NUC6CAYH - Is my RAM compatible?

$

I bought 2 x 2GB RAM from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008PK0A1Q/

However, when I first booted up it said the RAM in slot 1 was unsupported. I'm now getting a message that both RAM sticks are unsupported:

Unsupported 1Gb / 2Gb density detected on both SODIMM slots. System instability or data loss possible.

Please replace with SODIMMs with 4Gb or higher density. Continue (Y/n).

I think it's saying that each slot has to contain a 4Gb stick minimum - is my assumption correct?

NUC7i3BNH HDR Graphics corruption on TV/AVR at boot, in bios, and in Windows.

Hello,  I have a new NUC7i3BNH that is configured as a HTPC running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (latest updates applied).  It is connected to a Yamaha RX-A770 AVR, and that is connected to a Sony x930e TV.   All connected via HDMI 2.0a/b cables, and the HDMI link from the AVR to the TV is proven via other 4K HDR assets going through it.

I have installed the latest drivers and enabled HDR in the configuration for Windows.   The TV sees the signal as 10bit yuv420 HDR.  (which I would like to actually have 444 or 422, but 420 is the only level the intel chip seems to work with)

I have a major issue at reboot -IMG_20171127_095016.jpg

The colors are all green/purple.   This happens in the BIOS,  Boot screen, and at the desktop.  UNTIL you move the mouse or click on the desktop.   This only happens once you enable HDR mode in the OS.   Once you do, any reboot after that will have this coloring issue. ... again... until you (edit:  You can just move the mouse at the login/desktop and it will clean up, no click is actually needed) click the desktop (any click right/left)  windows seems to clean up the signal at that point.

I realize these drivers are brand new, and it seems like something is getting hung up on the reboot in the HDMI stack or that level converter in the middle of things.

Firmware is all at the latest (1.72 for the HDMI firmware) current bios, and latest drivers.    This is the only real issue I have so far with this setup.  And since it's a HTPC it doesn't reboot often it doesn't crop up much, but I wanted to post this so Intel and others know this is an issue.  Not sure if its a Windows or an Intel driver issue, but it is an issue.

Downgrade BIOS on NUC7i3BNH to version 0036

Hi

I got a NUC7i3BNH, which originally came with BIOS 0036.

My plan is to have VMware ESXi on this box (either 6.0U3 or 6.5).

I saw that there was a BIOS upgrade available, so I updated to BIOS 0042.

But now the system, won't power off, when doing a shutdown of the ESXi software (tested with both ESXi 6.0U3 and 6.5)

I have been in communication with other people with the precise same hardware, and ESXi versions, running BIOS 0036, where the shutdown/power off works.

So I would like to downgrade the BIOS to 0036 again.

But when I try this I just get "Incompatible BIOS Version, Update aborted" using either the F7 option or the IFLASH2 option.

When I try to do a Power Button Menu F4 BIOS Recovery, I just get a blank/black screen, and the system is just on, but nothing happens. Left it there for many hours.

I have also tried the BIOS Security Jumper, but the result is the same as the Power Button Menu F4 BIOS Recovery option.

How do I downgrade the BIOS back to the original 0036?

Hi,

I have problems with creating a custom bios file. I have a NUC5PYH and when using this cmd line: "itk6.efi -b -x MyCustomBios.bio -il MyLogo.jpg" then I get "There was an issue creating/opening the .bio: MyCustomBios.bio.

When Using "itk6.efi -b -x MyCustomBios.bio -ic -il MyLogo.jpg" I get "There was an issue getting the current BIOS custom settings"

I have the PY0064 Firmware.

Please help?

Intel NUC7I5BNK Windows Shrink after the compter sleep

After few weeks use and test of 4k60Hz video output over HDMI2.0 on my NUC7I5bnk, and after updating all the driver and BIOS using Intel Driver & Support Assistant, I still have problems with my open windows, some open windows shrink to small windows and position will be moved to top left corner when NUC goes to standby mode. Please see screenshot attached.

I was quite surprise of the problems because it never happened in the past in the other computers that I have. I thought that Intel was a good and reliable brand, and I feel otherwise now.

Please some one advise how to solve this problems.

NUC7I5BNK Power ON from Microsoft XBOX 360 Media Remote not working

I am not sure if it is a bug or a missing feature but since it’s announced that this remote is compatible (NUC Ecosystem Catalog July 2017) should work.

360 Media remote.png

Please add support in BIOS or remove from advertised products as compatible.

NOTE: some old NUC’s has this support in BIOS:

However in last generation NUC’s (NUC7I5BNK) this option is missing in BIOS.

NUC7i5BNK - HDMI audio problem with WASAPI 44.1/16

Running Windows 10Pro 64bit Fall Creator's update connected with an HDMI cable to a DENON receiver. I can't get the NUC7i5BNK to output audio at 44.1/16 using WASAPI.

Things that I already tried:

  1. Updating BIOS to ver 0054
  2. Updating HDMI Firmware to 1.72
  3. Updating Graphic driver to 15.60.0.4849_BN
  4. Install software guard extensions 1.8.106.40803
  5. Currently using JRiver Media Center 64bit. Updated to latest version
  6. Tried using TIDAL
  7. Tried to output sound through Windows own audio device properties (advance tab). Selected 16 bit 44100 CD quality

Basically the problem is such: The NUC7i5BNK is not outputting any sound for 2 channels audio at 44.1/16 when using WASAPI. It will output 48/16, 96/24 or even 192/24 (2 channels) but not 44.1. Strangely enough the applications do not detect any fault, even JRiver displays the audio graphs in main window top and the DSP analyzer window.

Switching the output in JRiver to direct sound will return the audio, but then I guess it's because it's being routed through the system audio mixer and probably re-sampled to another frequency.

I have no problems with multi channel PCM audio decoded by JRiver or even DD AC3 pass through. It's just 44.1/16 2 channel audio that refuse to play through HDMI.

I also tried to output the sound through an external USB DAC and it works flawlessly, so obviously it's not an application problem and is clearly restricted to the WASAPI implementation of the HDMI audio driver.

TIA

Claude

NUC NUC7I5BNH won't power off

After installing the Windows 10 Fall Update my NUC7I5BNH won't power off unless I press and hold the power button until it turns off (hard off).

If I shutdown via Windows it just immediately starts Windows back up. I don't even get to the BIOS/UEFI splash screen.

If I press the power button on the front of the NUC the same behavior happens.

NUC5i7ryh and Intel Network Adapter

I installed the latest Gigabit Ethernet Network Connection Driver, dated 27-Oct-2017, located here:

Download Intel® Gigabit Ethernet Network Connection Driver for Windows 8.1*, for the Intel® NUC

And it appeared to install without any issues. However, I am concerned about it after looking at the driver Properties page from Network Adapters in Device Manager.  When I look at the network adapter’s Properties page and Driver tab, it shows “Digital Signer: Not digitally signed.” Then, in Driver Details, I can see four files listed, one of which is “C:\Windows\system32\e1d64x64.din”. It shows Unknown for Provider, File version, and Copyright.  These does not seem right to me.

I want to enable the Secure Boot functionality in NUC's BIOS. First, however, I believe that I need to get this issue fixed because, if I am not mistaken, Secure Boot will not work properly with an unsigned driver.  Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

NUC6i7KYK media playback crash

Hello

I just got the Skull canyon nuc 3 months ago. I've had been using the NUC D54250wyk since 2014 with no issues.

It's connected to a Pioneer SC-LX73 reciever (via HDMI).

My tv is a Sony kdl-65hx920.

Using windows 10 pro x64 with all the latest updates.

Using the latest bios and graphics drivers(both updated yesterday)

The skull canyon nuc i have has severe issues with media playback for some reason. I have this issue both with kodi and mp-hc(with madVR).

At at random point in a movie or tv show the whole machine just locks up with the image frozen and the sound looping. The only solution is to hold the power button on the nuc untill i shuts off.

I've also had this happen if i try to play games on it.

Is there any way to figure out why this happens?

Finding right NUC

I love the Intel Nucs. I've purchased several of them for my personal use and recommended them for others also. However, your new format for displaying information about your products is really horrible!!! When I want to browse your latest NUC products, the most important thing is looking for a NUC with specs that meet what I'm looking for, and number one is which CPU. But instead of organizing your NUCs by commonly used CPU names, such as i3, i7, Celeron, etc., which everyone is familiar with, you're now using numbers such as "95442 Processor Included". Come on, who uses those kinds of processor numbers? Perhaps some enthusiast who's researched all the CPUs and knows exactly which precise one they want. But certainly not the general public, and I bet even most Intel employees wouldn't know off-hand which number goes with which processor name, unless there's some secret method to your numbering system that I'm not aware of.

In short, when I want to search on your website to see the specs for all Intel NUCs with an i3 processor, I want to be able to see a list of filters that has i3 as an option, not some cryptic processor number.

Furthermore, your specs once you do find a NUC are far from being clear. If I type the model number into Amazon or any retailer, they show right in the heading what the commonly used CPU name is, plus amount of memory/storage capacity, etc. if it's a NUC with those options. But when I pull up something like the NUC7I5BNKP, which has Windows 10 pre-installed, I'm presented with specs such as Launch Date and Lithography at the very top. How are those significant for someone just wanting to find the basic specs of the product? Obviously there's some storage device included with this NUC if Windows 10 is pre-installed, but I can't even see anyplace in the specs where it even lists what storage it includes. How can you expect me to buy your product when you can't even list what kind of storage the product includes? You need to include commonly used CPU name, amount of installed RAM, storage, OS, and things that every other PC maker on the planet uses to describe their products displayed prominently at the top of the specs. Forcing people who want to buy your product to search all over, and end up visiting non-Intel sites just to get the most basic of information about your product is quite unbelievable. It's as if whoever designed your NUC webpages is doing their best to destroy your NUC business by frustrating potential buyers.

Please, please, please, completely redo your product pages and absolutely include the commonly used processor names.

NUC5i7RYH CMOS battery / time resets / no bootable device

HI,

I have an NUC5i7RYH which has woked perfectly for almost exactly 2 years. All updates have been applied. It now has these issues.

1. First boot in the morning and I get the following.

a. A message "No bootable device" (although not every time). Sometimes I have to powercycle the device several times before it will boot.

b. The clock time on starting Windows 10 has slipped back by a few hours.

I have replaced the CMOS battery twice (I thought maybe the first one was also defective). No improvement.

If I do not unplug the power overnight, then it boots normally.

Help!

Reading NUC temperature sensors

Hi,

I am interested into know the following:

Is there a way to read Intel NUC kit (NUC7i7BNH) temperature sensors from Windows command line?

I know that several grapfical tools to read temperatures exist - but I'm in need for a command line tool, to automate monitoring. My NUC happens to reside in an unwarmed cottage (remote amateur radio site), at where the temperature might fall very low during the winter.

Question NUC6i5SYH / bios 063

Hello,

I have a NUC 6i5SYH
I just set up the latest bios (063)
There has been a change since. At the NUC front there is a blue diode.
With the old bios and at startup this diode was all the time blue.
With the bios 063 at startup it is briefly orange then changes to blue.

Is this normal?

If yes, what does the orange color mean?

Thank you
