System Configuration:

  • Samsung 512GB 950 Pro (running latest firmware)
  • 2X16GB G.Skill 2800 MHz DDR4 (running @ 2400 MHz for now)
  • Windows 10 Pro, Version 1511, Build 10586.318 (fully updated and patched as of this AM)
  • Monitor LG 34UC97S (Ultrawide) attached via DP 1.2 (tried 2 different cables, both verified good on another system)
  • Graphics Driver:  Intel 20.19.15.4454 (most current as of this AM)

In addition, under Advanced Display Settings -> Display Adapter Properties -> Monitor, my monitor shows up as "Generic PnP Monitor".  This is interesting because, while running just Windows 10, it properly showed up here as an LG 34UC97.  I just tried to re-install LG's monitor driver (which claimed success) and rebooted, but the monitor still shows up as Generic PnP Monitor.  Why this is interesting is Intel's HD Graphics Control Panel reports (correctly) that the selected display is a "Digital Display LG Ultrawide".  Thus, I've got conflicting information.

Please help - this is making me crazy, is a sinkhole for time, and forcing the display to remain awake is not especially power-efficient...

Bluetooth Completely Missing on NUC6i7KYK After Disabling in Windows 10

$

OK, I think this may be a problem that may occur on other devices than the NUC6i7KYK in Windows 10.  I'm just observing this on the NUC6i7KYK.  I've turned off the Bluetooth Radio from the "Action Center" controls because I don't generally use the radio.  But after some time Windows decides that there is no Bluetooth hardware in the machine and will not recognize the hardware until it is re-enabled.  The problem is there is nowhere that I can find that I can re-enable the radio.  I have updated the Intel drivers for the Bluetooth (which install OK with no mention that Bluetooth does not exist).  Yet after...  Device manager shows nothing about a disabled piece of hardware nor will Windows see the radio if I use Settings -> Update & Security ->Troubleshoot -> Bluetooth (It says there is no radio).  I disabled Bluetooth in the BIOS, rebooted, checked everything in Windows, uninstalled the driver, rebooted and still see no piece of Bluetooth hardware.  Not sure how to get this active again.

Nuc7i5BNH Updated BIOS, now it's loud.

I bought a NUC i7 a while back and returned it because the noise was unbearable.  I got the I5 version, thinking it wouldn't get as hot, so the fan wouldn't need to run so much.  It was nice and quiet, but I was having issues getting the HDMI display to wake up after turning on my TV/Receiver...so I updated the BIOS from whatever 04/2017 version it had, to the latest one.  As soon as I turned it booted it up again...same damn noise as the i7....Loud whirring sound, like a jet engine.  Open a web browser...it goes even louder like a hair dryer.

Can I roll back my BIOS to what it was??? I did set the fan to quiet, which helps a bit...but I can't sleep with this thing in my room the way it is.
