NUC5PGYH HDMI image/video problem

Hello.

I just got the nuc from the title a day ago and today i set it up connecting it to my tv. I noticed a weird problem with the hdmi. Sometimes when i change the source on my tv to another hdmi and then switch back to the hdmi where the nuc is i have an image which is only a white noise video. I am attaching a picture of it. After a few reswitches it gets normal. If i dont reswitch the screen keeps flickering between no signal, that white noise stuff and nothing shown with the message that the resolution is not supported. If i start the nuc and i have the tv on that hdmi source from the start everything is ok. Same after it starts working. The problem occurs just if i switch sources while nuc is on or i start the nuc and i have the source on tv on another one and i switch to the nuc at a later time.

Any idea what might be happening?

NUC6CAYS NIC dissapearing

Hello,

I have an issue with multiple NUC6CAYS NUC's.

I have 12 of those running as video playback devices.

Now I started to notice that in seemingly random intervals the NUC's completely lose their ethernet connectivity.

When checking the player it looks like the NIC just disappeared, it is nowhere to be found in the windows device manager or in the network adapter settings.

The only solutions I have found so far is turning off the device for approx. 10min. and restarting it. Normal reboots without the waiting period don't work.

Since these devices are deployed in a professional environment this is not a solution.

Hopefully there will be a solution for this soon.

NUC6CAYH screen turns black for a second

Hi. I`m having issues with a recently buyed NUC6CAYH. The screen will randomly turn completely black for a second or two. (it happend once every 4 or 5 minutes or once every 4 to 5 seconds)

It has windows 10 Pro installed with latest bios (040) and drivers installed.

It is connected via VGA cable to a LCD display (resolution: 1440x900@60Hz).

The things i`ve tried so far:

  • lowering the display resolution to other than the native display stops the flickering or at least makes it less frequent.
  • I had keyboard, mouse and two printers connected to a back USB port through a 2.0 USB hub. removing the USB hub eliminate de flickering (or at least it has not flicker once in about an hour) [Hub works flawlessly in other PCs]
  • Connecting mouse keyboard and two USB hdds makes the flickering happen at least once every 30 minutes.

Thanks in advance and excuse my english.

Bluetooth Completely Missing on NUC6i7KYK After Disabling in Windows 10

OK, I think this may be a problem that may occur on other devices than the NUC6i7KYK in Windows 10.  I'm just observing this on the NUC6i7KYK.  I've turned off the Bluetooth Radio from the "Action Center" controls because I don't generally use the radio.  But after some time Windows decides that there is no Bluetooth hardware in the machine and will not recognize the hardware until it is re-enabled.  The problem is there is nowhere that I can find that I can re-enable the radio.  I have updated the Intel drivers for the Bluetooth (which install OK with no mention that Bluetooth does not exist).  Yet after...  Device manager shows nothing about a disabled piece of hardware nor will Windows see the radio if I use Settings -> Update & Security ->Troubleshoot -> Bluetooth (It says there is no radio).  I disabled Bluetooth in the BIOS, rebooted, checked everything in Windows, uninstalled the driver, rebooted and still see no piece of Bluetooth hardware.  Not sure how to get this active again.

NUC6i7KYK - NUC, Razer Core, Fall Windows 10 Update, Video Disconnect issue - makes sound like USB device disconnect/reconnect

I have the Skull Canyon NUC, Razer Core, GTX 1080 and just updated to the Windows 10 Fall Creators update.  As soon as I got back to the desktop after the update, I noticed as soon as I right clicked on the desktop, it sounded as if I had repeatedly connected and disconnected a USB device, as it kept making the connect/disconnect sound.  I initially thought it was a bad USB driver or something, so I disconnected everything but the Razer Core, but it still happened.  I then went to device manager, showed hidden devices and got rid of anything that wasn't being used and tried to re-install what I could, but still the same issue.

I then tried to check the display settings and when I went in there, I will usually see two displays as I have the Razer Core, with GTX 1080 as my primary display connected to it's own monitor and the onboard Intel 580 graphics card with a headless HDMI connector attached.  The display settings show the two displays, but after the Windows 10 update and what I thought was USB issues because of the connect/disconnect sound, it seems that the Intel 580 would be the device that actually disappears as in the display settings screen, the two monitor setup would appear and disappear along with the device disconnect/reconnect sound from the OS.  I removed the headless HDMI connector from the Intel 580, but that did nothing.

I then just disabled the Intel 580 graphics card in Device Manager and that seems to have solved the disconnect/reconnect issue, however, now I can't use my onboard graphics card, which has been an issue sometimes when the Razer Core has randomly disconnected for some reason.

Has anyone else had an issue like this?  And is there any possible fix with drivers and/or firmware for the NUC to solve this?  I'm running the latest drivers/firmware currently.

Any help is appreciated.

Graphics issues with NUC7I7BNH

I have the NUC7I7BNH running:

  • Windows 10 Home (64 bit),
  • Kingston HyperX Impact 2x16GB  2133 MhZ DDR4 RAM
  • Samsung 960 EVO 250GB M.2 SSD
  • Connected via HDMI to LG 27UD69P-W 27" monitor

Two primary issues:

  1. When the monitor goes to sleep, I can't wake it back up without turning off the computer.  This seems to be an issue with the Intel GPU?  I've seen this issue on many forums with no real answer.  This alone is incredibly disappointing and if I hadn't bought all of these components to go along with my machine I'd be returning it unless I can find a solution that allows my monitor to sleep and wake up properly.
  2. When running google chrome, and going to google maps, the computer sounds like it is a jet engine taking off and starts going extremely slowly.  This problem does not exist with MS Edge, only in Chrome.  Not sure what could be causing this?

Thank you!

What triple display configurations are supported on NUC7i5 and NUC7i7?

$

I've been trying to get a good picture on what triple-display configurations are possible on my NUC7i7 and what dongles/converters will work. However, the documentation is inconclusive. Can somebody from Intel clear this up?

According to this page:

Setting Up Multiple Displays for the Intel® NUC

The supported configuration is:

DisplayIntel NUC PortTV/Monitor PortMax Resolution
1HDMIHDMI or DVI4096x2160 at 60 Hz
2DisplayPort via USB Type-CUSB Type C, HDMI, or DisplayPort4096x2304 at 60 Hz
3DisplayPort via USB Type-CUSB Type C, HDMI, or DisplayPort4096x2304 at 60 Hz

The DP output on the NUC7i7, according to the specifications on http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/NUC7i5BN_NUC7i7BN_TechProdSpec.pdf , is a Displayport 1.2 (Page 26: "DisplayPort via USB Type-C connector is compliant with the DisplayPort 1.2 specification.". That provides a maximum bandwidth of 21.6 Gbps.

A single 4096x2304@60Hz display takes up 17Gbps of bandwidth. Driving two monitors at that resolution through a single displayport would require not DP 1.2, but DP 1.3 (max bandwidth 34Gbps). I could not find any DP MST hub out there that would support anything over 21.6Gbps according to the specs. So my question to Intel is: what converter would I need for the above supported configuration to work?

My guess is that the above is impossible through DP 1.2 alternate mode. However, that page does not mention Thunderbolt.  With 40Gbps of bandwidth, driving two UHD displays at 60Hz should be possible.

But.. For the NUC6 Intel created a page on Thunderbolt compatibility, and on that page they clearly state that a single display is the maximum: Thunderbolt™ 3/USB Type C Information: "Single 4K (Ultra HD) or 1080p video support " For the NUC7 series, no such compatibility page on Thunderbolt exists.

However, when I look at the list of tested peripherals for the NUC7 series (Tested Peripherals for Intel® NUC Kits NUC7i[x]BN ), the following items are in the list:

Thunderbolt™/USB Type-C Devices (Thunderbolt only supported on i5/i7 models)
PlugableThunderbolt 3 dual DisplayPort adapterTBT3-DP2X
PlugableThunderbolt 3 dual HDMI adapterTBT3-HDMI2X

According to the manufacturer, the TBT3-DP2X supports two UHD displays at 60Hz (see Plugable Thunderbolt™ 3 Dual DisplayPort Adapter for Windows | Plugable ). As does the similar Startech TB32DP2 dongle. However, I can't get it to drive two displays (QHD + FHD, theoretically using just 12.75Gbps of bandwidth, but I can only drive one at a time).

I have now bought over EUR 200 of converters on top of the NUC7i7 just to get my triple-display configuration working and I'm still not there, having to revert to an old Displaylink USB -> DVI device and using just a single display on the USB-C/DP/TB port (with a flicker problem, but there is another topic on that).

NUC5I3MYBE I2C clock frequency

Hi

Does anybody know for sure which I2C speed mode is used for the Synopsys DesignWare I2C bus on the custom solution header?

I'm using Debian Stretch. The bus is working, but I need to connect a device which can only be used in standard mode, so 100kHz.

Fast mode with 400kHz would be too fast.

If the NUC uses 400kHz by default, how can I change that in an easy way?

Tech Spec doesn't say anything about it and even Google didn't help.

Cheers, Martin

NUC7i5BNK DSD over HDMI does not work

I've got an Intel NUC7i5BNK with Win10-64 connected to my Denon AVP-A1HDCI via HDMI. I can't seem to get it to stream DSD using Foobar2000 + WASAPI. DSD+PCM doesn't work either. No errors/no sound with DSD64 sources. I've got F2K configured properly for DSD. ASIO doesn't work either. My Denon does native DSD over HDMI fine from my OPPO so I know the Denon is capable.

Network Driver update, NUC 5425

The Install Wizard for Intel Network Connections would not execute, returning the message "The installed version of Intel Network Connections is not supported for upgrades.  You must uninstall it before installing this version."

Cleverly, Intel provides no click through or instructions for completing such a deed.  The only option is to close the wizard.

I'm hesitant to poke around and uninstall something as critical as a network driver without knowing what I'm doing.

It is surprising Intel would not provide proper guidance with this, but it is what it is.  I'd welcome help from this community.  I've attached an amusing screenshot of the installer's message.

INTEL NUCi7 3D MVC ISSUE

Coming from Intel NUC DN2820 I was able to play 3D MVC with Kodi with new Intel Media SDK, I just purchased Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK and 3D playback doesn't work.

On the Intel NUC DN2820, the resolution was set 1920X1080p 3D and everything works great

On the Intel NUC NUC7i3BNK either I set the 1920X1080p 3D or  3820X2160p 3D doesn't work

The Intel Media SDK was supposed to allow 3D MVC to work, I did some testing and found the HDMI 2.0 connection is the one causing the issue and any NUC with HDMI 2.0 doesn't work/

Power Saving Problems in NUC 7X

Dear All

I have found some NON Understandable Power Saving problems in my NUC 7i5BNK.

1:  The displayed windows will be shrinked and moved to top left conner and piled up togather after monitor resumed from power saving.

This problem is totally non understandable to me.   I am using a 4k monitor, and normally will open about 10 windows at the same time.  I will carefully arange these windows to proper locations and sizes for my working efficency.   I was totally astounded when first time I saw all of my opened windows were shrinked and moved to top left conner and piled up togather.  I have to move and resize all of them to work again.  So, each time when i resume nuc, i will demn it.

2:  The NUC will not goes to sleep

The monitor will go to standby normally, but no matter how long time passed, the NUC will persisted working hard, and not goes to sleep.   Since the monitor can goes to power saving by time, i think windows timer is working.  I can make the NUC go to sleep by press POWER BOTTON or by windows commands.  but I am still curios why NUC will not go to sleep by time.

3:  Keyboard and mouse lose responses when power saving.

Though the NUC will not goes to sleep, but sometime it do make the keyboard and mouse sleep to dead.   This problem may happens after long enough time should the NUC gose to sleep. When this happens, the keyboard and mouse  will lose response.  and then the monitor will not resume from power saving by typing keyboard/mouse.  I have find  a method by pressing Power Botton to make the NUC realy goes to sleep, and then i can use keyboard/mouse to resume it !  but sometime:

4:  NUC crushed when press POWER BOTTON

there are about 1/3 times or less,  when i press power botton to make the NUC gose to sleep,  but NUC will crushed from windows, and will reboot.  at this point, all of my unsaved work will be lost...

5:  The NUC is not a ACPI computer if Intel Graphic Driver not installed.

To test why NUC have power saving problems, I have unload Intel graphic and use Microsoft basic graphic driver insteed.  Both windows 10 1703 and 1709 are tested.  The result is, with only Microsoft Basic Graphic Driver, this NUC will be not a ACPI computer.  where both NUC and monitor can not go to sleep.   In windows power manage screen,  there is Only black screen useable, the computer sleep time box will dispear.  when monitor standby time up, The monitor will display a Black screen, but not cut off signal, so the monitor will not gose standby.  but, at this time, the desktop windows will not be shrinked and moved.

If anyone have similar experiences, do please let Intel knows!

William Wang

NUC 6i7KYB TPM

I'm trying to enable TPM (PTT or fTPM) on the NUC 6i7KYB. I am currently running BIOS 42 (KYSKLi70.086A.0042.2016.0929.1933) which is the newest I can find.  I have turned on PTT in the BIOS and am booting secure UEFI.  I don’t see any the PCRs and my kernel module is throwing an error on loading.  I think I have debugged the problem down to ACPI IO Resources.  The MSFT0101 memory region (as defined in APCI) is at 0xFED40000 – 0xFED4087F.  When the TPM driver (tpm_crb.ko) starts, it reads the command buffer size (0xF80) from the TPM2 command size register and tries to allocate space at starting at 0xFED40080.  This is larger than the size of MSFT0101 and the module loading fails.  So one value is wrong, either the size of MSFT0101 or the command/receive buffer size reported by the TPM2 (PTT) registers.  I have modified the driver to use a smaller buffer size (0x7F0) but that does not work so I think it must require the entire buffer space.

Disassembling the ACPI tables, I can see that the _CRS method returns 0x880 but I don't know enough about ACPI to understand why.  So, is there a newer BIOS I should be using?  I know Intel doesn't like to support Linux, but that is a requirement.  I know that there is active development on this module by several Intel developers and I don't think this is a Linux problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

NUC D54250WYK no network link

I have Intel NUC D54250WYK. I have installed Redhat and Fedora but I cannot get the network communication establish.

Fedora shows the following for "lspci -vv | grep -i ether" :

shows the chips set as 'I218-V [8086:1559]

In the past I have installed Linux, RHEL on several NUCs. I have always configured BIOS for Legacy mode so that I can kickstart.

In this case since I am having trouble I used "e1000e-3.3.6.tar.gz", I tested installing from a Live CD/USB.

I also downloaded the - driver from - Download Intel® Network Adapter Driver for PCIe* Intel® Gigabit Ethernet Network Connections Under Linux*

But nothing is working.

During power up I can see the link Green LED on the interface.

Then when I boot into the OS, I loose the link light.

This gives me an indication the driver is not working.

I appreciate if someone can give me a great sense of direction.

Thanks

Reading NUC temperature sensors

Hi,

I am interested into know the following:

Is there a way to read Intel NUC kit (NUC7i7BNH) temperature sensors from Windows command line?

I know that several grapfical tools to read temperatures exist - but I'm in need for a command line tool, to automate monitoring. My NUC happens to reside in an unwarmed cottage (remote amateur radio site), at where the temperature might fall very low during the winter.

NUC7i3BNK screen flickering (1680x1050, 59 or 60hz)

Hi,

After purchasing a NUC7i3BNK for my aunt as a desktop replacement (only some light internet and office work) I installed the NUC on my LG IPS277l (1920x1080) via HDMI. No issues so far.

Unfortunately when installing the NUC at my aunt's screen (a Dell professional 2009W 20" screen with DVI-D and VGA connections) on the NUC's HDMI port with a HDMI to DVI cable the screen starts flickering in certain circumstances.

After some troubleshooting I noticed it only occurs so far on the 1680x1050 resolution (59 or 60hz doesn't make a difference) which is the recommended resolution for this screen. When setting the monitor to a lower resolution it doesn't occur so far.

I believe after reading the forum topics about screen flickering/dropouts that it is a driver related problem, since on other resolutions everything is ok so cables etc. should be fine.

I have already installed the most recent bios (0052) and updated the nuc to all the most recent drivers via the Intel Driver & Support Assistant. Then I tried the recommended older display driver in the main screen flickering topic (4771) and the HDMI 2.0 firmware update, but the flickering is still there.

(just to be clear, the screen stays ON all the time, it just glitches so no black screen on/off as reported with some 4k monitors)

I have uploaded a video of the problem:

NUC7i3BNK screen flickering - YouTube

Hope there is a solution for this problem, thank you in advance for looking into it.

Mik
